Post by: DrejzLV on 02:43 PM - 11/07/21

Sorry to hear that. We've been hit with the same global supply issues in the same way as many other companies (which is the reason you can't find an Xbox Series X or PS5). We don't have any plans for a future batch at this time.

Thanks OBsIV for explaining! Fingers crossed it will get sorted 👍

Is it changing the 2021 release date for the nexus?
Also can I use the Nexus in place of the Apex?

NEXUS is a motion controller. APEX is a mouse & keyboard adapter. They're different products with no cross-over between them, except that they both support the same games.

Ok thank you. I was really hoping it would would have that  functionality built in since it’s like an apex with a gyroscope built in. Maybe it would add too much ms delay or something with extra code built on top of it or something.

NEXUS is a controller, like an Xbox controller. It has nothing to do with APEX.

Wait. No plans for a future batch? Even when things straighten out a bit? This is terrible news.

We didn't say that. When things finally ease up (which may take awhile given the signs right now), we will look at the gaming landscape and see if console mouse adapters continue to make sense. If they do, we will produce more.

Ahhh thanks. Pardon I misread that. Well I'm on the waitlist, I have one but I want another. So count me in for an order if you do. Right now there are just a few used ones on ebay and all over $200. Everywhere is OOS.

OBsIV, just so you know - I've been running a wait list for XIM APEX units since we sold out in September. That list of customers wanting a XIM APEX is into the hundreds after two months.

Australia is a small market, about the size of one big US city and there's no way everyone who wants an APEX is adding themselves to my wait list. I imagine the demand is still in the thousands of units per month globally for APEX.

If we can work out a PS5 solution, demand is going to more than double for APEX. Toss the upcoming PC Smart Translators into the mix and it triples at least.

The problem is that if a new batch were to happen right now, it would probably have to cost much more than 99$ the unit. Some suppliers ask double if not triple the price they did prior to the shortages. I wouldnt be surprised if Apex has to cost 150$ onwards to not be sold at a loss.

Still a better deal than eBay right now ofc.

That's fine with me. I see XIM as an honorable company that will charge a fair price based upon the situation they have to deal with. I think a lot of people would be fine with paying $150 if that was what XIM deemed a fair price, and not by someone on eBay trying to make a bunch of money based on scarcity.

We are watching how this is being handled. Some companies are raising their prices to compensate. Others are keeping their prices as is and must be eating the cost. We aren't sure what we are going to do with our upcoming XIM NEXUS release.

Those companies probably had existing contracts with the oversea suppliers.

If they did not, and going forward bringing a new product to market, the price will reflect the increase in cost until the supply chain issues settle and the major semiconductor manufacturers (INTEL, Samsung, TI, QUALCOM & TSM) are operating at full production capability

Of course, if China goes into Taiwan, we can all kiss that statement 'goodbye.'

Unfortunately, one downside is when companies see what they 'can' potentially charge for a product, those prices typically stay even after the cost associated with manufacturing that product decrease. (ie any Apple iPhone newer than iPhone 8)

The winners are usually smaller tech companies, like XIM Tech, that are able to ride out the storm without sucking the life out of their customers, but it is also a difficult road to navigate without a product to help generate revenue.

It sucks right now, I know. I am an engineer at Fortune 500 energy company and the supply chain has literally come to a halt.

It's pretty simple, there's a new controller coming out, and that controller needs a solid market at launch. There's no better way to create that, than starving the market of alternatives, prior to the release.

I'm sure I'll get hated on for saying this, but shortly after the Nexus is on the market and sold out, I guarantee the good old XIM Apex will miraculously appear back on virtual shelves.

That's not true. Components for XIM APEX are simply not being made due to the semiconductor and silicon shortages. Some of them have over a year-long week wait! Blame COVID, not artificially-inflated demand for NEXUS.

Those of us with a vested interest in APEX are suffering financially while waiting for NEXUS to drop, most of all XIM Tech itself. If APEX could be made right now, it would be made.

I do hope you're correct as I'd like to believe that. I'm also not a technological expert, but for that to be true, than I can safely assume that there's no semiconductors or silicone used in the new shipment of controllers?

The first batch or two of NEXUS units have been secured well in advance. Components are different, so there isn't so much of an issue to source parts.

It's still a big problem as the little guys get bumped to the end of the queue, but even Sony has announced production cuts for PS5 because of the shortages.

Is there any way to see our place in the waiting list or will it be an announcement and then it's first come / first serve? I have had all other version of the XIM including the original controller with USB (back in 2007/2008) and missed my chance for the Apex. Sad times.

We still don't know how XIM NEXUS will be distributed. It may not be sold direct from the XIM website. Hopefully we'll know more this month regarding pricing and availability.

with the release and 'success' of beloader with dual sense games interest should be up
it is for mei have a ps5 i managed to score in late summer, that is still in the box in closet because shortly after getting it the dualsense restriction for bf2042 was found out and put the kibosh on my plans for it.
now with beloader hope lives again but no apex's so i'm on the waitlist as well
