And I'm a nerd who dual boots Linux on my laptop ninjax2.

I always gravitate back to Ubuntu.

The specialised business sector is changing, they are waking up as they get more and more demands to port their software. For me there is a software coming in 2015 and I will switch to OSX in my shop also just in time my Small business server is not supported any more.

Linux?  The only nerd around here?  please...

80% of my OS cd/dvd's in my tech fixer upper bag are Linux.  Ubuntu, Mint, Suse, Fedora, Knoppix, gentoo.  I have more spare HD's floating around with various Linux distro's installed than I care to count.  The only reason I run windows is because of Visual Studio and OBS.

Yeah, I used to be like that...now i just virtual machine everything.  I almost always just remove the hard drive from any computer I work on and hook it up to a Mac/Unix OS and then fix it.

i propose we move the topic of discussion to tuff's evident HDD hoarding problem. someone needs to do an intervention before he starts feeding HDDs to the dog!

on a serious note, tuff why do you use cd/dvds instead of flash drives?
soon..

T.T holy crap. that's enough for you to make some bucks on recycle alone, which pays cents on the dollar.

you can make a cloud of your own with that if you burn serious cash on a server. there's no NAS for that amount and those are already expensive as crap. is that IDE drives too i see in there?
soon..

Well... I use flash drives now.  I still have a bunch of discs though.  Some of my older machines can't boot from usb.

im all about windows 98.

...seriously tho the only section ive personally seen a heavy leaning towards mac in the uk is design orientated professions and businesses. 70% of the systems I've dealt with in the past have all been windows.

for the majority of small-medium size business i deal with even now mac is a far too pricey solution. Even with secondary schools all the way up to university its been Windows orientated and unless a role, course or position calls for mac use etc.
