Commander / Commander app won't start?
« on: 08:53 PM - 01/30/15 »
I am having a weird issue where Commander refuses to start. I click the icon and it does not do anything (XIM4 Manager is running in Commander mode).

Whenever I don't have XIM4 Commander Mode running, Commander app itself will start but obviously will pop up the error that XIM4 Manager isn't started. It's just weird that Commander app refuses to start at all when XIM4 Manager is running in Commander mode.

I started using Commander just last night and last night everything was working flawlessly. When I went to play today, Commander just refuses to start up  :-\

Awesome work BTW Aiken!

Hardware Compatibility / Logitech Racing Wheel
« on: 08:06 PM - 10/01/14 »
So I just got Forza Horizon 2 and was wondering if its possible to use a steering wheel/pedals designed for the PC (Logitech G27) on the Xbox One using XIM4?

Current wheels/pedals designed for Xbox One dont really interest me. The G27 on the other hand looks awesome.

Beta / Can you use Xbox One controller on 360?
« on: 08:59 PM - 06/24/14 »
I'm planning on playing some good old Halo 3 with some friends on the 360. Can I use the XIM4E to use my Xbox One controller?

Do I have to do anything special for the ST or anything? Or do I just pick Halo 3 ST and assign my Xbox One buttons?

What about the sensitivity numbers?

Is it possible to take a single 3.5mm microphone (such as the Modmic) and used some kind of splitter device to connect it to 2 devices at the same time?

It appears that having 2 separate microphones going into a single port is possible, but how about a single mic into 2 recording devices?

General Discussion / Chair Mount Mouse Tray?
« on: 12:13 AM - 05/21/14 »
Was just randomly surfing Amazon looking at computer chairs and saw this thing:

Probably the best implementation of this kind of thing I have seen. Other ones I have seen are super small crappy plastic things that attach to the bottom of your desk and aren't compatible with the height of your chair or armrests. Also seen those ones that lay across your chair arms, essentially locking you into the chair and making you look like a big kid in a baby seat ready to chow down on some baby food.

I can imagine dual wielding these bad boys with the Orbweaver on the left arm and mouse on the right. Looks to have a decent amount of room for your mouse to move around, unlike other implementations I have seen.

What do you guys think?

YouTube has agreed to acquire video game streaming service Twitch for more than $1 billion, sources tell Variety.

The all-cash deal is expected to be announced soon, unidentified sources told the entertainment news site. If completed, the acquisition would be the video-sharing site's largest deal since it was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion in 2006.

A Twitch representative declined to comment. CNET has contacted YouTube for comment and will update this report when we learn more.

Launched in June 2011 by Justin.tv co-founders Justin Kan and Emmett Shear, the company's streaming video platform allows game players to upload and share live game play videos that can be streamed on Microsoft Xbox and PlayStation 4 game consoles. Initially available on PC, Twitch claims about 45 million visitors to its site each month.

YouTube, the web's most popular video site, is expected to face scrutiny from federal regulators concerned that the combination of the two sites would create an anticompetitive climate in the online video market.

The San Francisco-based company closed a $20 million Series C funding round last September that was led by WestSummit Capital and Take-Two Interactive Software, bringing its total funding to $35 million.

General Discussion / Need some streaming help.
« on: 11:16 PM - 04/28/14 »
What is the best way to make it so my voice along with people from game chat or party chat can be heard on the stream?

(using Xbox One by the way, I realize on 360 it was as easy as selecting "play chat through both speakers and headset", but Xbox One doesn't have that option).

I have a Astro Mixamp Pro 2013 and a capture card (Avermedia ExtremeCap U3) that can input audio via HDMI and red/white RCA cables.

Beta / Zowie mouse wheel scroll up/down not working
« on: 03:57 PM - 04/20/14 »
Hey Obsiv, with the team currently working on getting Logitech buttons/keystrokes working properly, is it possible to look at the problem with the Zowie line of mice as well? The scroll up/down on the mousewheel is not recognized by the XIM Manager at all. The same problem exists on the XIM3 and XIM Edge and has carried over to the XIM4E Beta as well.

If there is anything I can post up for you to give you an idea of what is causing the problem, let me know!

Zowie mice do not use any special drivers and are known for being simple plug'n'play mice. Not sure why the mouse wheel doesn't work (clicking the mouse wheel down works, but scrolling up/down doesn't). As far as I know the problem exists on all Zowie mice (I own the EC2 and FK and mousewheel scroll doesn't work on either one).

So interested in picking up a capture card for streaming and recording.

Been looking at 3 models:

- Elgato Game Capture HD (USB 2.0)
- Avermedia Live Gamer HD (PCI-e card)
- Avermedia ExtremeCap U3 (USB 3.0)

They are all similarly priced so I was wondering if anyone could make a reccomendation.

From what I understand, some cards are more suitable for people for people with lower spec computers because they have take some of the stress off the computer. And there are those that take advantage of good computer hardware that people already have.

I already have a decent PC rig that I built 2 years ago with the following specs:
CPU: Intel i7 2600k
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3

What would you guys recommend from those 3 options? Feel free to recommend any other card that I may not have looked at yet.

Beta / Mic chat static with certain setups?
« on: 01:57 AM - 04/07/14 »
So today I thought I would try connecting my Orbweaver keypad and Zowie mouse directly to the XIM4E (without having my IOGEAR KVM switch in the mix) to see if there were any differences in responsiveness.

Immediately my teammates started complaining of my voice having a static noise through the mic. Has anyone else experienced their mic chat (output to other players, not input) having static noise with certain setups?

In my testing it has been like this:

Orbweaver/Zowie mouse -> IOGEAR KVM switch -> 4 port HUB -> XIM4E = no issues at all, clear mic chat
Orbweaver/Zowie mouse -> 4 port HUB -> XIM4E = eliminating the KVM switch introduces static to the outgoing mic chat

Perhaps a power issue, as the KVM supplies my peripherals with more power since it is connected to both my PC USB ports and the XIM? So when it is removed, there is less power being supplied? Not sure.

A new 1404 system update starting to deploy tonight!

We have started to deploy the latest 1404 update (xb_rel_1404.140331-2200). Consoles that are in standby mode will be able to install the update starting at 7:30PM PDT on 4/2.  Consoles that have not received the update in standby mode by 1:00AM PDT on 4/4 will be prompted to install the update when they connect to Xbox Live. The following changes are contained within this build:

Ongoing fixes and adjustments to the user interface.
Additional fixes to address audio crackling sound encountered when Dolby Digital is enabled.
Fixes for Blu-ray software issues that can result in 0x21 or 0x87de07d1 errors.
Update to address an issue where ejecting a Blu-ray disc after the drive is idle can result in the disc being pulled back in, requiring a second eject command.
Fix to address Kinect not responding to “yes” or “no” after issuing the “Xbox, turn off” command.
Updates to reduce or eliminate Blu-ray drive “seeking” sounds after drive is idle (experienced in the 1403 update.)
Update to help address controller disconnect issues.
Update to help address headset adapter audio quality.
Fix for LiveTV audio outputting in stereo instead of surround sound.
Update for the Blu-ray player to fix an issue where it can freeze if left idle or paused for an extended period of time.
Update to fix an issue where fast forwarding or rewinding an external video source results in screen freezing when surround sound is enabled.
Fix for video playback stuttering while audio plays back normally in several apps (Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, etc.)

Features Enabled

Game save progress bar will now display when syncing cloud game saves.
50Hz Blu-ray player support for content recorded at 50Hz.
Improved GameDVR video quality.
Online friends notification, including the ability to filter notifications to all friends, favorites only, or disable friends online notifications altogether.
*NEW FEATURE* Requested by the update preview community: Manually install available updates. If a new system update is detected as available, a button will appear under Settings, System that will display “Apply Available System Update.” Note: this feature is being enabled after this current update completes installation. This feature will be available to preview when the next update is made available.
*NEW FEATURE* A new ability to automatically redeem a license code from console messages. For future console messages that include a 5x5 license code, a new option will appear to allow you to automatically redeem the license, versus having to copy and paste the license code.

Known Issues

Some preview participants may encounter an issue where the Blu-ray drive will not ingest a disc after the console has been idle for a period of time. The disc will need to be removed and re-inserted for the disc to be ingested. A fix for this issue is currently being tested.
Some preview participants may encounter an issue where some non-Blu-ray disc media types are pulled back into the Blu-ray disc drive after being ejected, requiring a second eject command. A fix for this issue is currently being tested.
In this version of the 1404 update, the startup process of a console doing a cold boot up (systems that are configured for power saving mode, versus instant on) will encounter a delay of approximately 30 seconds, during which a solid black screen is displayed. This issue is not present for consoles powering up from a standby state. A fix for this issue is currently being tested.
During silent update installation some devices controlled by the Xbox One via IR (TVs, receivers) may power up in the middle of the update process and not power back down. The developers are investigating this issue.

Hopefully it doesn't mess with the audio passthrough on the XIM considering that there is a new controller firmware update.

They are finally enabling the friends notifications though, so that is great  :)

Hardware Compatibility / Logitech Gaming Software
« on: 05:27 AM - 03/28/14 »
Is there a way to set a button to Generic Button in LGS? Only seem to be able to set buttons to other Mouse Functions, Keyboard Keys or Multikey Macros under the options.

This is using the G500S by the way. I'm trying to set the Left and Right tilt wheel buttons to Generic, because they don't work properly when set as Left/Right Scroll.

Beta / Mouse Polling Rates
« on: 02:33 AM - 03/26/14 »
Has there been any changes to the recommended polling rates for mice on next gen consoles?

What would be the best rate to use? (125, 250, 500, 1000)

Beta / Getting a more PC-like experience/behavior?
« on: 05:46 AM - 03/23/14 »
I've heard of people running the same sensitivity numbers for HIP and ADS in order to get the XIM to behave more like mouse and keyboard behaves on PC (no slow down when ADSing, basically).

Thought I would give it a shot and see if I like the feeling. I guess it would also be good to use a single translator for both HIP and ADS in order to have the same movement behavior when ADSing. So either HIP + HIP translator or ADS + ADS translator. What would you guys suggest? Running ADS translator for both, or HIP?

By the way, this is for COD: Ghosts.

Beta / XIM4E power on triggered by Xbox One fixed?
« on: 08:02 PM - 03/16/14 »
Seems as though this bug has been fixed in the latest build. Just thought it was interesting because it was not listed in the changelog for the new build and is still listed as a bug on the Issues List?

Functions fine now  ;D
