General Discussion / Re: Xbox next-gen 720 details leaked.

There are a number of rumors out there, another one has it speculated as 8 cores each with 2 threads and GPUs anywhere from APUs, 6670 class up to Pitcairn (7850) class.

Configurations and Requests / Re: Halo 4 XIM2 Config Done
« on: 04:39 PM - 11/17/12 »
I spent some time today trying to tweak Mad Clowns profile (thanks again!!)

I tested the dead zones and it is 7550. That seemed to help with the touchiness I was having.

As of 11/17:

Update Rate: 75
Zone Size: 7550
Shape: Circle
XY Ratio: 1.8
Translation Exp: 0.35
Sensitivity: 4500
Diagonal Dampening: 0.2
Smoothness: 0.0

Maxed out my G9 (3200 dpi) on a 13x7 monitor. This is not perfect but it is good and I am playing incrementally better with it. Thanks to Clown for his profile to work from.

topic creators config works really well, friend of me is currently using it and is very happy!

I am using it as well (a mod added it) with a 0.5 translation. Works well enough, no major complaints. A little slightly rough for fine movements but good enough for a 2:1 KDR in my first 10 online matches today. I am not really great and have not pulled out the Xim since last year so I am pretty happy.

I also used my exact profile from Reach and seems to be spot on.  I don't think it is exactly the same as MadClown's but just like him i used my halo3/reach profile.  I'll post it up after work as my dpi is different so if any users want to try it.

i used the Razer Naga 2012(1000 Hz) at 5600 DPI, i'll post profile specs tonight.

some footage of the profile in use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCxHdQYWVXU

Vid looks good, I would like to give your profile a try :) I have a Logitech G9.

I used the same config I used for Halo 3(square DZ) and Reach.  And It feels spot on to me, the game has very responsive controls compared to previous Halo games.

Sensitivity: 5250
Deadzone: Circular 8729
Diagonal Dampen: 0.2
Ratio: 2
UpdateRate: 75
Smoothness: 0

I use a Steel Series Sensei(1000hz) at 2000 DPI for this config

Do you have a Translation Exponent? I put in 1.0 and the config works. A little jumps for small movements but definately functions--thanks!!

EDIT: I tried 0.5 for translation and that helped a bit.

XIM 2 Discussions / Advantages to Xim2 over Xim 3 / Edge?
« on: 01:04 PM - 11/03/12 »
Are there any advantages to the Xim 2 over the 3 or Edge?

* One thing I can think of is that there is no need for an additional controller as the Xim 2 is a controller.

* iirc there were some 3rd party software hacks that provided some joysticks and wheels?

* You don't have to pay for Smart Profiles (kind of like saying, "Since you are too short for the rollercoaster you cannot die on a rollercoaster" back handed compliment--I would pay $20 for a Halo 4 smart profile in a heartbeat, so, uh, yeah.)

* Manual profiles mean you can get it to work for any game w/o the need to buy a Smart Profile (Edge has these as well) and since it is connected to the PC you can make changes and adjustments VERY quickly.

Anything else?

Obviously the Xim Edge:

(1) Xbox 360 AND PS3 support.
(2) Does not require a PC connection during game play.
(3) Most importantly support "Smart Profiles" for the best experience.
(4) Available.
(5) Cheaper MRSP ($179 vs. $89, although you can no longer buy a Xim2 new).

Full Disclosure: I am seriously contemplating getting a Xim Edge but the deal with the wife is I need to move my Xim 2 along first. I LOVE the Halo 3 smart profile on Xim 2 so I am pretty sold on the idea but the question is what do you lose moving off the Xim 2 and, quite frankly, why would anyone want to buy my Xim 2 (even at a steep discount)?

Are there any Xim2 users getting Halo 4 and planning to submit a config?

I have not played much since my surgery but I wanted to fire up the Xim2 when I get Halo 4 next week... but I will need some help setting up a config seeing as I am not a great config maker. I was tempted to get a Xim Edge (sweet kit) but cannot really afford it and my Xim2. So use what you got :)

I look forward to seeing a config or two or three. :)

While I find Zen's works well, I do agree it is not very good with sniping as it does seem to jerk. I am using the deadzone size from Mist which is an improvement over the 3800 figure.

Hmm, ok. I'll talk to Orbital about it today and get an estimate. If he can crank it out in less than an hour, I'll ask him to do it.

I will toss my hat in the pile of wanting Flight Stick support. I have only been searching the last 20 minutes or so, so maybe there is a solution for the Xim 2 (which I have), but I would love, LOVE, flight stick support in Battlefield 3.

Anyhow, thanks again for the great product. I would not enjoy FPS on the consoles without the Xim, so thanks again :)

hands up if you think OBsIV should make a xim2 smart translator for reach? as a primer to keep us happy ;D

Pointless. I personally think my home brew configs are better than the smarts. I'm happy with the settings I personally came up with :).

The smart profile out generally received better marks than hand crafted ones and technically it is better--so it isn't pointless. What is pointless is badgering OBsIV about it. I most Xim2 users would want a smart profile and are sad they aren't coming. But his position is understandable, even if we don't like it. So lets not destroy this thread about it. Keep it on target ;)

I won't have Halo Reach until tomorrow (don't ask me how "shipped Friday" results in sitting in their warehouse for 4 days!!) but with all the new configs popping up I wanted to see what the current consensus was in regards to which was the best thus far.

This should be a nice place to expose people to new configs, give a baseline to what configs look like, and hopefully start some new refinements--if all goes well maybe we can do a new poll for all the new/revised configs :D

Please link to any other configs you vote for. Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Train your mouse hand: "Reflex"
« on: 05:29 PM - 09/09/10 »
Cool, didn't know what to expect. First round through:

Score: 154000
Accuracy: 90%
Round: 11
Hits: 309
Misses: 31

It gets crazy toward the end, that is where I began missing a lot. I also am not good enough to get to them when they first appear and are small, so I was getting most of them half their peak size. I got on a roll at the end when they were getting big :D But then they just overwhelm you. Cool game, nice for practicing snap movements.
