I tried this on PS3 with a dead zone of 5571. I was pretty happy with the results.

At first, I had a dead zone of 3800, which was left over from the beta. This felt "floaty" or "laggy" and the difference in dead zone seems to make sense. I can run the dead zoner app later to verify that the PS3 really is the same.

It looks like Sony has partnered up with HORI to sell a keyboard/mouse controller for the PS3. Here's a link with more info: http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/3312/article/sony-announces-mouse-and-keyboard-controller-for-ps3/

This is already on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HO2Q9W/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gamepur-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B005HO2Q9W

I'm still holding out hope that there will be some sort of official PS3 support on XIM3. The USB report information is already partly implemented to support the Navigation Controller, so it's not a huge leap to communicate directly with the PS3. I totally understand a business decision to decline PS3 support in favor of  maintaining strong support of the primary platform. However, from a user's perspective, sometimes it feels like we get Air Mouse experimentation and a Bodycount translator instead of PS3 support.

edit: Whoops, I just saw the same post from yesterday: http://www.xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=16546.0

I remember the old days of having to tap the button on and off to go around a corner in GT1. Got a wheel with a analog peddle and it was heaven.

I wonder why the analog trigger is not working. Is it a XIM issue or is there something else at play hear?

Even the DualShock 2 had this capability. For example, in GT4, if you lightly pressed the square button, your car would only brake a little bit.

For the XIM3, I'm guessing it just needs to read out the pressure data from the trigger and send it along to the XBox. The button state (on/off) is stored separated from the pressure state (0-255), so it might be a bug that could be fixed. I don't have a Navigation Controller so I can't test it and say for sure.

Actually, every button on the PS3 controller (except for start, select, and PS) has a pressure state ranging from 0-255.

I see what you mean. That struct would need something like a bit mask to specifically tell the XIM3 which values to update and which ones to leave alone. There are some cases where this would be useful, but I guess that would be off topic.

The basic functionality of your app seems to work pretty well. It might be useful to save your progress though. Great job!

Yup. It's a limitation of the API. Sorry :(.

Could you elaborate a bit on that? I took a look at the header and the XIMCommander.cpp file, so my best guess is that when you call XIMSendInput with a XIMControllerInput struct, the XIM3 will ignore the attached controller.

When I'm connected to the XIM 3, the wired controller input is disabled. Is this expected behavior? I have to hit disconnect every time I need to move my guy around in Bad Company 2 on PS3.

There's a configuration switcher you can use to load another configuration on the fly. Check this out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfLqTraq47g&feature=player_embedded#!
