General Discussion / Re: Xim Compatible Wireless Mice
« on: 08:49 PM - 02/19/20 »
The 3 best in my opinion are:

1) G Pro Wireless.

2) Razer Viper

And substitute either with the G502 if you need more buttons.

If you are on party chat and want to hide the fact that you are using M&KB from your team, do not listen to any advice about mechanical keyboards. Red switches with dampeners is still VERY noticeable over the mic.

Your best option would be to get a high quality scissor keyboard, I highly recommend the K780. There's a huge scissor keyboard guide in my signature.

I hate to break it to you guys but there's work to be done.

Stop whining to ObsIV on this forum and get out there and help.

When Halo 5 and R6 were broken as hell (both still are, but less so), I was on every forum and sub-Reddit campaigning for months and helping boost other posts advocating for the same. I was submitting tickets and trying to get heard. This is the only way to progress the issue. It's annoying we have to do their jobs, but the work to be done is outside this forum, the XIM team can't do anything about this.

I am the master of hacking this thing to get it to work the way I want:)

Ok if you use a Titan Two in order to use an auto sprint / easy sprint script, you may have come across a seemingly insurmountable problem: how do you prevent Super Sprint from inadvertently activating?

Firstly let's take a step back. There's two ways you can program Easy Sprint:

1) You can repeatedly tap on the Sprint button which inadvertently activates Super Sprint, or;

2) You can just tap the Sprint button just once (when you walk forward).

At first glance, the latter implementation appears to be the only way to solve the problem, but it has some serious issues - because the Sprint button is only pressed once, certain actions will break you out of a sprint, and your script will not be smart enough to know when to re-engage - for example, when you slide. The solution might seem easy - program a delay, so if you slide, Easy Sprint presses the button a second time after a certain duration. This is very difficult to get right due to all the complex scenarios - for example what if you slide off a ledge? That 2 second timer you programmed might not be adequate anymore, because it might be 3 seconds before you actually hit the ground. It's complicated, leads to a whole host of false positives, and never really works that well.

So after a lot of testing I have found the solution! In conjunction with a script that is designed to repeatedly tap the Sprint button (see #1 above), you map the XIM as follows:

And tada! This is how it's done!

1) Scissor keyboard. Don't be fooled by "silent" red switches - everyone in your party will hear you. There is no hiding it, unless you're playing a super loud game like COD.

2) Angle snapping. It makes your mouse movements look less jittery.

3) Soft mouse pad. Also reduces jitter, potentially.

And there used to be this bug where you'd need to change your deadzones or something every time you booted up. This game also went through about 2-3 years worth of crippling bugs. Those of us who have stuck around since beta know a little something about what "rough" really means!

It get's worse. The game still has a bug similar to this. Deadzone changes aren't accurate until the entire game is restarted. Example:

Starting DZ: 10
Stick value: 7,000

New DZ: 15
Stick value: 9,000

After restarting the game
DZ: 15
Stick value: 14,000

The default value is already 10. Iím confused what exactly should we do? Can you step us through this? I wonder if this explains why some of us found 4.4 unplayable.

Velocity jumps, time based acceleration, lack of micro aim. There is more but that's off the top of my head. Translators can't produce movement if it's not there.

And the sad thing is, it was even worse at launch. This is one of the most reworked ST's Mist has ever done if I recall correctly.

Nothing is retrained, we can't make it better given what Ubisoft produced. The "updated" one is .4. Classic is .5. If you liked things before this updated thing, then, classic is for you.

I thought so. Thanks for confirming.

It's released.

Is this v4.4 or a retrained one on the Updated setting?

Tonight.
So we will have to recreate game profiles again? Or let's say I have both of them already can I use them without making new ones.

Depends on whether 4.6 is just 4.4 or whether Mist took the opportunity to retrain it. It looks like we're nearing an end to this saga.

I've got something like 3k hours on Siege (haven't checked in a while) so my muscle memory with 4.3 / 4.5 is strong. Knowing this, I intentionally played only the PC version for the entire week leading up to the 4.4 release to try to create a more neutral baseline. So I'm pretty certain my thoughts on 4.4 are mostly unbiased (hated it!).

I think we're all waiting with baited breath to see what Mist comes up with next. Part of me is simply terrified lol.

Do you have pets in the house? If so try a hard mouse pad. I had a jittering problem and I realised it was due to micro hairs from my cat being caught in my soft mousepad over time. I switched to a hard one and have never looked back.

I have so many problems with tendons in my hands. I wonder if this will help.

If we can't do better than what we have, then, I'm going to simply replace the current ST with .4.

Oh dear god please no.

4.3 / 4.5 supporters here are in the minority because this thread is all about 4.4.

Just like if you went into a 4.3 / 4.5 thread from a few weeks ago it was the complete opposite.

Please don't forget that.

4.4 is junk imo, but you won't hear many people saying that right now because those that are happy are not here posting - they're out there playing.

I think you meant *not likely to be a broken XIM4 piiwii :)

lol yeah, that comment irritated me so much I kind of mashed that out in anger.
