Wii remote tutorial?
« on: 11:47 PM - 12/28/08 »
Good evening!

OBsIV, I saw your impressive video demonstration with halo 3 and was wondering if you would ever release a tutorial on how to setup a wii remote to work for the xbox360.

I've shipped support to the Wiimote with XIM2, but, admittedly it's a little involved to set up. Do you already have a XIM2? Even if you don't, the first thing you need to do is get your Wiimote paired (bluetooth -- I use a MSI Star Key USB adapter) and talking to your PC. After that, you'll need a sensor bar that isn't connected to your Wii (i.e. if your Wii is on, it'll take over your Wiimotes, so, you'll need to buy a wireless sensor bar -- or, you can build one like I did -- http://obsiv.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!948789BF56FAF394!139.entry). If you get all of that done, let me know, and I'll describe the next steps. :)

wow didnt expect an answer from you so soon! No i have not been able to grab a hold of the do XIM1 or XIM2 (wish i had one of those), but would I need an XFPS? I am ready for the long challenges if necessary, i have quite a decent background in coding if that helps any, a bit in AVR and PICs as well. But ya, I will start this project this weekend, and hopefully get this up by the end of january, showing off your video to some of my friends impressed them quite some bit, couple of my EE buddies might actually work with me on this! We just need some guidance to move the ball faster thats all  ;D

It is my understanding, XIM1 you need an XFPS but not with the XIM2..

His explanation for the Xim1 described u needed an XFPS, i am assuming that is eliminated in the XIM2, but it seems that that I will have to take apart the prebuilt XIM2 to get the wii remote working i bet, gahh, so that would mean I would have to buy two XIM2's if I wanted to keep the functionality of the MK without desoldering and soldering new connections?

I never actually shipped the Wiimote support with XIM1, but, I did with XIM2. So, to use the support, you'll need a XIM2 (no XFPS, of course).

I don't suppose you're selling custom Wii "sensor bars"?
I have a 65" TV and even if I never do the Wiimote/XIM360 thing, it'd still be nice to have...

Sorry, it's a one of a kind and I'm not planning on building more.

Is it ok to ask you the complete parts list and where you got each of them from? Including your custom sensor bar?

Anyways happy 2009 fellas!

My custom sensor bar blog entry has the parts list included. But, you can also buy a wireless sensor bar if that will work for you.
