Hi Guys, i have a problem with my ps4, when I connect my devices how the example here. than i can not control the volume level on DSS2... is this normal? I have all plugged in as it showed on GreyMouser description http://imgur.com/a/dOJaH

I use this usb soundcard...
http://www.amazon.de/CSL-Soundkarte-Dynamic-Surround-Funktionstasten-schwarz/dp/B00BBCXVG6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418819779&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+soundkarte+csl

is this soundcard the problem?

Sorry for my bad english ;-)

Don't have experience with that card. Perhaps try it without the DSS2? Your soundcard seems to have its own 7.1 surround sound. The Syba USB thing I'm using is 'dumb' (no surround sound).

Maybe Od1n will add to this conversation (maybe in German :) )

Since the Syba seems to be working, might be worth opening up a help ticket with Sony, then. Might get a replacement PS4 out of it.

Oh, and 'you're welcome'. It was kinda fun trying to troubleshoot this. And I had some spare time.

Finally had some 'me' time at home to do this (image album):

Noteworthy pics are #1 and #3. #1 shows the Syba SHOULD BLINK GREEN. #3 shows that the Syba activates C-media audio drivers AND note my comment what happens when I unplug the Syba+attached mic cable from the USB port on the DSS2. It looks VERY similar to what you've described.

So I'm pretty sure your problem is Syba related. Either the hardware itself and/or the inability of the PS4 to recognize it. If the Syba works 100% on your PC, it hints at the latter. But, I'll leave it up to you to decide what you want to do. Don't want to be responsible if nothing you try works  or causes more harm than good, in other words.

EDIT: Thought of one more possibility. The USB port on the DSS2 could be the culprit. Try plugging the headphone cord into the Syba (so both mic and headphone are occupied). Plug Syba into PS4. I'm not at my PS4 now to verify but I think this should trigger the C-media drivers to activate (USB port on the DSS2 is just a passthrough).

Is there any way to update or reset PS4 drivers?  I tried the other USB port and no change, still powers it and the PS4 recognizes nothing.

You're definitely treading into "Do this at your own risk" area. Can't think of any more advice to give, or should give, sorry man. Maybe open up a help ticket with Sony?

Like I wrote before, I'll check my PS4 out tonight, after work. Just to double-check.

You may not want to hear it, but a lot of people seem to love the PS4 Gold wireless headset. Goes on sale every now and then for ~$50-ish. You end up with TWO headsets, but you bypass this entire DSS setup.

65
Maybe the fact that the PS4 doesn't recognize anything plugged in is effecting the USB out on the DSS2?

Could be. Your PS4 optical port is working as you're getting audio. Power through USB is working as you're getting DSS2 power. My syba doesn't light up on the DSS2 either, but it's working as a mic input.

This is REALLY puzzling. Kind of hints at audio-in-through-USB drivers on the PS4. (BTW, I'M REALLY NO EXPERT ON THIS, LOL). I'm kinda stumped. I'll try to check my PS4 settings tonight after work, just to double-check my own settings.

You've tried switching DSS2 to the other PS4 USB port?

@benevolentbacon, from your posts, couldn't tell if you've done some things. So, just for completeness (please don't take this the wrong way, just trying to troubleshoot)

1) You have the dss2 USB plugged into the PS4 for power? Asking bec. I accidentally left my USB plugged into my PC. Had optical plugged in from the DSS but forgot to change the USB. Could hear audio but PS4 couldn't detect mic (Sennheiser PC 360).

2) Regarding mic testing, you've tried the 'accessories' -> 'microphone settings wizard' on the 'Settings' menu? You can hear sidetone (i.e your own voice ) there, for once.

[Idiotic move on PS's part, can't hear sidetone in any game I've tried on the PS4. Can see the speaker icon flashing but can't hear sidetone. Results in me shouting for no good reason, LOL].

You can also try to send a voice message to a random friend to test out mic function. You see if your mic worked in the playback.

3)In audio settings, you've done this, right?

1) USB power is plugged in the front of the PS4

2) Not sure what you're referring to here, I have no options for that anywhere in the PS4 settings that I can find.  Maybe this is because my PS4 is not recognizing the mic or headphones?

I tested the mic on my PC and it works, it should it's brand new.

3) My audio settings are correct, except the output to headphones, because like I mentioned, the PS4 isn't recognizing them even though it's playing sound through them.  I noticed my tv and headphones both have sound coming from them if that makes a difference?  I just mute the TV.

Well, at least we have those points out of the way, eh? TBH, I'm stumped. Have you tried other parts (SYBA and DSS2) on your PC?

Re: rezeneffix's diagram, I have everything hooked like the diagram except the mic. (I'm using the PC 360's headset mic, not a Zalman). Works great!

I honestly can't help you more, sorry. But if I were betting, I'd suspect the Syba and/or the 3.5mm cord (AUX cord) as they're the most cheaply made parts.

YES, answers my question. Thanks for the replies abc' and 'adam.

I actually DO game on wired. But the rest of my family goes wireless. Gotta keep the home front happy, if you know what I mean.

Popped in here as I see netduma_adam's logged in.

I posted a comment earlier (link)

Basically, any plans on improving the wifi output in netduma v2.0?

I prefer having one do-everything router than having two routers ;)

Thanks. But would that cause DHCP conflicts in assigning of ip addresses on my network?

Again, I'm pretty noobish on this.

IF this is the case, though, I could put netuma on bridge mode and have my AC router assign ip's, but I think netduma wouldn't be able to do what it does that way. OR, I could assign one range of ip's (small set) to the netduma and another range of ips to the AC router, I guess. Again, I might be talking outta my @#$%, LOL

basically the second router you turn of the DHCP server, this will make it do pass through and then get assigned to by the main router.  this is known as "bridging" however, there are some issues with this but none that would stop me from doing it.

Thanks! So it would look like this?

[ISP modem] -->[netduma, DHCP off] -->[AC router, DHCP on] --> [clients (incl. my console and PC wired into the AC router's ports)]

EDIT: I would have actually preferred the netduma have the AC/AC-like capability so I could sell the AC router to recoup some of that ~$200 cost

I admit to being one of those 'ignorant about networking' to whom yeesh_dale refers ;D

I thought about buying the router, but lack of AC on the wireless was the biggest turn off. I have a family and (1st world problems) a house that's just big enough to have several deadzones without an AC router. I DEFINITELY game wired. But the rest of my family needs wireless for tablets, phones, etc.

If anyone can convince me that this netduma's wireless signal is ~90% of the signal strength/range of an AC router, please educate me.
You can always connect your OLD router to the Netduma for wireless if you feel the signal isn't strong enough.
