I feel like Legacy is still the goat. The AA is too nice.

XIM APEX Discussions / Re: Best Analog for Xim Apex?

does the n52te have an analog stick? Or do you need to mod it
Anyone who can comment on that? About to pick one up
The n52te has a d-pad ... so no analog.
Years ago a few forum members modded it and put a stick in, there was a tutorial from roads about taking the left stick out of the xbox controller and putting it into the n52te. Nowadays an analog stick connected to teensy would be used instead. It's fairly straightforward to take the d-pad out of the n52te.
Edit: forgot to say that it's a modded N52te in the picture next to my name ... the little round coloured button switches are the d-pad wires connected up after taking the d-pad out to put the xbox stick in.

I currently have an n52te I was looking to mod with an analog stick. is it easy for a beginner to do?

It's years since I did it by following the tutorial by forum member roads but the pictures have all now gone from that tutorial, and as I said it was a guide for unsoldering the left stick from the xbox verification controller and putting it into the n52te after taking the d-pad out.
Things have progressed a long way since then and now the teensy is used for the stick. If you know what you are doing with teensy ( I don't), and you are able to do a bit of soldering it should be fairly easy.
It was the first time I had soldered when I did it and I found it ok to do.
The n52te comes apart easily and the d-pad and buttons are connected by a ribbon cable (which you can either just cut, or wire up to something like footpedals)
When I did it all the membrane switches were replaced with cherries, but if you don't do that it will just be a case of taking the d-pad out and putting a stick in with teensy.

I was going to add a link to the other tutorial by W11ce but I noticed that you had seen it .... that one is too complicated for me lol

I appreciate the in-depth reply man.

So if I just want to do it without the teensy it's as simple as just soldering out the xbox analog and transferring it to the n52te board? I remember seeing posts that the xbox controller had to stay connected or something?

The Nav feels so much more natural than a kb. Let me know if you need any help with your keybinds for fortnite.

Sorry pics are lost get an Azeron.

I'm mainly interested in the N52te, especially after seeing how much work you guys put into it. I'd just really appreciate a little help.

If need be I don't mind paying someone for their time to help guide me through it really quick.

Hey, the pics dont work anymore. Ive freshly aquired a n52te and been looking forward to mod an analog stick to it.

Can you update the image links?

It'd be awesome if you could update the image links. I've got an N52te a couple weeks ago and have been looking for exactly this.

Oh, I had to edit the files and it took some time to get the new 3d printed parts. So when I got those, ended up not writing a continuation. I will post the 3d model files at one point when I find all.

That'd be great, we'd really appreciate it.

(Mainly the joystick mod! :) )

XIM APEX Discussions / Re: Sony Nav Alternatives

I think the ergonomics / grip together with button layout is going to a tough challenge to get right. I put an extra button on a NAV, so using pinky and ring finger to grip, leaving middle finger for extra button(s), forefinger for trigger/jump buttons and thumb for analogue stick. Problem I found with this on the current NAV is the trigger/jump buttons need to be smaller (and trigger to not have such a large deadzone/travel time) for it to be comfortable and viable - hand size likely plays a role in this too.
For trigger deadzone, I opened up my nav and added a small folded up piece of paper behind the trigger to reduce the deadzone. It worked very well, but eventually I just got so tired of holding that controller and wanted more buttons.

You listed the biggest issue with my design plan - hand size. It is impossible to produce something that works for everyone in terms of hand size. I happen to be freakishly tall, and with that, have freakishly large hands. Like can palm basketballs out of a dribble with ease large hands. I want a controller that is comfortable for myself, but also for other people, which is a challenge.

Hate to bump, but I think a lot of people may be interested in this.

Do you have any plans on still going through with it?

Hi i was wondering how the teensy board worked out, and if you are going to post the files for it?

Also curious about this. I just picked up an N52te and would love to add an analog stick in place of the current dpad.

I'd be interested in this as well!  :)

This is exactly what I've been looking for the past couple months.

I've been looking for a way to do it without using XIM link but I haven't found anything. The G502 doesn't allow you to store scripts (like this) onto on-board memory.

I'm really interested to see if anyone has a solution to this.

Bind edit to the Left Stick and turn on Sprint by Default in the settings.

10/10 would recommend
