Technical Support / Mionix Naos 5000 dpi button assignment
« on: 03:13 PM - 03/16/11 »
I've just replaced my logitech mx518 with a Naos 5000, main reasons being the higher dpi and also because it's a very comfortable mouse to hold.
I was hoping I would be able to assign the dpi up/down buttons to my XIM3 to give me more options, but it does not look as if it is possible. I have the latest software and firmware on the Naos
and the latest flash drop for the XIM3.
I have tried various software settings on the Naos ( all burned to its memory ) and the only way I could find a way to get the XIM3 to recognise the dpi buttons was by naming them in the Naos software as a default setting such as scroll up or mouse back / forward etc.
But that just duplicated the existing mouse buttons and both would perform the same assignment.
The Naos software has no Generic setting like the Logitech has.
There is an option for Macros and also an option for assigning a single keyboard press to each dpi button
I tried naming a keyboard press out of curiousity, but as I thought it did not work.
Is this something that could be included in a future update for XIM3 ?
i.e. the mouse recognising a keyboard number?
It would be nice to be able to use the extra two dpi buttons on the mouse  :)

Received the XIM3 today, and WOW.

Simple to update, simple to install, simple to configure.  And Smooooooooooooth to play with.

Only had 45 mins at lunch time to have a play but Im already impressed with it.

The color screen is a breeze to see and all the instructions are simple and easy to follow.

edit:  Just played 5 games in a row and nothing under a KD of 2... loving this XIM3

Really pleased you got one at last  ;D .......never heard you moaning once m8.. 8)
(unlike us whining pommies who got one on the first day lol )

I think that people " demanding" to be given information on International Shipping should remember
that, if a working Intenational Shipping solution is found by the team, then all good and well.....but,
they don't  "HAVE"  to, it will be because they are trying to help customers and the XIM3 store both.

I live in the UK and I tried to buy a pair of New Balance trainers from the USA on Amazon but they were not able to sell that version internationally. I got in touch with Amazon and asked about it and they said
they were not allowed to ship that  trainer to the UK , ...but ...I could order and use a Remailer to ship to the UK. So there you  go, .... if the Store gets up and running with International orders they will be the first to tell you about it ,  patience :)

XIM 3 Discussions / Re: MX 518 Window button bind
« on: 03:19 AM - 02/24/11 »
Sorry if this has been asked before.  I did do some searching and found one topic on this but couldnt quite understand so thought I would throw it out to the community.

I just got a new MX 518 (my old mouse is an mx 318) and had a ?.  On the mx 318 I was able to find the buttons above and below the mouse wheel.  On the mx 518 those buttons are for decreasing and increasing the DPI so obviously I wont want to bind these as it will decrease/increase my dpi everytime I hit them (which is sort of a bummer because I was using those buttons in game, oh well).  My question is can I bind the button below the "-" which I think is the windows button?

I would like to use this for certain things in BOPS probably so I hope it can be bound.

If its as simple as binding like any other key, just let me know.  If I have to do something with the software that comes with the mouse I would appreciate that info as well.  My understanding is that the mouse cannot be "written to" like other mice so it cant remember settings anyway.  Basically I just want to know if that lower button (the windows button) is bindeable (if that is even a word).

Thanks in advance, really appreciate it!

I'm using the MX518 with XIM3 and I was able to map the windows button on the mouse.

I personally decided not to keep using it, as in game I would sometimes hit the button above it that lowers the dpi settings, and when the penny dropped ,and I realised what had slowed things down,
I was dead !  :-[

No, you can contact me if you need something important. OBsIV has PMs disabled now due to abuse.
Thanks, I've had a reply from the store and OBsIV will be informed, so everything's fine if you want to close this thread now.

As for the abuse, that is totally uncalled for!  I think everyone appreciates all the innovative work that the team has put in, apart from a few who are not worth bothering about.

Thanks, I tried to contact OBsIV earlier about something quite important but my message was blocked, I just assumed that it would be the same for Mods.

Can anyone tell me if there is a required number of posts needed before you are able to PM a forum
moderator? I've searched help but can't find an answer ( if it's staring me in the face sorry in advance) :-[

I am using the Madcatz / Call of Duty /Black Ops controller with Xim3 and all the buttons mapped to the Xim3 with no problems for me.

I had a XIM2,

And I'm starting to learn that the XIM3 must have velocity based coding.

I.E.  If you move more mouse very small, move the aim very small.

With the XIM2 it appeared solely based on sensitivity.  So if you moved your mouse very small but had a high sensitivity.  Your aim would be unmanageable.

I went into a few free roams.  And was amazed that with the sniper I could almost... just almost track a guy running around me on a bull.

One time I did kill the bull.  But with the laggy animation of the player getting up did not finish him off.

I won a few showdowns, and got top player award K/D awards. In a handful of games.  Not many players were on last night so didnt play much.
Can I ask you how you got on with weapon selection?

I had a try out on free roam yesterday and I'm still working on the best set up for button assignment. Overall  the game played a whole lot better than I thought it would, and with aim assist turned off I think it's the first time I have ever been galloping on my horse and been able to turn around and actually shoot someone who has been chasing me on horseback! I could never do that using the right stick lol.

The one thing that I am finding difficult at the moment is changing weapons. Using the mouse to select it's easy enough to change between revolvers and rifles, i.e. Twelve and Six o'clock on the weapon wheel: it's the others I find difficult to select, shotgun/ knife etc. so I've been picking up the controller at the moment till I get the hang of it. Mind you it's not the first time I've jumped out on someone with my fists up when I thought I had a shotgun in my hands lol !!!
