PlayStation / Upgrading PS4 & Sound Whoring

Morning guys and girls,

I posted this also in the German area but would of course like to hear your opinion on that topic.

Currently I am playing with the Day 1 version of the PS4 and would like to know if it's worth upgrading the PS4 by adding an SSD or by buying the PRO? I just want to achieve the best possible experience in terms of performance and gameplay especially from a shooter perspective. Would love to hear your thoughts as today the deals are incoming.


The 2nd point is more in regards to an old topic. Is sound whoring still a thing? I am owning a X7 from SoundBlaster and tried out the old settings provided by the forum. It is not feeling right with new titles like Black Ops 4 and so I am wondering if there are new ways for sound whoring.

Moin zusammen,

hab mal eine generelle Frage, da ja heute die passenden Angebote im Netz kursieren.

Lohnt es sich eine Standard PS4 (von Tag 1) in irgendeiner Form zu upgraden? Mit einer 1 TB SSD oder vllt. durch die Pro? Mir geht es nicht um das Geld, sondern um die best mögliche Erfahrung / Performance. Derzeit wird BO4 MP und Blackout gespielt.

Des Weiteren will ich nicht ein extra Thread für den 2ten Punkt aufmachen. Ich habe die Soundblaster X7 + Sennheister Headset und ModMic. Ist Sound Whoring bei den aktuellen Titeln immer noch möglich? Hab eine alte Config probiert und war nicht wirklich überzeugt.

Let me hijack this thread for some questions. I'm returning to Fortnite now on my X. Last time I played is some months ago. I remember that I was struggling with the building (most likely the switch between the types) and the edit mode. Could you kindly post me your button layout, possible with a explanation?

I played Fortnite before BR on PC and the building mode felt much better.

Od1n wie sehen deine restlichen Settings aus?

Hab verschiedene ausprobiert und bin nie richtig zufrieden gewesen. Viele im blurbusters Forum sagen ja, das man Gamma auf max. 40 haben sollte und RGB alles auf 100 etc. etc.

Die USB Soundkarte ist bei vielen kabelgebundenen Headsets bereits dabei und wird sonst benötigt, um die Klinkenanschlüsse von einem normalen Headset mit der PS4 zu verbinden. Die Klinkenanschlüsse gibt es nicht bei der PS4. Die Signale werden also über die USB Soundkarte über den USB Port an die PS4 übertragen (umständlich geschrieben).

Viele hier im Forum nutzen andere Arten von Headsets (keine Gamingheadsets), die von sich aus kein Mirkofon mitbringen. Man braucht also zusätzlich ein Mikrofon, das irgendwie an die PS4 angeschlossen werden muss. Das geschieht dann über so eine USB Soundkarte.

Da dein Headset ein Mikrofon hat, kannst du die USB Soundkarte weglassen und den Empfänger deines Headsets in den USB Port stecken.

Falls du dich fragst warum.. die Soundqualität von Gamingheadsets ist im Vergleich zu guten "normalen" Headsets einfach schlecht. Ich z.B. habe mir gerade auf Empfehlung von Herrn genit das Sennheiser HD 598 in Verbindung mit dem X7 von creative geholt.

Wenn man noch seinen USB Ventilator / Tassenwärmer / Handy und die voll beleuchtete Tastatur anschließen will, da sollte er sich eins bestellen.

Ansonsten reichen fürs normale zocken die 2 Ports aus und ich glaube das ist am Ende auch das, was er wissen will.

Ein Hub ist ein nice to have aber kein must have.

Zum Thema High Power.

Ich benutze das Blackwidow Keyboard von Razer, was zusätzlich noch einen kleinen intigrierten 1 Port Hub hat. Dazu kam noch die extreme Beleuchtung. Dies war auch ein Problem, da die Tastatur einfach zu viel Strom gezogen hat.

Ich empfehle dir auf jeden Fall eine andere Tastatur oder das Licht zu dimmen, falls das möglich ist. Bei mir lief sie danach ohne Probleme.

Übrigens brauchst du kein zusätzliches Hub.

1 USB Port von PS4: PS4 < XIM > Controller / Maus & Tastatur
2 USB Port von PS4: USB Soundkarte für Mikrofon (Sprachchat) / jedes andere Gaming Headset

Just wondering when I read from Xim'ers with 100+ gameplays... When I try to rush in most of the lobby's I get f'ed from some stupid spawn right behind me or so...

Maybe I just played not long enough to know the spawns but its pretty hard to go for my first nuclear or 70+ kills...

Any tips?

Just saw a Xim'ers vid on youtube. 3 nuclears in one match. I mean yeah it was more like spawn camping with many HATR's for a long time but after all that was pretty solid. It can't be just the perfect lobby or am I wrong?

Short answer: Yup

Long answer: The SE's are just black and has more extra cables included (see description of amazon). In Germany the SE's are 80€ more expensive compared to the others... I ordered the "normal" ones a week ago.
