Welcome to the community. Unfortunately XIM4 and XIM APEX only support controllers made from the console makers, third party controllers aren't supported. A Microsoft Xbox One or Xbox XS controller will be needed.

Could you share the error message? Does your XIM4 work in a game without using Manager?

A factory reset can be done using a firmware flash tool but this may not be needed. If it's something you would like to do anyway there are instructions are on the flash tool download page.

The cursor or screen will continue to move as long as turn assist is active. Once it's deactivated then movement stops and it sounds like this is when the game returns to center.

APEX supports most peripherals that do not require special drivers or software. Hopefully someone with the device can comment on it's status as well.

Testing other data cables with the controller and connecting the controller directly to the console while XIM and hub are disconnected are good places to start. If on Xbox remove the controller battery instead, this reduces power draw and helps with stability.

Could you please share your setup so we can learn more about the issue? Please include both the brand and model.

Yeah, strange behavior but it's not unexpected when using an unsupported platform. I recommend testing your setup on an Xbox One or XS to verify your APEX and controller are working correctly on a supported platform. Otherwise, this kind of problem has been reported from PC players using XS controllers, using an Xbox One controller that has a micro USB port might help.

Welcome to the community. It's normal to see light changes when aiming down sight, you will see the color of active page in your config flash. This is green when going into ADS then yellow when returning to Hip, then the color of your config which is red by default.

It may help to move your mouse and keyboard cable positions at the hub.

Do you see the keypresses shown in Manager's HUD window as you press the keys?

Also, could you share which keyboard model you're using?

It may make aiming feel a little more weighted but Off sync is more than likely going to have some amount of inherit jitter. Instead of smoothing you could try Off sync while using APEX with a lower response rate. Otherwise you will need to decide whether a small amount of smoothing feels better to you personally than using another sync.
