How’s the Hifiman in comparison of the two as far as bass etc? I have the DTX9000 and the HD560s and I know for me I preferred the HD560s more because it was more sound pleasing as for more bass in my ear. Certain games like PUBG I preferred the DTX9000s. Side note I am looking at the new LG OLED monitor just announced with optical out build in with 2.1 hdmi. It seems as it would be nice to clean up the setup and eliminate the need for the audio extractors.
HIFIMAN Sundara is in another league, step up definitely. Maintains neutrality (appreciate distinctively all the frequency range like DT900X HD560s) while still being very engaging and fun. Lows and Bass is present, dense than the others and can go very low, giving an immersive feeling on those campaign games. Its soundstage is wider than HD560S but without loosing the proximity perception of the midrange (footsteps) like on the previous example. So you get great surround awareness and can figure precisely how close enemies are around you. Highs are buttery smooth, never feel any edginess or harsh, while still providing detail and an open presentation.
However, these headphones needs a power amp. That's a very common trait on planar headphones. Planar headphones use a different technology than the ordinary headphone or headset with is a dynamic driver (small speaker kind of), planars are a sandwich of magnets and a flexible material between them that produces the sound waves. In general, planars deliver a more detail medium and high end than dynamics, and its physical configuration can reproduce very low sub bass, that is perceive for your skin and reverberates your skull, but they need power.
An example of this sensation is on the song: Why so serious? from The Dark Knight Soundtrack. minute 3:26

On a bad sub bass audio equipment, you don't hear a thing. On a proper one... your skull will shake... you will feel a sensation on your scalp, like your hair is lifting, without hearing a loud sound.
This frequencies, are used in many games because triggers sensations on our brain without blasting the heck of our ears. Terror games, suspense, etc.
Sundara's are great headphone amazing one for gaming and a great headphone to introduce you to the audiophile hobby and of course enjoy music and movies.
Headphones like HD560S, DT900 X, AKG K702, DT1990P, are reference studio headphones... tools to master and produce music, flat neutral... boring. Hifiman Sundara's, Sennheiser HD600 / HD650, Audeze LCD2, etc a headphones to enjoy sound.
On LG OLED Monitor, as a owner of one I can tell you is a great amazing beautiful canvas to appreciate your games, very fast great for FPS games... the only caveat, is an OLED screen, meaning... it needs to be handle with care.
First: it can get burn... if you have a very bright setting and a high contrast static overlay, like a mini map, health bar, etc on your game that image can get stuck print on the screen, so you have to avoid those scenarios.
Second, OLED screen projects heat that can dry your eyes if is very close to you, if you have a dry eye condition this can damage your eye sight.
Third. While its blacks are real and deep, this might be a disadvantage on games when enemies can hide with dark places.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE to play on my OLED screen for cinematic single player campaings in my sofa with a surround system, HDR performance is AMAZING but for FPS long gaming sessions I do prefer a nice and cold IPS screen.
i own the q701s/sundaras and the 900x's and i feel the 900x's are unmatched in fps games.. but now i wanna try out my sundaras again since i havent really used them much lately lol.. i have a schitt stack so dunno if that matters
