Mold question?
« on: 07:41 AM - 07/21/14 »
I am looking for a good\SAFE\ mold material that alloys me to make my sony nav a little more user friendly with my big hands. I bought the nav sleeve and it still seems small, I would like a material that is user safe, I do not like to game and die. I can mold the putty\material with my dremel. Thank You in advance.

Try Sugru, i used it on my sony nav, you can get 4 different colours, Black, yellow, red, blue, have a look on amazon or go direct to Sugru's website  http://sugru.com
Its like a putty you can stick on and mold to shape and then sets over night, next day its like a hard rubber with grip, i put a texture on mine which give better grip.  Its great stuff  :)
Also if you look on Sugru website your see my own sony nav that i used it on.

Thank You, I just ordered some from amazon. Now is there one you recommend for a mouse, I want to extend my thumb rest area on my G700?

I feel like a kid in Candy Land, Microcenter sells it as well, The Container Store and Microcenter are in the same shopping center.

I heart Sugru.  I'm so glad it doesn't seem to be a flash-in-the-pan product.  I use it for something about once a month.  Simple, yet amazingly useful.

Another sugru user here. It worked really well on my g602, I used it to complete the right side of the mouse. I like the feel ofthe rubber texture it doesn't feel out of place alongside the logitech grip texture on the mouse.

Tip for when you're finished. If you have leftover packets I read that if you store the them in a refrigerator it will extend the original shelf life of six months.

Hey guys, to anyone who worked with sugru before: How much you think I will need to make a finger stand like roads or/and a better grip for my nav?

What about 8 packets of 5 grams? Will be enough?

Thanks!

Up to 2 packets. I think the person who did the nav grip in the other thread on this forum said they used two packets. As far as I know at minimum they come in three 5 gram packets. If you have playdoh around the house or dough in general and a kitchen scale you can get a better idea of how much you're going to use.

That was 1 packet and I think a little more. To make it nice and smotth you need to roll a metal on it over and over like a round headed screw. I think I was working that surface for 20 minutes at least. Sugru quickly looks like shlt if the surface is not really smooth. When its done don't touch for a night.
