The new board looks great.  Thanks to the XIM team for all the hard work.  I am glad I waited.

IF
I had a XIM2.  I would be playing COD4, then in the next few weeks Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, and Call of Duty 5.

Oh the jealousy that flows through my veins.

Support / Questions Regarding Status of XIM360.
« on: 07:30 AM - 10/15/08 »
We were informed of a demand check on 10/9/08
Right now we have a shortage on one of our chips that is used on the XIM 2 board. The shortage could last until next year. To determine if it is worth our time or not to change the software and hardware design over to a new chip, we need to see how many people want either an XIM 2 DIY or Prebuilt.

Please post here immediately to let us know how many of you are wanting KIT's/Prebuilts. If certain numbers aren't met, XIM 2 will be delayed until further notice.

Thanks

So what is the plan if a plan has been decided upon?

I have kept up a list of people and what they want to order located here: http://xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=1286.0

The order count within 6 days is up to (give to take a few) 200.  It should be well over 200 by the end of the week.

I am guessing that the amount of orders that were made is high enough "to change the software and hardware design over to a new chip".  Some updated information would be nice.  It seems that questions asked directly over IRC are avoided (maybe because there is no answer or maybe because I am a new guy here and listed under the unimportant group).

pre built please however im happy to buy a diy and ship it to a couple of the guys who are more than capable of putting one of these bad boys together
;D

I am sure if a couple of those bad boys could advertise their services a lot of us (ahem, ME!) would order a DIY as well. If I knew that last time I know I would have taken the plunge! :P

I agree.  I am back and forth on waiting for an XIM2 or just go ahead with the XIM1.  Hopefully derektm can give us some information soon.  I would love a prebuilt.

Derek & Co., any word on what number(s) you are targetting? I could order a couple extras if needed because I know a number of people once they hear about it first hand from me (via experience) they will be all over it. I think the DIY kit was a good example of how even after orders closed people continued asking for the device. One (a) there is availability (b) the website is updated and (c) more media is available I am sure that you guys could move twice the units asked for in this thread in CY2008, easily at that. I am actually surprised there isn't much media out there to show off the XIM2 which that, along with the website/availability, has a big impact on demand. Look at all the sub-5 post "orders."

Anyhow, you guys have done a good job and hopefully there is enough demand to justify the quickest solution :)

According to my count here:  http://xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=1286.msg13567#msg13567
We are up to around +-191 as of 8:57am on Tuesday the 14th

XIM 1 Discussions / EBAY what a Crock... XIM/XFPS story...
« on: 07:26 AM - 10/13/08 »
So I had been watching ebay all weekend.  I found an original XFPS (black) for the 360 and an XIM1 together in a bundle.  I was on top of the bid all weekend and it got down to the last minute.  It was back and forth bids between me and another guy. He outbid me with 10 seconds to go.  By the time I enter in the final price to beat his bid I had 4 seconds left.  I clicked submit and I ran out of time "Sorry you were outbid".  He ended up getting an XFPS and a XIM1 for less then $90.  My highest bid was $85.01 and his was $86.01.  Honestly I blew up.  The prices of an XFPS alone is $60+ and the price of an XIM1 is $70+.

I don't own a 360 yet but my plan is to either get a XIM1/XFPS combo for less then $100 with shipping or wait until I can get my hands on a XIM2(which will probably be next year if ever), then purchase a 360.  I know the XIM2 prebuilds go for $150 but with the XIM1's you have to buy a wireless headset so it actually evens out.

Man I hate ebay.  I was already offered a XIM2 for $175 without shipping and that is way too high.  I am desperate but I am not willing to pay a ridiculously overpriced amount for something that is already ridiculously high anyways.  If anyone wants to get rid of there XIM1+XFPS for less then $100 with shipping or even there XIM2 prebuilt for less then $155 with shipping I would appreciate an PM.  Otherwise I will probably save my money and stick with PC gaming...

XIM 2 Discussions / Re: XIM2 in living room setup?
« on: 03:35 PM - 10/12/08 »
I wouldn't even begin to wrap my brain about how to have a living room setup usually.  HOWEVER...it would involve a wireless keyboard and mouse and my 40" samsung 1080p setup.  Then the PC would be hooked up via DVI to HDMI input and the XBOX to the VGA input.  w00t.
I can then change inputs via remote.

This is all in theory of course.  I haven't actually tried it.  Nor do I intend to.
I do have a piece of wood that's a pretty good sized cutting board that I found at a yard sale.  It's like maybe twice the size of my normal cutting board.  I use it as a laptop holder.  So...I would probably just put my keyboard and mouse on it.  w00t

I am right with you.  I would love to play my setup on my 40" in the living room but It would end up just being a mess of equipment.  I can keep it hooked to my 22" monitor and it will be just fine without the mess.

Are there anymore adapters that work.  I can find different ones off ebay including an TAC.  Could someone make an updated list?  I plan to purchase one soon.

11
Get a full list here: http://xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=1286.0

All either want a DIY or a Prebuilt.  Looks like a huge order.  Looks about 200 people just eyeing it.  Hopefully the orders can be fulfilled eventually.  I am ready and willing to pay whatever for a prebuilt.  Just let me know when you are ready.  Thanks ahead of time..

Had a dream last night after making this list that I actually got a XIM2.  I hope and pray to get one soon so I can go ahead and purchase a 360.

12
Your favorite beta tester would love another DIY kit maybe 2.

Yes, my prototype works fine. I support this project completely and I will get one to support the cause. I am sure others if they know they are coming will pre pay in advance as well to help out with the costs of MFG and design. Whatever it is, let me know.

<<<< MY precious revision A, how I love you so.

I am with you now.  After a lot of thought I want to support this project 100%.  I hope to get a pre-built soon so I can go ahead and purchase a 360.  I will prepay in advance if I know they are coming for sure.

13
Could someone help me find this?

Nothing scientific, but just some interesting things I noticed while messing around in the members list area.

1147 registered members
598 members with 0 posts
549 members with at least 1 post
about 250 active members with multiple posts (10+)

initial XIM2 board order was 200
lets assume a low 5% fail rate
190 usable XIM2 to be made
leaves only about 60 active users needing a XIM2
76% of active members likely have a XIM2 or will have one once prebuilts are distributed

Perhaps present demand isn't as high as people think. I'm sure some of the low post members might just be lurking waiting on announcements of stock, but still, the overall community is still small by all accounts. Even if you take the full membership of 1147, compared to the 10 million plus 360's that's an extremely small number.

I'm sure in the future demand will increase once the product is more well known, but at the moment it still appears to be a small community.

So for all the people wondering why they aren't ordering boat loads of XIM2 boards, perhaps this might explain it a little bit.

Thanks for the info.
