I've done it before because I went from open NAT to strict NAT Over night.

One of the updates microsoft did to the xbox about a year ago made it start using some weird @#$% ports.



Good job microsoft. They pretty much force you to use UPnP, which has some nasty security flaws.

Also it wont make your connection any faster.

xbox itself uses these ports:
53
80
88
1863
3074

from there developers can open other ports. while very uncommon what some people have problems with are the two extra ports activision has opened with BO:

In Black Ops, you'll start the game before everyone else, you'll have 4 bars while they have 1.  The timer will go from 19 down to 10 at start of match and if the host quits and you are picked it goes from 19 down to 5.

If you set your xbox to DMZ on your router, you effectively open everything, correct?

I know it's not recommended for a PC, but I've read that it's okay to do with your xbox.

You know it.  Getting a virus/remote exploited/rootkit on an xbox would require specialize hacks that no one is working on.  So DMZ for an xbox is safe as of this second :)
