Title: Comprehensive guide for your Mouse and XIM APEX settings!
Post by: Enrix on 05:05 PM - 06/01/18
-INTRODUCTION-
Greetings, XIM Community,
I just wanted to make a guide to help anyone that doesn't know which mouse or XIM settings to use.
Hopefully this will help you to either find your perfect config or at least make you feel comfortable.
This guide will cover some basic topics as well as some "golden rules" of gaming or things that you should know.

First of all, one thing you should always keep in mind is: your XIM is NOT a PC.
Don't look at some of the pro player's settings on PC (like DPI for example) because the XIM does not work like that.

Another very important thing is: every player is UNIQUE.
This means that some settings may be fine for one player, but totally wrong for another.
Don't assume that your settings are wrong just because they are different from the settings of another player (or from this guide!!)
If your config does not give you any problems, stick to it!

Also, in this guide I will skip some basic explanations.
For example, I won't explain what DPI is, I'll just suggest you what to use and why (otherwise it would be too long!).
I want this guide to be relatively quick to read.
So, let's get started!

-DPI-
You should use at least 3000 DPI to guarantee the best mouse movements with your XIM.
Also you should not use more than 4000 DPI (or at least not always), because the quality of your movements will not improve.
Using a very high DPI doesn't work very well with soft mouse pads, as it increases the resolution with which your mouse is scanning the surface, and it could cause issues.
You may also notice Jitter.
Why did I say not always? Because increasing DPI decreases your Aim Assist by a little bit, if you wish to do so.
So you may increase your DPI a little bit and it could help to decrease the Aim Assist!

-SYNCHRONIZATION-
Sync OFF is not really recommended, but it decreases your Aim Assist a little bit, the same way as high DPI.
It will make your mouse movements a little bit choppy, even if it's hardly noticeable in some cases.

Sync Default will not change your aim assist, and it also has the same behavior of XIM 4.
Choose this one if you're just not sure of what to use!

Sync Common is the way to go for 60 FPS games, and it's the best setting (talking about mouse movement quality).
It also increases Aim Assist a little bit.

Sync Slow is intended for games with 30 FPS.
Not really recommended unless it's really the case to use this one.

-POLLING RATE-
It's recommended to not go below 500 HZ, so that should be the value you should consider by default.
Using 1000 HZ could help to decrease Aim Assist a little bit (the same way as DPI and Sync!), but make sure that your mouse can keep up with 1000 HZ.
I'd say go for 1000 HZ if you can, but that's just my opinion.
Search for Zowie Mouse Rate Checker  to test your mouse polling rate. Use Chrome for this test!

-SENSITIVITY-
Sensitivity is something personal.
You should not copy other player's sensitivities just because they perform well.
There are many guides on YouTube on how to find the right sensitivity for you.

-SMOOTHING-
Smoothing is meant to reduce mouse jitter or stutter.
It's recommended to not go over 10 smoothing as your mouse movement quality will decrease.
Only use smoothing if you need to!
Increasing smoothing could also increase your Aim Assist a little bit.

-BALLISTIC CURVE-
A Ballistic Curve is used to reintroduce mouse acceleration in certain mouse speed areas.
I'd say don't use one unless you know what you're doing or what you're searching for :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End of my quick guide.
If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I'll tell you what I know!
Also let me know if you think that I have missed some important topic in this guide, so I can improve it.

Before leaving, I want to give you guys a suggestion:
I already said that every player is unique.
Every player also has good and bad days (talking about performance).
In your bad days, don't blame your setup and don't try to change it.
Always try to make changes to your config if you are feeling well, and don't lose your mind over it!
What I am trying to say is, sometimes if you're missing your shots it's not because your DPI is wrong, your sensitivity is too slow or any other setting is wrong :)

Thanks for reading,
Good luck and have fun!

Special thanks to the YT Channel XIMGameplay.

Hello I am new with the Apex ,
I read another post  : https://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=64019.0
It says that we must put the max on DPI setting and the polling rate to 1000HZ .
For my case I only play Fortnite , for a new user , that did not play since a long time on PC , what would it be the most handy , because I don't get the aim assist thing and how to manage it , how it work with the DPI or the polling rate?

Nice guide but I thibk it's more or a "your preference" rather than a standard setrings guide for everyone

Most of them are not based on personal preference, and I gave a few reasons why.
Of course everyone could use their personal settings, like I said, there are no "standard settings for everyone" :)
This guide is made for the players that have no idea of what settings to use or just want to have some "reliable" settings.

Awesome, great job :).

About the DPI though... is not like you shouldn't use more than 4000, 3000 to 4000 is a nice range for XIM but, in order to lower some  strong AA high DPI up to 12000 is advisable and having a lower delta is great, recommended from the get go by XIM devs, but be sure you mouse can handle. Most PMW336X can do it.

Anyway, great guide man, short yet rich and concise.

perfect for new comers to the Xim world. I had my cousins buy some and for whatever reason I didnít think theyíd have 900 questions lol.  This guide would surely be perfect for them.

Also, at one point I was running 12k dpi 1000hz mouse + xim. And sync OFF.
The aim assist on fortnite was STILL too strong for me.
Iím seriously thinking of just disabling it lol. But Iíve since moved to 500hz across and 3000k dpi. Feels good for hip, and long range but ADS medium close range is almost impossible with AA enabled.

I have the same feeling for the ADS to medium range. How do you manage to avoids the sticky AA thats seems heavy?

Wow yeah, Fortnite has a strong aim assist, but apparently you really don't like it xD
With those settings aim assist should be minimum.
Be careful if you consider disabling it, for some weapons aim assist it's almost a must have on console (yes, I am looking at you, shotguns).

Try a combination of settings as shown in the guide :)
For example I use 1000 HZ (my mouse can handle it) and 4800 DPI for now. Aim assist seems fine, but of course it's personal.
If AA is THAT bad consider using a curve.

In Fortnite I would prefer to have aim assist at range and then minimal aim assist in CQ-fights like shotguns etc. Is this when i should use a curve?

Curves can have many purposes, and yeah I think it could do what you want.
I just can't make curves so I can't help you :(
Try asking for one.

Well youíre doing the exact opposite of what the people who created the XIM say to do. Itís not like PC they say to use the highest possible to get 1:1 best feel. So thatís sort of personal preference.
