Yes, in the US "Hair Bands"/"Hair Metal"/'Glam Rock" are all names for this genre of music. For me it was Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison, Cinderella, Whitesnake, Guns N Roses, Slaughter, etc.

I don't think Metallica would associate themselves with Hair Bands. People would say they were just Metal.

That "natural curve" you [roads] are talking about was me taking a wild guess what the game was doing (which was completely wrong of course).

😂😂😭

My wife and I have talked several times about how glad we are that we were kids during the decade of the 80's.  We're going to see Motley Crue/Alice Cooper in August.........lol.

Agreed.  I was a big metal head back in the 80's / 90's (well, I suppose I still am heh).  Hair Bands was synonymous with Glam Rock (Poison, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, etc).  Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, etc, were just considered thrash bands (or even just metal bands).  Even though they had long hair they didn't spray or style their hair which, I believe, is how the name "Hair Bands" came about.

Metallica was definitely heavier than the hair bands except for their self titled album (enter sandman, unforgiven, nothing else matters).  That album was much lighter than any of their previous ones and had similar sounds to the hair bands at the time.  I remember many of their hardcore fans were so pissed with that album......lol.

I was a working guitarist in the 80's. Mostly club circuit road bands playing 80's rock. I was definitely into the guitar shredding 80's bands. And that excludes Poison, Def Leopard, Warrant, well I'll stop there before I make to many enemies. :)

though metallicas black album metal was watered down... sad but true was extremely heavy and may have spawned stomp.

its funny my favorite guitar players idol was van halen. its amazing how things change in 10 years let alone 30.

im still thinking its a cycle though between electronic and analog. well see.
Ice... 15ml lime cordial... 1 dash angostura bitters... 2 oz 100% agave tequila... top off with sprite or 7 up
