With that said, I hate to say this, I update all the time and lean on the XIM team to guide me on what I should be using firmware wise. Great job on their dedication on trying to roll out a fix and I appreciate it TONS!!

You can roll back to our latest retail firmware if you'd like, but, there are people that are continuing to use the BETA firmware because either they want to help us continue refine it or they, in fact, like the way it performs in general.

I would love to stay to with the beta build versus the retail build. Unfortunately, I can't seem to feel the drift that everyone talks about? I mean, I don't see a difference to be honest with you...I would love to help with the obvious issues that I encounter but perhaps it's a placebo effect. Since I'm using the latest beta build I feel like it's not right in some way share or form but I can't really tell what the issue is. Something is weird but can't pinpoint it. OR it's all in my head.

I would like to continue with the support and see whether to stay or revert back. I always like running with the latest firmware. This is a stupid question but would you mind sharing what fix was made to the version or subsequent versions and perhaps I know what aspects to test or feel? Or will that give away too much secrets :)

For what it's worth, apparently this is the case but I'm still going by heresay in all different forums that I'm on. No actual screenshot/release notes but everywhere is resonated the same, in that, everything is working again as it should. NO KICKS.

I love their support and will continue to support them. Unfortunately, even though I am one of the first to install the latest and greatest firmware, good or bad, I really don't know what the heck I'm looking for? I have read every post in every beta firmware and I'm like...*scratchhing my head*  :o I guess it seems to lean right. I guess it's kinda wonky it's not aiming properly or whatever.

With that said and my long winded appreciation and issue, should we load up the lower version or is the latest and greatest version work the same? I know tweaks have been done to the beta builds but once again I look forward to the XIM team to let us know what we really should use... (only because I don't know what exactly is the different or I don't see it :( )

Help?

I'm hearing all around that this is the case. In other words, stock or original firmware should work again? Is that true? Can someone actually confirm?  In either case, what are our next steps with the latest beta updates installed?

PRO-TIP: Don't hold down the same directional keys for long periods of time.

I haven't tried this yet but what do you mean about not holding down the same directional keys for long periods of time? What will happen if I do? I know when I run forward to let's say running away from the storm, is that considered don't hold down the same directional keys for a long period of time? Should I be letting it autorun?

Glad to hear that people are getting to play fortnite with some beta patches.

Unfortuneately i have not been able to play as i use a xim4 and so far there is no support for the classic users of xim to fix fortnite.

umm Right here.

Honestly I see how XIM users has an advantage over controller users but PC M/K users definitely has an advantage over XIM users.

Heck you can make the argument that with enough practice a controller user can beat XIM users and go even further to say they can probably beat a PC user but those cases are very rare. Maybe more so controller users beating XIM users but definitely a RARE case that a controller beats a PC.

Ok this sounds confusing but my point is every game has a tool that's mean to be used. Driving games with a steering wheel, flight sticks for flying and in my opinion mouse/ keyboard for 1st person shooters.

Yes you can play any of those games with a controller and it should be left to the user what tool they would use to give them an advantage.

You may have to pay extra to buy something (joysticks, steering wheel, XIM) etc but that's your prerogative.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry to ask but is there a mac version?

Everything related to Apple concerning development for their platform is about 10x more difficult and time-consuming compared to everything else. So, once things are validated the changes will be applied to XIM4 (and the Mac flash tool).

Understood. My main machine is a MAC but I always have a PC on standby well not really on standby but if I ever need one I can always boot it up.

Either way, I'm fine and have tested the build and it works great so far in terms of not being kicked. I can't really say much about the exact science whether it feels right. It seems right to me but I can't really tell. It's like that one post that was made here where folks had issues with aiming and something changed with fortnite but I never really noticed till someone pointed it out and you guys rolled out an update on the ST. :)

Either way, I look forward to the updated build. I know if it's not broken don't fix it but I always look for the latest and greatest :)

On the other hand, I'm hoping whatever the science is behind with the fix (would actually like to know if you would like to share) but I hope that Fortnite doesn't change something again where we definitely will be stuck.

General Discussion / Sony NAV vs Keyboard Poll?
« on: 01:53 PM - 10/12/18 »
I'm interested in getting a Sony Nav but wondering what reasons people have in choosing one over the other.

I know people also sometimes are playing on a couch and don't really have a proper realstate to have a keyboard so the Sony Nav makes sense but when choosing the Nav, are people seeing real limitation?

Obviously keyboard will always be better but I'm seeing people are making it work with the Sony Nav;

So far so good, played about an hour already, approximately 3 to 4 games and didn't get kicked. Will keep checking.
Using apex?

Yes using an Apex with my G13 and G502, along with the Titan2. Before it kicked me out and now with the experimental build, it hasn't.

But are you usong your mouse and the keys of the keyboard?

Yes this using the keys and not using the mini joystick on the G13.

Essentially using everything as usual.  Played all night without an issue. Will try again today. As far as the user experience I'm not sure if it's better or worse. It feels fine. Aside from me not aiming or bloom kicking in harder or just simply I suck at aiming I think it's me and not the ST. :)

This is an experimental build (likely the first of several) designed to address the Fortnite disconnect issue. This build will work with all games, but, it's designed for Fortnite and it's advised to only use it for that game for now. If you want to downgrade back to an earlier build, make sure to back up your Configs so you can restore them when downgrading.

The build is for XIM APEX only at this time (PC flash tool only). XIM4 will be updated once it is validated on XIM APEX.

Please leave your feedback here and let us know:

1) Do you get disconnects, if so, how often and how far into the game do you get?
2) How does player control feel to you?

I know some use the G13 for the analog stick but it's a little knobby thing that I can't get use to using it as a movement stick.

Here's a mod a forum member posted recently

Thanks for that link.

We are working on it. Give us a couple days please to ensure the fix is sound.

Would love to Alpha or Beta test it for the time being while you work on getting it GOLD. :)

Seriously, awesome support but I wished we didn't have to deal with this cat and mouse game.

Are you using the analog stick for movement?

no, i actually use the keys for movement. Honestly, I know some use the G13 for the analog stick but it's a little knobby thing that I can't get use to using it as a movement stick. Here is the weird thing (not sure if this helps).

Since all my settings are jacked up, I have been using the scuff controller on my left hand which is connected to the XIM Apex Hub for movement. There are obviously some keys I can't use without playing twister with my hand. From time to time, I would use my G13 normally for a few seconds/couple minutes and then realize I need to go back to my controller before I get kicked out. Hasn't kicked me out yet but using it sporadically seems to work? Obviously this is not ideal.
