I just updated to manager version 4.00.20211207 so I could download a warzone ST for series x, everything went smooth, setup my new ST but now when I pick up my controller I can't use the xbox button anymore.  Loaded a ST that was already made and worked before and it also wont work for the xbox button.  I'm on a one x controller if that matters.  Everything else seems fine when using the controller though.

edit: nevermind, I just restarted my xbox while I waited for a reply to make sure all the other buttons worked and the xbox button was working again. weird.   That being said, shoudl I be using my series x controller now or does it make no difference? another thread said it felt jittery with the new update on the old controller.

I swap between Series X and Xbox One controllers depending on if I'm using NEXUS or APEX. The controller you use makes no difference,  including Smart Translation.

I jist turned on my Xbox for the first time since this thread and once again my Xbox button won't work. I unplugged the cable from my controller to my xim and plugged it back in and it started working again after that. Why would this be happening after updating the firmware? Tempted to go buy a seriex x controller to try (don't have one).

A Series X controller will do the same thing.

Xbox is a picky beast - I have an Xbox One controller connected to my APEX and it doesn’t need the Guide button pressed. But the Series X controller connected to my NEXUS does need the Guide button pressed.

It's never happened before I updated the firmware so I could create seriex x configs.  It's weird. It's not like the controller isn't powered up/on either , it's only the X/home button that won't register any presses. I guess it's not a huge deal if unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it. Haven't had time to actually play any games to see if it stays working.

Rather than constantly plugging & unplugging, buy a short USB cable with a power switch in the middle. Make sure it supports data. You should find them for $5 or $10. Turn the XIM off when the Xbox shuts down, then back on after it's booted up. That'll save significant wear and tear on the XIM USB head and the Xbox port.

That reminds me - do you have the console set to Quick Start in Power settings? If yes, turn that off as it can prevent the USB port from clearing the previous authentication handshake, leading to the unplug / plug merry-go-round.

I do, and I'll try that (thanks), but again.. this only started after updating xim 2 days ago. And the only button that doesn't work on the controller is the x button.

It's just the micro USB to controller connection that I had to unplug, so I'm not worried about that wear too much, but I'd like to not have to do it as it's never happened before in the many years I've been using it. Just seems odd it starred just after updating.

Edit : as per your suggestion, just looking at my settings now, this would be setting it to energy saver instead of standby mode? I don't see any other wording about quick startup like I thought there was before.

That's right - energy saver rather than standby. Quick start may be the PlayStation version.

If this is only affecting the Guide (Xbox) button, it may be an issue with the latest XIM 4 firmware. You may need to perform a Factory Reset to roll it back to an earlier version.

You know what I noticed. So the guide button DOES work when I start Xbox, it stops working when I startup warzone. Then I unplug from the controller and plug it back in and it works. How weird is that!

Consoles are stupid  :D

Glad you worked it out. No idea why that would happen, but a short USB cable will help to power cycle the XIM.

Okay so this is the first time I've gpt to game since I updated it to the update to be able to make configs for series x and it's all sorts of broken now.  The xbox button keeps randomly not working every few games and also the keyboard will just randomly stop working as well even though it's still lit/powered up.  sometimes I can unplug the xim from the xbox and get the keyboard to work.  sometimes i can't.  keep having to restart the xbox.  i've never had issues like this before at all.  also when the xbox stops working, when i go into my config for the game at the bottom it says "c guide" (see link below) which i never notice.

The only way to downgrade firmware is to factory reset which will wipe your device of configs. It would be useful to know if you have the same problems using the old firmware though.
