Need help with purchasing HD recording device

I got my eye on the black magic cause i want all my recording to go straight to my pc HDD. Problem is this, i use a pc monitor as my TV and there is no audio in or out. How would i got about recording audio as well as video if im using seperate audio device for the ps3? (i have multi AV set up thru ps3, using old TV as my audio device) Insight please

Hey, i'd recommend the Happauge HDPVR. It records up to 720p (which is the max resolution for gaming on current consoles). You get free software with it which is easy to use and it plugs straight into your computer via a USB port. A little pricey at around £150, but its the most common HD recording device out there.

The PS3 does 1080 on the rare game. You can get better than 720. I would assume the xbox live an do the same. Most tho don't bother. 720 is all you need.

HD PVR is ancient. You have to worry about HDCP with HDMI on the PS3 though. Od1n posted a link to a product that removes HDCP though. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

if you are willing to spend the money for a black magic intensitiy, use the money and get an aver product
avermedia hd dvr for budget and avermedia game broadcaster hd
the hd dvr offers exactly the same as the black magic, for less money and with a better software
the game broadcaster hd is currently the best capture card available, being the only one able to record true 1080p footage (next to the intensity extreme which 0,0001% of all computers can run)

at no point you should consider an HD PVR as its stone age technology with really bad hd capture quality
oh did i mention its extremly overpriced as well?

its a hdmi-dvi to dvi-hdmi converter that implements the sound into the hdmi again

dvi has the same picture quality but cannot maintain hdcp, thats the trick behind it

they are forbidden to use in the US i need to say, pretty hard to get them for you guys

i think the hd pvr and Atlona AT-VGA300CV route is the only way i could record. unless there is a cheaper or newer way to replace the Atlona AT-VGA300CV

being that i play vga on a monitor and i want to still play at 1920x1080.
and my computer cant handle any of those internal cards.

any suggestions?

its just that a pvr costs 180 and i think i could find the atlona thing for around 220.
pretty pricey.

before you consider the pvr you should rather pick the aver media darkcrystal hd

its the same price, same specs and inputs but much better software for the pc
