Title: System requirements and supported cables
Post by: W11cE on 11:05 AM - 03/26/18
System Requirements
The minimum system requirements are:
 - Windows 7 SP1 32-bit
 - CPU with 2 logical cores, 1.8GHz
 - 1Gb RAM
 - 15Mb free storage

The recommended system requirements are:
 - Windows 10 64-bit
 - CPU with 4 logical cores, 2.66GHz
 - 4Gb RAM
 - 50Mb free storage

OS Versions
The supported OS version are:
 - Windows 7 (must have SP1 installed)
 - Windows 8.1 (windows 8 is not supported)
 - Windows 10 (must have "Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607" installed)

Prerequisities
You must install these first:
 - .NET Framework 4.7.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56115
 - Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 both 64 and 32 bit: https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/

Supported Cables
Right now the only supported easy transfer cables are:

 - Belkin win 7 version "F5U279"
 - Belkin win 8 version "F4U060", may also be called as "F4U060CW"
 - Pluggable Transfer Cable "USB-EASY-TRAN"

In addition there are cables that are not officially supported, but there are users that have reported these to work:

 - Belkin win vista version "F5U258"

These all will work on all Win 7, 8.1 and 10 regardless of the naming.

Any other cables that are not on this list will NOT WORK !!!

Also do not even try the regular usb cables that have male type-A connector on both ends. Those are not even intended to be used for something like this and might damage your XIM and / or PC.

What exactly does the CW mean? I'm pretty sure the cable I have is labeled as just F4U060.

They are the same item, they will work both, don't know why it's named like that.

Series: F4U060
Model: F4U060cw

I don't think so, cause he clearly stated that other cables will not work except the ones that are in the list. But I don't know, I'm maybe wrong.

I couldn't find the Pluggable Transfer Cable "USB-EASY-TRAN" , only thing I found on amazon is Plugable Windows Transfer Cable for Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP.
are they the same model ?

Welcome to the community. Yes, that looks like the same one. One the box picture you see it says for the chipset: Prolific PL-25A1. Which is pretty interesting because 25A1 is actually the USB Product ID number that it declares when asked for it's USB descriptor (which you typically don't see outside of the descriptor).

any Belkin Easy Transfer Cable will do, eg the Windows 7 or Windows 8 one
there isnt a best one as they all work the same, just go with the cheapest you can find in brand new condition on ebay (usually 2-10$)

I couldn't find any at retail stores and I checked all the one you listed. Of the reliable websites, Ebay was the cheapest at $9.99 with free shipping. Amazon has them for like $23.99.

Belkin model# F5U258 does work with XIm Link. Was just using it yesterday. When I was using it with my Xim 4 few years ago, I thought it was broken and shelved it away. Since I just got Apex last week , I decided to try it if it still works  - and it does.

Hi guys,

will other cables be supported in the near future?
I am from Germany and can't find any Belkin cable over here, the only way would be
to get it from UK or USA, but the shipping costs at Amazon are actually as high as the cable itself :/

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands and the listed cables (Both Belkins and Plugable Easy Transfer Cable) are not in any shop over here... On Amazon there are a lot who not ships to the Netherlands.

So I'm asking will this cable work:

https://www.bol.com/nl/p/bandridge-usb-datalink-kabel-grijs-2-5-meter/9200000018979873/?Referrer=ADVNLGOO002013-G-49170245955-S-384544190310-9200000018979873&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrvaYvJ2b2wIVx5TVCh3Qugh4EAQYAiABEgKJpfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Or maybe this one:
https://www.megekko.nl/product/0/992553/StarTech-com-USB-Easy-Transfer-Kabel-voor-Windows-8-Upgrade?r=googleshopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1q6otp-b2wIVFN0bCh0oPwr_EAQYBSABEgK80PD_BwE

Or... Last:
https://www.allekabels.nl/usb-adapter-omvormer/177/1097811/usb-20-data-link-easy-transfer-kabel.html

Love to hear it so I can use XIM LINK with my Apex! :D

I added now also system requirements. The minimum requirements are based on testing on Chromebox with a CPU like that. I would not go lower than that.

I just registered to post so I could also vouch for this for anyone else wondering. I was worried about the older Vista F5U258 cable working, and it was the only cable I could get hold of in my area. I took a risk based on this post and it works no problems, I'm using it on Windows 10. Thanks a bunch lunchalot!

Shopping for cables  and I see two versions of the Plugable "easy-tran" cable on amazon. One is USB 2, one is USB 3, does it matter? price difference is 2x

USB 2 : https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Windows-Transfer-Computer-Software/dp/B005OTPVMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536069829&sr=8-1&keywords=Pluggable+Transfer+Cable+%22USB-EASY-TRAN%22

So does the win vista version of belkin cable work or is it just some poeple that have said it works ??

I have the f5u279. cant seem to get it working on my pc, running windows 10. idk if its because all my ports are 3.0(i think) or 3.1?  xim doesn't recognize that anything but the controller is connected and movement or keystrokes aren't registered. it also says the cable is not detected or something similar.

I've had the same issue with the same cable, what resolved it was pretty simple - try the other end of the cable instead.
If that doesn't work, then I don't know what will.

I have a question please...

Q: My computer runs ďWindows 64BitĒ, I seen on the Belkin support website that this transfer cable will not work with 64Bit to 64Bit, will this be a problem for me?

Man this is really frustrating. I can't find compatible cables anywhere online (I'm from Europe). The one from Plugable on Amazon will be in stock in 11 days so that's probably my best bet because buying it from eBay from the United States and paying 30 euros for delivery - no thanks. Guess I'm gonna have to wait.

Hi,

Is it possible to add more compatible cables ?

In europe, we can find the Plugable 3.0 transfer cable "USB3-TRAN". Is it possible to add the compatibility with it ?

The Belkin cables are outaded and discontinued since a long time, It's very frustrating.

What is the information you need about the cable to add the compatibility ?

Ty ;)

I will buy one and see if it works. If it does not work, there is nothing I can do since Apex needs to support the cable too. Not just PC side.

I found a cable that works, buried in my cables collection.

Its called a USB Link Adapter  spelt just like that, no company name made in China code on side reads K12-00059674 i seem to remember buying it about 9 years ago to transfer some files from 1 laptop to another in a bargin bucket for £1.00.

Been playing now for around 8 hrs on new release 1.4.1 no problems so far.

I tried to figure out which cables may work. All recomended Belkin models uses same chip.
With same chip and it's variations we can find many other transfer cables, such as:

https://www.ghisler.com/cables/

And their rebranded copies with different names

All of them is out of date, same as Belkin.

I found rebranded cable, a copy of this http://www.speeddragon.com/index.php?controller=Default&action=ProductInfo&Id=154

Same chip (Prolific PL25-A1), same form-factor, but different label.

Looks like we can use any old cables that support WinUsb API.(Where we are not forced to use third-party applications to make it work). But the problem is still the same, they are hard to find.

I will let you know guys if the cable work or not.

Yes, if it uses the winusb drivers by default, it should work. I can install winusb drivers on any device, but the data format might not work the same way. And even if it would work on PC side, Apex would not recognize it anyway.

Bought a pile of different cables from ebay with around 150e. Lets see if any of those will work at all when those arrive.

when I connect Xim apex, it shows CONNECTED, after few seconds  it shows NOT CONNECTED

xim link  ver. 1.4

should I get Belkin cable ?

any ideas ?

System Requirements
The minimum system requirements are:
 - Windows 7 SP1 32-bit
 - CPU with 2 logical cores, 1.8GHz
 - 1Gb RAM
 - 15Mb free storage

The recommended system requirements are:
 - Windows 10 64-bit
 - CPU with 4 logical cores, 2.66GHz
 - 4Gb RAM
 - 50Mb free storage

OS Versions
The supported OS version are:
 - Windows 7 (must have SP1 installed)
 - Windows 8.1 (windows 8 is not supported)
 - Windows 10 (must have "Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607" installed)

Prerequisities
You must install these first:
 - .NET Framework 4.7.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56115
 - Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 both 64 and 32 bit: https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/

Supported Cables
Right now the only supported easy transfer cables are:

 - Belkin win 7 version "F5U279"
 - Belkin win 8 version "F4U060", may also be called as "F4U060CW"
 - Pluggable Transfer Cable "USB-EASY-TRAN"

In addition there are cables that are not officially supported, but there are users that have reported these to work:

 - Belkin win vista version "F5U258"

These all will work on all Win 7, 8.1 and 10 regardless of the naming.

Any other cables that are not on this list will NOT WORK !!!

Also do not even try the regular usb cables that have male type-A connector on both ends. Those are not even intended to be used for something like this and might damage your XIM and / or PC.

Your link for Visual Studio opens up link for Visual Studio 2019. It has no option to install both 64 bit &  32 bit.

What should I do ???!!!   If u find older 2017 version  there is no 32 bit  version on link provided

Also   Windows 10 (must have "Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607" installed)  ?? I installed Windows 10 in 2019.  Why do I need older version of Windows 10 ??

Pls advise

Thanks

Hi all!

I'm new here, though i've bought xim apex a month ago and it was worth the money.
I found out you can use macro through pc/laptop with xim link software but you need an data transfer cable preferable the Belkin ones.
I live in belgium, but those cables are either way overpriced on ebay or can't find them in any stores.
Anyone know if there is any other cheap cable that would work? Anything i should check, like i know it must be usb 2.0.

greets LeBastard.

You don't. This cable is for connecting your apex from pc to ps4 so you can use macros, scripts, lighting settings. A basic USB 3 Data cable should be enough to connect your controller to apex

Iím thinking of trying this on a windows 8.1 laptop I own or possibly an old windows 7 pc if the specs are adequate. Iím guessing the newest versions of c++ and .net framework will work?

I LOVE YOU
bakbanaan, EVEN LESS INPUT LAG THAN the buggy Belkin!!!! This cable is fantastic! Ths Prolific PL-25A1, have NOT tried the suggested Laplink cable yet, but right out of the box this one is significanntly better. Belkin would freeze and i had ASDW working but the keys wouldnt release, then i couldnt get Belkin to reconize by Xim Link and this instantly works whenever i close xim link and reopen itm

We need a Leo input lag test device. The Belkin cable is causing problems for a lot of people, I have also noticed input lag. There are two chipsets on a PC motherboard, the mouse and keyboard and the regular usb. Any pre or post report with programming can cause Xim Link to mess up. The PL-25A1 chipset is incredible!!!! BELKIN IS AWFUL! Lots of users are reporting issues, probably jumbled programming with xim link and a chip that has 0.05% chance of crashing or causing behind the scenes programming errors. Careful of which cable you buy! Someone needs to buy the Leo device that the fellows use at Rtings website to test gaming monitors on these cables!!!! LISTEN! Input lag will fix the programming errors between xim apex and xim link!!! Im certain thats the technology fault here withr everyone having problems with Belkin cables.

This is the science of different USB ports. Might help you with any issues, since I believe input lag is directly related to cable problems. But i also believe that a really good cable could solve everyone's issues with xim link and detecting the transfer cable.

r0ger-yes, there is a delay using XIM Link and cable Belkin,I didn't quite understand how to get rid of the delay, but I'll try to connect the cable to the port on the motherboard, the topic is interesting to me, I'm waiting for the continuation)
Title: Re: System requirements and supported cables

I bought my cable brand new! Don't buy them used... Belkin cables have input lag, and if that isn't enough not to use them, its 100 percent the chipset.

Two reasons not to use Belkin:

1.input lag
2. Random weird stuff, lag, xim link stops detecting it, weird behavior and hiccups during game.

Does this work on PS5? And what controller would you use?
Title: Re: System requirements and supported cables
Post by: r0ger on 11:10 PM - 12/20/21
Don't ask if this works on PS5, check your Xim app and if  "Transfer Cable" right above your Game Input Translator Config Screen (example call of duty game logo art) than it will work.

The question you asked 'Does this work on PS5" is improper, the question ultimately is if the xim apex works on PS5 because the transfer cable works like a device (mouse or keyboard individually) you get a free port on your xim apex hub if xim link works.

I found a cable that works better than Belkin. Belkin fails over time, or randomly does weird stuff, and that stuff either stays the same or progresses.

they have a different name than "Transfer Cable" they call them "Bridge Cables" or "Host to Host bridge cables" and that search brought up some interesting cables.
