This is for the people on the good end of lag comp. What Internet speed do you have? I have 65DL/5UL, 0 packet loss, and 20-25ms ping. When I host a game it becomes unbearable to stay in the lobby. I have a 375spm (in kill confirmed) and a 2.13kd, but I feel like a pub when I'm hosting a match.

I can count on one hand the number of bad lobbies I've been in, and I play with people from the west coast (I'm east).

20 down and 2 up

as a host you usually have the best connection compared to everyone else, means you suffer from the lag compensation the most

Only 1/5 or less of my games are laggy.  25 down and 5 up for internet speed.

Most of my games are pretty smooth.  If I notice I am getting the syndrome where enemies appear out of nowhere and kill me before I even have a chance to react I will ditch the lobby and fine a new one. I am in Texas with 5 up / 30 dwn.

Texas, 30 down, 3 up...but your bandwidth is typically irrelevant, your ping is all that matters as long as you're not using dial-up.

Ever since the major patch came out for BO2, I hardly have any games that are unplayable due to lag (plenty are unplayable due to people acting like idiots).  Before the patch, it was seriously every second or third game I had to leave...the whole "you're dead before you even see them" crap.

He claims that while there may be host disadvantage his data shows host getting the advantage in Black Ops 2.

Personally, I've noticed that if it's a lobby full of four bars it mostly plays well when hosting. If you have people with unstable connections or multiple 3 bars then it starts going to @#$%.

I live in north western Canada, and have a 21down/0.5up and haven't come across many bad lobbies.

24 down and 4 up.
Some of my best games K/D wise are when I am playing with my east coast friends (Central Cali here) and they are party lead causing me to be yellow barring it.

That being said; when I go solo and have my settings set to "best" for search it seems to be 1/4 games lately for the bad lag/good lag. Usually its fine with maybe 1 or 2 people that seem to insta-kill everyone.
No matter how nice I ask random people, nobody will take me to Funkytown.

Played for almost 5 hours on Saturday and didn't have one bag lag game. only one person I came across in a whole game one time was killing me before he appeared.

Yea it has definitely gotten better for me unless I pulled host, I called my ISP and pulled the reigns back down to 30/2 it seems better now. Maybe just my mind playing tricks...

65/5 isn't going to do you any different than 30/2, because both those are far more than enough to game on and it's all about ping and you are still on teh exact same line.

This guy ftw.

Yes. Your internet speed could be 5/2 and still be just as fast as 65/65 for playing COD.

Its all about the connection to the host.

For example. I have a 50mb downlaod speed at home. If I download from say...STEAM. I get capped at 5mb/s.

They cant allow everyone to download from them at 50mbps because it would brutalize their connection and it would fail.

Same with COD or any other multiplayer game. Only small pieceso f information are actually sent to / from the server.

And there is a limit on the rate at wich it can be sent or recieved.

Faster internet =/= better call of duty connection. Different ISP maybe, or just a different host, and you will be good.

The reason COD is so annoying is there is not constant (AKA Dedicated Server) The host / server is ever changing. So your connection to one host good, and next game, connection to host is bad.

It isn't a call of duty problem as much as it is the way in wich the lobbies are hosted off of other players. This alone is bad design, but it costs them nothing in the way of servers or bandwidth.

I have noticed lately that maybe the league play lobbies are dedicated, as I always have an amazing connection in league play. Although I think it was just implemented for this season, as I have not had a single "Migrating Host" all season.

Also I play league with the same guys I pub with. When I pub with them I am 3 bar. When in league play with the same people..I am ALWAYS 4 bar.

Anyways short version is, your internet speed is irrelevant.

*shrug*
