Recording Help

I got a question/need help.  I'm currently playing through VGA on my monitor, but i also want to capture footage to my recorder (which only accepts components).  I purchased a VGA -> VGA/Component splitter ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Y3Z6KG/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details ) in hopes that that would work out.  The monitor accepted the signal, but the recorder didn't. I tried plugging the components into the TV as well and the TV couldn't find the signal either.

So here's what I need.  I need a way to capture my footage from my xbox while playing on my monitor. Again, the monitor is VGA and the recorder is component.  Is this possible?

I bought a vga to component converter for $25, has a throughput vga with no added response time. Works perfectly.

It's made by sabrent. I cant remember the model number

Has to be a powered converter. A splitter wont work because although vga and component are both analogue signals, they are both very different and carry separate signals through different pins. So yes, you will need a converter to be able to use a component capture card with a computer monitor. You're only other option is to get a small component tv.
