Darn. I was hoping it would be out before X1 audio was finished.

niceeee. I think we'll stick to team speak tho :P

As of right now, party chat reduces your game volume down 50% when its activated.

So, it's still unclear to me if the adapter puck thing will output wireless game audio. In that article it talks about connecting your headphones to the optical out on the Xbox or the RCA on your TV to get game audio.

If I have a PC headset with, say, the Astro PC headset y-adapter, can I just plug that into the puck and get game and voice audio wirelessly through the controller? That's all I really want to know. It seems like you can, but they're being a little shady about it.

The puck has game/voice volume so I think you can alter how much it will reduce game volume in party chat.

I've read both, that you can and cannot receive game audio through the puck. Still waiting for something concrete. I would prefer my game audio over optical though.

Yeah, I'm sure you'll still need a Mixamp or something similar if you want game and voice audio in one headset.

You still gonna need a mixamp to get game audio. It explicitly states you have to connect your headset with optical cable or rca to receive game sound.

It won't make the controller like the DS4 that can output game audio through the controller.

EDIT: Well apparently I was wrong.

Looks like it does voice and game audio over the controller.

Hah, well that's surprising. It does deal with game audio as well. Nice.

Though if you want simulated surround, I'd guess you would still need to use something like the Mixamp. I doubt the adapter provides that.

Am I missing something here?

"A headset with chat audio provided by a 3.5-mm audio cable and game audio provided by a separate cable with RCA or optical connectors. (Only chat audio will be enabled through the Stereo Headset Adapter. For RCA/optical connectors [game audio], follow the manufacturer’s instructions to connect to the console.)"

Only chat audio is enabled through the adapter. For game audio you need to use RCA/optical connectors.

Thanks for that link, Mist. It would appear that you can get game audio through the controller.

It's possible it might have some kind of inbuilt surround virtualization. The Polk 4 Shot: http://www.polkaudio.com/products/4shot

supposedly has their own version of virtualization (so not Dolby Headphone) and AFAIK it uses the same puck.
