My area is always set at 72 degrees, so it's always nice and cool in my area. I have a 120mm fan on the back of the shelf it sits on that blows on it and it never really gets hot, warm MAYBE but not really much more than that even after several hours (around 5 or so today, yesterday was around 8). Cool though, I just don't see the pay off doing it other than bragging rights. Then again I could be wrong?

I use mine for a media center and it's on all day basically also. I was tired of sending rrod 360's to microshaft so I water cooled it. As I said it's probably overkill, but so is sending back junk 360's that seem to take longer each time. This is supposed to keep the PCB/mobo from ever reaching a temp where its able to shift/vibrate and seperate causing the most common rrod problem. I put my exhaust fans to max and the internal case temps are now exactly my room temperature.

I can also confirm that Oblivion runs smoother with the water cooling installed. Big outdoor scenes that studder before are now smooth, I really think heat is more of an issue than anyone realizes.

I'm very clumsy and I would probably end up getting water all over the Mobo and other circuitry. If I had faith in myself, I would consider it. As it stands right now: I'd be better off using one of those miniature fans they sell at the dollar store :P.

heh.. the x-clamps suck too. i've seen a lot of users ruin their boards on the reverse side scraping off the tiny resistors and such with them. it's not as easy as it should be because of those.

I don't see the point of this Locked. The newer 360s don't have the overheat issues that the older ones do. You could've bought another 360 for that much money. It's a little overkill too. It's like using an atom bomb to kill a fly. Just my 2 cents. Looks cool though.

Not true, many elites/arcades are being returned for rrod's which is still a heat pcb layer issue. Never said it was necessary to watercool anyway, neither is watercooling a computer. I watercooled my ps3 also which is a furnace without h2o. I already had 3 x360's before my new modded arcade system. I had to return it to microsoft for rrod's. I pawned my 3rd on eBay and got the new hdmi/arcade and watercooled it. The newest revision with 65nm chips are still seeing a 10-14% failure rate which triple the accepted failure rate for products on the market. I think on the 18th the big lawsuit was dropped on M$ just for this reason.

You don't really need socks either but it's more comfortable to wear them  :P

I'm going to watercool my Wii if possible, because I'm that geeky  ;D

1) drill holes in leak-proof container for controllers, power, etc.
2) put Wii in container
3) thread the cables through the holes
4) stop up the cables with silicon so the container remains leak-proof
5) fill with mineral oil
6) seal

boom done :D

Ive thought about watercooling but them but ruled it out. You can't overclock them and they  run well below their thermal limit stock. The problem is still ching-chong solder joints. Not just the GPU or CPU but every joint on the @#$% boared. If the GPU wont crack off first and giv eyou a RROD, the ramdac will.

People keep wondering about fixes like, oh the next version of the board will fix it! Yet they've never changed the solder, nor how it's applied to this day. NOR WILL THEY EVER on the xbox 360. The best we can hope for is a new contract with new engineers and assemblers on the next version.

Best thing you can do for one is buy it at walmart and keep the reciept. Swap it when it dies, or every month before the warranty runs out. Hardware wise, throw away the incorrect chinese hardware and install spacers to keep the heatsinks from shifting or flexing the board along with lock washers/nuts to keep the bolts from backing out.

Hey which Samsung tv? Got a 52" 750 here.

The ram chips have aftermarket heat sinks also. The heat is what causes a huge majority of rrod's as I said before the heat makes the layers in the board shift and warp/separate generally around the GPU that's why those rrod'd fixes with clamps are sold. It's been on literally 24/7 since I installed it months ago now.

The TV is a HL67A750 LED backlit 67" Samsung.
