Game Support / Re: Halo MCC - 11/11/14

Has anyone come up with a half decent curve for any of the MCC games yet? The STs with linear 1:1 are amazing but it is extremely sluggish trying to turn around quickly.

I noticed this too, I am thinking this game could benefit from some good curves. I feel like the linear 1:1 setup doesn't feel very good in these MCC games for some reason.

I will try to mess around with finding a decent curve but I have barely had the time to play MCC lately due to my job.

Game Support / Re: Destiny issue - small issue

First make sure you're using the max in game sensitivity, Destiny's is 10 I believe. See below if you've done that.

Yes, ballistic curves are a great way to add a little bit of acceleration. I like to keep the first half or so of my swipe linear and add acceleration near the end of my swipe. Try this curve out.

Copy the code below to your clipboard then while in your Hip setting's Mouse Advanced menu press the button with a down arrow inside of a box (paste). Save it and give it a try.

Code: [Select]
>>> XIM4 START Paste >>>
X4MB:000A141E28323C46505B6A7A8A9FB3C8C8C8C8C8C8
<<< XIM4 END   Paste <<<

This might be a dumb question, but how do you go back to the regular linear setup with zero curve? I mean, aside from copy pasting it or making it manually. There doesn't seem to be a one click button in the manager to just "remove" a curve, unless I am missing something.

Might as well order one, with any luck Amazon might be able to have it to me the same day my XIM arrives. I'd be splitting it between my PC, 360 and One and then a PS4 in the future.

I paid for overnight, but since FedEx only got the package today, it won't be here until Monday. Just as well, I work Saturday and Sunday but I'm off Monday  ;D

All I can really play with it now is CoD Ghosts and Titanfall anyway, but it'll be nice to have time to play around and get used to the XIM before Destiny comes out, and then Master Chief Collection in November.

I pre-ordered Advanced Warfare too, I wonder if the look mechanics in that game will change when you're in the air doing jumps and stuff with the exo suits? That'd be a real problem for a XIM user.

Back in 2012 I got a recommendation to use this with my xim3
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D1UTC4/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_g1Y2tb1BDV7S6ZEG

Been using it everyday to switch from gaming pc and console for 2 years and its still going strong. Im currently using it with my xim4 and it works perfectly.

This seems like a decent cheap solution, but does it ever seem like it causes any added input lag or anything funky?

General Discussion / Re: Banned on Xbox for "profanity"
« on: 03:28 AM - 04/06/14 »
MS as a company is just enforcing a similar ruleset that I've seen on private servers in PC gaming for a long time now. Don't bother fighting it, just change your attitude about swearing and stuff, it's hard at first, but you quickly realize it is not worth it to struggle against the inevitable.

It's not MS or the Xbox wing of MS that is being problematic, it's merely a growing change in our culture and MS is trying to appeal to people who want a clean experience. Sony has similar rules, but maybe does not actively enforce them as strongly. When I was a bit younger I was a pretty rowdy person online with a dark/offensive sense of humor that was mostly satirical, it used to be people loved this type of humor, now it's been thrown out with yesterday's garbage and you get in trouble for it very easily, even if all you do is drop a few F bombs.

So my advice is just learn to accept the changing social rules, things are a lot easier that way. You can still own people by getting under their skin passively aggressively, anyway. And if all else fails, out scoring them always speaks for itself. Me, personally, I just try to keep quieter in games now and just play.

However, no profane language bothers me, so when I hear other people on a server acting out, I understand them, and I can't imagine how petty someone would need to be to actually REPORT THEM instead of just ignore it, but that's life, those people who report you will always be willing to do so, the only way to avoid it is to give them nothing to report.

Yes. I just close my eyes and go back to sleep when it happens, I usually fall back asleep in a few seconds, guess I have a mild version of it.

It used to scare the crap out of me as a kid until I learned to close my eyes again when it happens.

General Discussion / Re: MS demonstrates Azure tech
« on: 06:40 PM - 04/03/14 »
thats cool and definitely the future, but currently i have a hard time seeing how some rural guy with 1mbits down can make use out of that on the big scale

MS is future proofing. In the not so distant future, there will be no rural people with 1 mbits internet. Why do you think Nadella is focusing heavily on breaking into the Indian and Chinese markets in the coming years? It's kind of like a tech frontier where MS can beat Google to the punch with infrastructure. Further expansion of high speed internet access is covered by Moore's Law and the inevitable economic globalization.

Azure as a technology has limitless potential pretty much and fits perfectly into Nadella's focus on mobile and cloud for MS. It is also allowing MS to heavily push SAAS which is something Google is sorely lacking in. Now, I like both companies, I'm just saying MS is doing the smart thing and moving in directions that Google has been neglecting.

I think Facebook plays a lot into this as well with Zuckerberg's idea of five-year drones providing on the fly (hyuk hyuk) WiFi to remote areas.

Don't have one. I do not think it is the future of gaming by any stretch.

I think VR is the future, but it is a ways off and Oculus is just one offering from one startup (well, former startup).

However, it will be a long time before VR can get rid of these kinks like motion sickness and the false memory crap (people had reported using Oculus with Euro Truck Sim left them struggling with odd ideas that they actually had driven a truck across Germany or something for real, they KNEW they didn't actually do it, but their memory of playing the game felt too real).

Those issues aside, it will need to offer equal to or greater than the current performance of a classic competitive gaming setup, IE high quality monitor with 1ms response (or triple monitor setup) with a good mouse and keyboard. Honestly I think Zucks was onto the right idea of it being more the future of GENERAL entertainment, rather than the future of gaming, VR in general just seems to fit more, in my mind, with mainstream entertainment like movie watching, pornography, etc.

I'd love to try a dev kit though! I also really want some Google Glass experience. If I had the choice I think I'd want Glass right now because I want to be called a Glasshole.

I really just want the PvP to be solid and competitive, otherwise this is just another Borderlands style game to me.

I know that is pessimistic, but hey, I loved Borderlands. I just want more than repetitious PvE and co-op, that can only keep me hooked for like a week at most usually.

I am hopeful for the game though. It looks nice and since it is Bungie I think they know enough about good multiplayer to keep things exciting in Destiny. I do question their lack of a PC version though.

General Discussion / Re: Patrick Warburton

He played The Tick in the very short lived live action version :(

Also I like Steve Blume, that is another iconic deep voice. Like Warburton, you can pick out his voice in any role he does because it is so deep and strong.

Quake Live sounds enticing right now but I have to be at work in about 15 minutes  :'(

General Discussion / Re: advice on next gaming monitor
« on: 04:56 AM - 03/31/14 »
Another vouche for the VG248QE. I got it over a BenQ because I kept reading how bad BenQs are with PC gaming and that they have consoles heavily in mind for most of their products.

Not sure how true that is, but I got the VG248QE when I saw open box versions for sale for 180 bucks on Newegg with a 30 day money back promise. The one I got may as well have literally been brand new, stickers were still on it and I don't think it ever got turned on at all frankly. Best deal I've found in a while.

I don't notice color issues but I think that is probably because I have never gamed no a non-TN panel. All TN panels put out less than ideal colors and viewing angles from what I know, with the tradeoff of superb response time. The VG248QE is one of those monitors that is very close to a CRT monitor in terms of response time.

EIther way I am happy with it and it works amazing for both console and PC gaming. I have not had any issues in any game with spotting enemy players, so I don't know what to say about that, other than everyone has different eyes and reaction times on a personal level. My eyesight outside of about 3 feet is utter crap and I may as well be blind, but I've gamed in front a monitor for a very long portion of my life and my eyes are really well trained to noticing fine details in that environment.

I think even if I had thousands of bucks to blow on a monitor, I'd still go with a TN panel, I really want to have the best response time possible, even though it may not actually matter whether I have 1ms or 5ms. But I do know having the 1ms does not hurt :)
