Can't pair Bluetooth with XIM4E
« on: 07:13 PM - 03/21/14 »
I have mentioned this in other threads, but I just can't pair my BT adapters with the XIM4E. I have followed all the prerequisites and installation instructions in the stickied threads.

I have flashed my XIME successfully into a XIM4E.
I have tried reverting back to XIME, then re-flashing to XIM4E.
But every time I try to pair, the XIM4E is not detected.

I have the official Laird BT. My PC BT is a Planex BT-Micro3E2X (3.0+EDR).
The PC BT shows up immediately on my PC and I select "add a device". The XIM is on (red lights) with the Laird in the right slot, blinking blue. I then hit the small red button to pair devices and the XIM flashes blue-green (to show it is pairing). However the PC does not detect any devices. I tried "searching for Bluetooth devices" but again nothing is found. I have tried different USB ports. I have tried to pair PC BT with Blackberry. Both the Planex and Laird BT are detected individually as a PC adapter, but do not detect other BT devices when searching for new devices.

OBsiv viewed the other thread and mentioned it may be a problem with my PC settings. OK, so how can I solve this? What do I need to change or enable to get BT working?

I appreciate any help or advice you can give... Desperately wanting to fix this issue. Thank you.

I was waiting for my laird, got impatient, ordered another yesterday, the first came today and now I'm laird bt adapter heavy. I was so excited when it came and all for nothing . Didn't work. Everything was fine except the I could pair them.

I was getting ready to raise hell on the forums and I tried the last advice I remembered from OBsIv. I tried on a different pc. Picked up my wife's fathers pc, one that has never had any xim software on it, did the steps, and it worked. I cannot imagine why one pc works where another doesn't, but that fixed my problem.

Thx wade. That is very good to hear. At least there may be hope.

But I wonder, after you paired on that 2nd PC does that mean you  have to use the same (2nd) PC to set up  XIM manager and change your profiles? If so, that could be a problem for me. I don't even know if I can get another PC, let alone use it long enough to get all that done in one sitting.

Tried a few different things just now. I am almost positive it is indeed a problem with my PC.

Plugging XIM4E + Laird into PS4, my Blackberry and wife's iPad both detected the XIM4 as a BT device (something my PC just won't/can't do).

Could not pair with either, but I guess its good knowing its just my PC which is totally retarded.

Orbital has some PC fixes coming around the Atheros BT chipset which may actually help other BT issues that we don't know about. When that build comes out, please retry on this problem PC and let us know.

No, sorry. It's a bug with Atheros that is being fixed. This is what having a beta is all about. :)

Update:

Installed driver from the Planex website which is a motorola bluetooth driver.

Now my PC detects both my Blackberry and XIM4 immediately. Yet it will still not pair with the XIM4. I'm stuck at [Computer > My Bluetooth > XIM4]. It says the XIM4 status is discovered but "Service not found. Make sure that the remote device is discoverable and then update service list."

I press to update and then hit the red button on the back of XIM. Shows the same error and does not pair. Tried loading up XIM4 Manager, but says "Connect failure. Paired XIM4 not found [6]."

Update 2:

Could pair the XIM4 to my PC by right clicking on it from the Computer>My Bluetooth>Secure Pair option. The status now says "paired" yet it also still says "service not found" like before.

Deleted XIM technologies folder. Started XIM Manger. Again, said XIM4 connect failure because XIM4 is not paired. Really?

How long did it make for your computer to complete pairing with your XIM? Seconds or 30 seconds?

Once I figured out the correct process to pair, it was instant. In fact, once I installed the driver for my 2nd (non-Laird) BT adapter, my PC seemed to detect both the XIM4 and Blackberry without me even going into "discovery" mode (ie, I did not even press the red button on back to pair).
