« on: 02:01 AM - 06/03/11 »
Hi.

I am going to get one of these within the next 2 weeks but how does this work on a pc monitor. I plan to run this on my pc monitor rather then a seperate TV. I have a phat elite. Can i just plug an hdmi from the xbox into my monitor and it will work. I use headphones as the monitor has no speakers so can i just buy a seperate sound lead that will plug straight into my sound card from the xbox?.

If you buy a monitor with HDMI in, and audio out (headphone jack) this will work.

This pic has the inputs of a dell monitor.  There are 2 pc inputs, 1 HDMI input, 1 mic input and 1 audio output.

With xbox you can either connect directly via the HDMI from xbox into the monitor or you can buy the xbox 360 vga av cable like this one. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-Live-VGA-Cable/dp/B000AYYADE

Or if your monitor doesn't have any audio connections you can get one of these and use it conjunction with you HDMI cable.

And if your monitor has no HDMI input but has a DVI then get one of these.

Hello.  I know this is an older topic but no one in the thread posted this solution: use both your new HDMI cable and your old component cable at the same time!  Basicly pry off the hard plastic covet around the component cable connection.  Everything under the shroud us is in good shape.  Pull it off,  plug it in and you will see there is now room to also plug in the HDMI cable too.  If you have one of the component cables that are slimer than the older cables and has a tab that blocks the HDMI port when it's plugged in....  Well chope it off.  Plastic only there.  No electronics in the tab. I have this set up because my monitor has HDMI but no audio out.  So i can run sound directly to my computer speakers I use with the Xbox.  Sounds beast.  Have fun
