XIM 4 Discussions / Re: Halo 5 Sniper trigger delay?
« on: 11:11 PM - 11/07/15 »
I have my doubts it's the bullet magnetism that creates the delay, because it's applied before you have your reticle on the target. Even though it has much less reticle slowdown and magnetism than Call of Duty, which is insanely high (especially when you go into ADS), the whole idea is still pretty ridiculous, because like the ADS snap in CoD, it looks like you're not supposed to hit those shots.

The Steam Controller should be the new standard for console FPS, so that reticle slowdown, reticle magnetism, ADS snap, bullet magnetism, etc. doesn't have to be a thing. Not as versatile as the GameCube gamepad and others like it, but definitely much more precise.

Also worth noting that every other installment has an input lag of 60-110 ms, and the same is true for Halo 5 as well; don't know by how much, but I can definitely tell there's latency in my shots. This doesn't go for just the Sniper, but every weapon.

Imagine a game like ARMA 3 or Rust, where you have vast landscapes with tonnes of trees and buildings that has to be rendered, if you get frame drops because of it, it doesn't matter how slow you're turning, it's going to happen regardless.

Anyway, on a slightly relevant note, pretty much every console game's motions/game speed are frame rate dependent; using vertical synchronization with double buffer, which introduces some insane amount of input lag (60-150 ms).
I don't know why they do this, but I'd assume it's easier to work around the performance limit, as well as reduces as many external variables as possible, so it's the same for most.

Throughout the project we have worked hand in hand with the 343 Pro team, Microsoft User Research, and test teams and of course absorbed the awesome feedback from the Halo 5 Beta to tune and validate our control systems to what we believe to be the sweet spot for fine control with fast turn speed across all aiming ranges, on all weapon types.

This is what makes me believe we won't see faster turn speeds, however, hopefully they'll introduce options like Povohat's mouse driver, or that we can get rid of the game's acceleration completely and ObsIV implements it, because the current ballistic curve is very unpredictable.
With Povo's, I can have a low and high sens at specific speeds, while with the ballistic curve it craps out at the low, while it doesn't speed up to the cap fast enough at the high; not like Povo's anyway.
I've tried with a high base sens and a low, straight ballistic curve, and a low base sens with a steep ballistic curve. Maybe it's me who've misunderstood how it's supposed to work, but I really wish either the XIM or Halo will bring the way Povo works.

XIM 4 Discussions / Re: about type of keyboards and XIM4
« on: 05:31 PM - 10/24/15 »
I recommend mechanical keyboards, and the reason I would stay away from rubber domes is, the keys get worn out after just 2-3 years of use and become sluggish. However, keep in mind that mechanical keyboards are rather loud and the noise dampening accessories that you can buy doesn't really help; to really make them less silent, you need to cut a rubber/silicone mat to fit the bottom of the keyboard, so that the edges of the key caps hit the rubber/silicone mat instead of the bottom of the keyboard.

For more information on what mechanical keyboard to buy, then check this out, the list is further down:

CoolerMaster's QuickFire series is one of the cheapest mech keyboards you can get, and I personally recommend compact keyboards, because you can have your arms closer to your body if you use a rather large mousepad.

Thanks. That is strange since Halo 4 MCC feels really tight for me.

Please accept Glocksquad's Zowie mouse.

I have the Zowie EC1 eVo CL and I was thinking of ordering the Zowie EC1-A, because it has 3200 DPI which should be enough for XIM4, however, I haven't tried with any Zowie mice before, so I didn't know about this issue.

ObsIV should definitely respond to this, especially when Glocksquad can provide a mouse for him.

Yes but you would need to do it for each game again as sensitivity values between different games dont give the same speed

@ j001j001:
That's why they're suggesting to use a ruler to find your cm/360, so that you can easily convert the same sensitivity to every game. Thankfully we have mouse-sensitivity.com for PC, but unfortunately, ruler is all you have for console.

Ends up with more cables than he would've started with. Hahahaha

No, USB 3.0 cables and ports are back-compatible with USB 2.0 cables and ports.

USB 3.0 is back-compatible with USB 2.0, so yes, it would be fine.

The stream is fine, but I can tell there's shots you shouldn't have hit that you do and shots that you should've hit but don't. What's the bitrate you using?

Yeah, you're lagging hardcore. Look at the others death cam; you're teleporting around on their screen.

It got to be said, you're being too frantic; making your aim shaky and spamming your boosts too often in firefights. However, you do have pretty good aim and your flicks are more often than not, dead-on. So again, there's definitely something fucky with your connection; that's clear as day.

What's your download and upload speed?

And yeah.  I thought about lowering my sensitivity too, but I feel they'd still notice the mouse "behaviours".  I. E.  Non linear patterns, jittery aim,  instant left and right movement, etc.

That's true, but I think I'll be able to emulate a controller with the mouse if need be, such as stop and move frequently towards the target, though acceleration is something that's going tough to use with mouse. Going to wait for H5 to be released before I bother to play around with all of that jazz.
