I am thinking about getting an external SSD drive for my PS4.
Load times are becoming too much and it will help there, and in other areas.

The problem is that the PS4 has two USB inputs in the front.

One is for my Xim Apex/Titan 2 and the other is used by the bluetooth dongle for my steelseries headphones.

Anyway to implement the SSD (externally only) with this setup?

Thank you.

XIM APEX Discussions / Hip versus ADS sensitivity.
« on: 04:44 PM - 05/21/18 »
Are most hip sensitivities a higher value than ADS?

Just a random question/thought that entered my noggin.

Doesn't it assist you in locking in on targets and should be thought of as a good thing?

I know there is the rare occurrence of engaging a combatant and another enemy runs across your field of view, but that is rare.

in Xim Manager or will they stay the same?

I see it referenced occasionally and downloaded the app but I can't figure it out.

General Discussion / When I read about Xim and cheating.
« on: 08:41 AM - 05/03/18 »
It always makes me me smile (and feel a little sad) when I read on reddit and game forums about how we Xim users are using it solely to cheat.

My quick back story.
August 10th, 2015 my left thumb was cut off in a construction accident.
It was reattached but for all intents and purposes it is dead.
There is no feeling, only one small vein gives blood flow, the knuckle does not bend.

It is just...there.

It took me 6 months for the pain in my thumb (where the bone was grafted back together) to recede enough for me to even attempt to pick up controller.

Needless to say, I was unable to play.
I could not use the left stick at all, not at all.

Even after my thumb was healed, I could not use the stick.
My thumb would slip off and I wouldn't even know it, I could not control the pressure or directionality very well.

And I certainly could not depress it to run.

I engineered attempts at work arounds.
My most promising consisted of using a control freak on the left stick with a cloth loop my wife made, hot glued to the stick that I would slide my thumb through.

It worked well in the sense that my thumb didn't slide off the stick but I had almost zero control in any other regards.

You see, to me, video games are fun.  They are about enjoyment and playing, but they are also about the community of friends I have built over the years.

My group is like me, a bit older, married, children.

To us it isn't just about playing a game, it is about socializing.

It would be weird for me to just hangout in a chat party not playing.
A huge part of my social life was going to be gone forever.

My gaming days were over, or so it seemed.
One of my best online friends told me about the Xim 4 and did all the research for me.

I was skeptical but I dived in.

It took me a few weeks to get the Xim 4 dialed in for me.
I found it to be acceptable.

I bought an Orbweaver hand pad which made things better.
For those of you who know of the Orbweaver, on the right side of it is a small joystick and a few buttons, those are inaccessible to me due to my thumb.

That is why I have recently been investigating adding a pedal to my new Xim Apex.
To replace a control that I otherwise would need to use with my thumb.

For the last 2-1/2 years, the Xim has given me something precious in my life that I thought was gone forever, the camaraderie of a small group of friends that I have known for almost a decade.

But as for the cheating.

I can still hit some crispy snipes, even in D2.
But before my injury I was a solid 2.4 k/d player in Trials.

After a couple of years using Xim I am only at around 1.5 k/d.

So, to me, my gameplay took a huge hit, but at least I am playing:)

There are some issues with the Xim that those with controllers have a CLEAR ADVANTAGE at.

If someone is up close to me and we are jumping and shooting at each other, they have a way better ability to jump, look/aim up-down-left-right than I do.

I have to limit my short game as much as possible as I have never found a way to improve on this.

The Xim device is a wonderful tool that has given me back one of the joys in my life, but I promise you that I would rather have my thumb back and a controller.

And thank you for inventing this wonderful device.

XIM Link / Three quick Xim Link questions.
« on: 01:36 PM - 05/01/18 »
I would like to try this with my Apex and PS4.

1.  How many transfer cables do you need...is it just one?

2.  Is there noticeable lag when playing live PVP?

3.  Will this work with an older laptop or do I need something new and super fast?

General Discussion / Fragpedals Dual.
« on: 12:30 PM - 04/20/18 »
So I got the email alert that my fragpedals Dual were delivered, I went home on my lunch break giddy with joy, grabbed them off the stoop, went inside, downloaded the software, programmed them, and plugged them into the Xim Apex.

Powered on my PS4 and am having an odd occurrence.

First, I want to say that I programmed my frag paddles to be the numbers 6,7,8,9 since I never use those buttons.

Secondly, the Apex manager recognized the pedals inputting as number 6,7,8,9.
So that is a good sign.

Here is the odd occurrence.
Once my PS4 was loaded and the pedals connected, it acted as if the right D pad button was being pressed and would scroll all the way to the end of the PlayStationĎs menu.

I would physically push down on the left D pad button and it would scroll all the way back left but as soon as I let go of the button it scrolls all the way back to the right.

I performed some rudimentary troubleshooting, unplugging the left pedal and I got the same result, unplugging the right pedal and I got the same result.
Going into the manager and deleting the buttons that were assigned to the pedals with the same result.
Unplugging the petals altogether and it went away.

I am thinking that itís not so much in Apex problem as it is some hardware conflict with the PlayStation itself.
But I donít have enough technical knowledge to base that on anything.

So when I get home tonight Iím going to try it out in a game to see if it affects the play at all.

If this works, here is a small video of what happens at the PS4 menu screen.

I have been using the Orbweaver fore 3 years but wanted more flexibility.
I bought the K95 keyboard which helps a lot since I am now trying to get into Rainbow 6 and there are a lot more controls with the 2 leans, 2 gadgets, drones etc.

It is going to take awhile getting muscle memory down.

My question is this.
The K95 has 2 USB cables coming out of it, one is a keyboard cable and the other is a pass through(?) cable.

Is it possible to plug that into foor pedals and daisy chain them to work with the Xim Apex?

I noticed that the pedals have a USB plug as well but it's the same end as the keyboard.

Thank you.

I'm no clip editor.
