Hmm, I've been playing FPS since Goldeneye on the N64 but I never feel the need to go and kill someone

If the kids that @#$% up in the head then it's from birth and his upbringing not from playing video games FFS

Every time something like this happens the news always pins it to video games!

Actually, on the news yesterday, there was an expert talking about it and he said that in this case and many other mass shootings, they dont find any video games on his/their computer(s).

Quote
He said he became a deadly marksman by honing his gun skills on the Modern Warfare part of the series.

Lol... It's laughable at best.

They blamed wrestling, then violent movies, then rap albums, then mortal kombat... It's all knee jerk stuff, really.

Violent outbursts like these hit their peak in... Get ready for it... 1928! It is NOT an epidemic, it is NOT on the rise, and it is NOT a reason to start banning everything that's been in their sights for decades... Not just the past few years, but decades.

It's an absolutely devastating tragedy in every facet, with a reason to be sad and more vigilant, but it is in no way shape or form a reason to panic.

Sports games make just as agressive.

Just read a big weapon manufacturer now wants to sell the factory.

Edit sorry there is no game that makes as agressive as Blops 2 but it has nothing to do with killing people :)
Crusade atm: none

I find the idea of someone becoming "a deadly marksman" from playing ANY videogame to be the most hilarious thing ever. As if it were so easy! Given that many people in the army (or at least, the national guard) have trouble hitting 23/40 targets that don't even move, I'd say they just need to play more CoD! Bahahahahaha.

I'm fed up with the notion that video games, short of MAYBE Arma, can prepare someone for anything in real life. And even then, that's a far stretch.

I'm a recent ex-serviceman, and a guy I was working with who has also left recently told me about his time as an instructor in recruit basic training, where he introduced his students to the L86 LSW, to be told by one of them that he knew everything about that weapon because he'd fired it before. Wondering if the guy was re-joining after a short period outside or whatever, he asked the guy where he'd done this, and the guy replied "Modern Warfare" and he was deadly serious, the funny thing is that the guy took an extra week to pass weapon handling because he was utterly useless!

On another note, ARMA is good for tactics and the like (although not so much playing multiplayer unless the other team are organised) but it won't teach you marksmanship, you just have to fire a gun to do that, and to do it properly you need to be instructed.

The only thing playing an FPS will teach you about real life firearms handling and combat will be how to die really fast or shoot one of your own people.

It's a truly silly comparison.

I saw that "became deadly marksman" by playing MW comment in the article too. How could something like that ever be claimed? It's idiotic.
