If people want to group think a design and then pay $100ish per unit so I can afford a 3d printer...

+1
I'd pay $250 max for one.

May not actually need a 3d printer. That would obviously be ideal, but it might be possible to get away with a plastic casting kit. Prototype one with wood, make molds of the pieces, and then cast the rest.

Are people looking for a wand type thing to hold? Or a keypad type unit with a thumbstick, similar to an orbweaver?

I personally would prefer a wand, the fragfx is the right size but I would like more buttons.

My dream setup would be a hybrid Nav-Wand or even a N52te setup that has some type of touch pad on it that would allow me to fine tune snipping. .

what you guys need is to brainstorm a design.

there are places in USA where you can other X amount of enclosures. then all that would be left is to assemble the thing which some could do themselves if they have the tools and knowledge and others could other from who ever was willing to make a profit building the things.

no one needs to rely on OBsIV really, you just need one guy with enough time and need of money to step up, do it, and the one's interested pay the man their pre-orders.

Would you still want a wand even if it had to be wired and not wireless?

Anybody good at 3d modeling? Wanna do some mockups?

The fewer batteries I have to charge or change, the better.  I use wired even if wireless is an option.

Wired is fine.

I'd work on a mockup but my 3D modeling wouldn't be up to par, I now we have some people here that can do it.

I've specifically not gone down the path of building an input device (i.e. mouse, keyboard, joystick, nunchuk) because, like cars, clothes, phones, etc. peoples' preferences vary significantly. Unless we become like Logitech and produce a large variety of input devices, it's not a good path to take.

I think it's safe to say that production of the Sony navigational controller has ceased. They are on clearance everywhere you look. I just bought a spare charging dock because BB was selling it for $3.44

By the way those of you wanting a wired wand have obviously not used the Nav wirelessly. Wireless is a no brainer for this type of input device where lag is a non issue. The freedom of the Nav wireless compared to wired is night and day.

agree and the wire position on the Nav was awful for my setup. in wireless i don't even lay my hand in the same position as if i had a controller or kb, i change it all the time freely and leave it at more comfortable/relaxed positions...

in the end, Sony might solve our issues by making Move/Nav 2.0 controllers for their Project Morpheus ( meaning for VR ). OBsIV could then add support for the new controllers and even get them to work via BT with the XIM.. but if that were to happen it would be like a year from now..

I +1 for the idea and the price.

Wireless or Wired doesnt matter.  I believe for me atleast I am really just looking for a good analog wand that has access to a few more buttons than sony nave.  Ergonomics is another issue, holding something in the air can get tiring, I sit in an armchair and a cross between the nostromo and the nav.
