looking at mice to use with XIM4
« on: 06:38 PM - 01/21/14 »
I am coming from years of using 3 different versions of Aimon so I am use to the button layout on the mouse.  It hit me today that my trusty G500 only has 3 buttons on the side so I started looking at gaming mice for the first time in years.

What mouse are you XIM veterans using and how do you have it set up for thumb buttons?  Is there one with 4 buttons on the side (but less than 20 like some of the mice I have seen)?  I really only play COD so I will need to reload, couch, jump and switch weapons with the thumb buttons.

I use a G700 myself.  I also use the G13 gaming pad.  Not sure why you would use a mouse to reload, crouch, jump etc.......that's why I have my G13 configured to do all that :)

I've been threw a lot of mice any thing laser doesn't track as well as optical.
So either the deathadder r.a.t.3 or g400 would be your best bet.

I used an mx518 for a while then finally decided to upgrade to a g500. I also bought the g700 wireless but the weight just threw my game off. Only looked at g700 for the extra buttons ad realized I didn't even really need them. Lol so I am sticking with g500

If all you're playing is COD then go for the G400 it's the most precise and cheap!

If you need Macro's (cause you're used to Aimon, hey I'm Ex Aimon myself) stick with the 500 or go with the G9x or the 700.

400 > Deathadder

I currently use the G700 as well, I have been looking at the G602. Do anyone see that as a better mouse.

Logitech make some great peripherals, I’ve been using the G13 and G400 for some time now and both are excellent options for the Edge/XIM 4. Decided to try out a different mouse and found the Perixx MX-3000, its main features include –

•   Right-handed ergonomic shape
•   Customizable LEDs along the sides of the mouse
•   8 Button (total) programmable buttons (6 “actual”)
•   600-8200 dpi Resolution with dpi Switch.
•   Adjustable polling rate: 250Hz/500Hz/1000Hz
•   150ips & 30G Surface Tracking Speed
•   Adjustable weight cartridges
•   Braided USB cable & Gold Plated USB 2.0 Connector
•   X and Y axes independent resolution setting
•   Built-in Flash memory to store profiles

There are 3 buttons on the side of the mouse but the middle one can only be bound to keyboard inputs so isn’t recognised by the Edge (should work with XIM4). Overall this mouse is very cheap (£25.99), for the features you’re getting, it provides a bit more grip on my mouse mat as opposed to the G400 but I’ll get used to it. The back of the mouse is slightly more raised than the G400 and makes the mouse feel a bit more bulky, the G400’s ergonomics are spot on for me although it is very lightweight.

The Perixx is a laser mouse but I haven’t noticed much difference between it and the optical G400. The fact that it doesn’t glide as freely over the mouse mat coupled with the option to add weights makes my aim a bit more controlled. Being a high sensitivity player I sometimes find that distance shots are more difficult with the G400 as it can slide all over the place. Yes I could change my mouse mat and/or use my little finger for more control but I wanted to see what the Perixx was like and am happy with it so far.

Here are a couple of reviews of the mouse if you’re interested: -

Trust me, I know what I'm doing.
