and what difference would that make regarding a regular cable or dsl (fibre) connection do?
the difference in speed is not really needed, i mean what would you want to download actually?
youd run out of hdd space monthly if you really use that connection

No buffering, less compression or even no compression, integrated tv, record eight shows at once. With Google at the helm of a gigabyte network it wouldn't make sense to enforce data caps, they would be the ISP so they would call the shots. The evolution of technology is always welcomed in my book even if there isn't a practical application yet.
Remember at one point Bill Gates said that we wouldn't ever need more than 637 kb of ram in our pc's.
i see
since like 5 years the biggest german ISPs are integrating these fibre optic solutions in every bigger town
datarates are capped for the moment, as the ISPs want to milk the cow
however what i wanted to say is that it doesnt need to be google to receive those broadbands
google might offer them now, but any other ISPs with fibre optic could easily offer that service too
im not sure how it is in the US, but here is having a good infrastructure a very important role for households, one of the reasons for why the local communes are pushing the ISPs for their investments
for example, my local connection currently is capped to 300 mbit, although it could be a lot higher, theres no service that offers more than that for the through that line
(im not having that service as its not worth it for me though lol
the ISPs think likewise and dont offer more than that)
