I understand it. But as the BT plays a "small" rol in the beta's architecture, transferring data from PC to Edge, (that's what I understand, forgive me if I am wrong) why has it to be from a particular vendor? Many people are having problems in getting it.
BT plays a huge role. It's how you do all of the configuration now. The reason it's coming from a particular vendor is because it's the only reliable adapter that uses the same chip that XIM4 will use.
The beta won't have wired config. The whole point if the beta is to test out the new features which are dependent upon the Bluetooth
Mouser screwed me. Said 5 were in stock and ready to ship immediately when I ordered and it even went down to 4 after I ordered. Now it says backorered until the 17th.
ciaoooo.
Just got myself the adapter and hub Obsiv said to get. The one place doesn't have the adapters in stock but the other place digi key or whatever does. Got 2nd day shipping. Let it begin!!!!
Yeah unfortunately I couldn't order from Digikey, even when using a VPN it recognized I'm in Japan. I had to use Mouser to ship to an FPO address. Here's hoping that Mouser gets stock in earlier than they say. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
the same problem with me...OBsIV, what is/are the characteristics we have to look for in other adapter? Chip A10? V2? Thanks@OBsIV that's understandable, but such a rip off to send one to Australia $40 shipping on top of the price of dongle lol
You can certainly try the ones you have already when the Beta firmware is released.

Bluetooth adapter e-blue V4 + EDR
Should it work?
We are very close on closing on the BT adapter used for the Beta. If all goes well, it will be announced this weekend. Then, mid-next week the Beta will start.

Should it work?
no idea, but when OBsIV releases the info - you'll know about it
k-crip, I apologize if there were members of the community confusing things concerning release. The Beta is ready. The issue is finding a reliable source of Bluetooth adapters for exiting Edge owners so that can test out the XIM4 firmware. There are a couple of vendors on Amazon with compatible $10 adapters (with Prime shipping) -- which is great. But, the quality/stability of these adapters are terrible. I'd say 1 out of 4 either outright don't work or fail to initialize often. We are trying to locate a better source of Bluetooth adapters for the Beta.
Yes, the retail Edge hardware has never changed.
We are working very closely with the Alpha testers and are finding bugs that are being addressed. Most of the Android issues have been fixed and we have XIM Manager running on all sorts of hardware from Kitkat all the way back to Gingerbread (which is just about all Android devices out there).
We are currently blocked on the BT adapter. We have an $10 equivalent to what we will be shipping with on Amazon worldwide, but, it's giving some of our testers issues. We need to fix these before the Beta goes out.
There will be a lot of information flying around once the beta starts. I know everyone is anxious about it. mist already has a build and has reported a lot of good bugs. Orbital is working through a couple BT connection issues with the phone. Once he is done I'll pass another build to mist (likely tonight, maybe tomorrow). Based on his feedback, I'll then forward to the Alpha testers.
