Thanks for the feedback guys, and I have to agree that 16gigs of ram is probably overkill, but its dirt cheap nowadays and I figured might as well. I also found a 6970 for dirt cheap, so I don't have to worry about my card being able to oc or unlock.

Hey guys, as some of you know I just built my first rig by myself about 3 months ago and am loving it (2600k ud7 build). Now my nephew wants me to build him a pc with a budget of 2k.

This is the build I wanna do, if you more experienced builders have any feedback please let me know.

i7 2600k
gigabyte g1 sniper2 z68 mobo
16 gigs dual channel corsair vengeance 1600mhz
2gb 6950 (will do the 6970 oc)
1tb western digital black sata 3 (data)
120gb Corsair Force series Sata 3 (os/ key programs)
Either an Antec 1200 or Df-85 matched with a cpx-1000 (love my df-85 and cp-1000 combo, so much bang for buck)

Lemme know what you guys think, and oh this is a gaming build obviously.

Xbox titles only play at 5.1 to the best of my knowledge, so buying a 7.1 headset is like buying a 1200p monitor when again the xbox titles only play @ a maximum resolution of 720p.

I am using the Iogear USB KVM.


It doesn't seem to make any difference how long I wait before switching back to the XIM from PC.  I have waited up to 5min before switching back to XIM.

Can anyone else with a KVM report how things are working?

My iogear usb switch works perfectly with this build, and every build prior. My swich is not that exact model though, my model number is GCS22U.

Heh, 15cm 180 for me, with my ads at about 70% of that. Biggest edition of Razer Goliathus ftw. : )
Lowering your sensitivity is akin to buying a higher dpi mouse, it makes your movement onscreen more precise as there is more input data going into the movement.

Are you using secondary sensitivity delay? It sounds like you're not, and that period of when the hip spread is transitioning to full ads is throwing off your aim, as your sensitivity is going to be quite a bit higher when you engage the ads config.

I'm from BC (West coast of Canada), Pacific Timezone (gmt -8).
I never played on a very high level, just esea pickup games and stuff like that.
I have however been competing on console ever since I got my xim1 (cod4 through bops).
I'm an SnD type of guy, but have been slowly making the transition over to variant and mapgen over the past month or 2.

Hit me up for a couple of friendly games. : )

there is only one problem.  there aren't any good PC games that need nearly that much juice.   

Looking to the future mate, not to mention I do alot of video editing and rendering.

Awesome hitman spec looks very good and will overclock really well too.
Have you ordered the SSD yet?  If not chekc out the new Agility 3's there due any day now and I spoke to the OCZ guy the other day and he told me there struggling with speed binning the vertex chips so there going into the agility 3's hence 525mb writes and 50,000 IOPs

Oh and hit me up when you have it all setup and i'll help you flash that 6950 to a 6970 step by step

Sounds good man, I'm probably not going to even start building till May long weekend (21-23), because I go on holidays right after that, and I want to put it together all in 1 go, but I'll definately be taking you up on that offer man. This build was greatly inspired by your advice. : )

Haha, I would, but I already "donated" (sold for stupid low price) my old pc to my roommate. I'm stoked on putting this baby together though, just looking at that parts list is making my mouth water, been looking at a 2600k build for so long now. : P
