How its all connected (The numbers below correspond with the image above.)

Once connected and you have the Apex Link software installed, run software and press the 'Pause/Break' key to activate, your mouse and keyboard are now switched through to XIM Apex.

Use the Apex manager to adjust setting.

Hope this helps those that are new to this type of setup.

Excellent set up diagram. Thank you.
I want to use my keyboard as my input device on the PC and my keypad to game on my console. If I connect as per your diagram with the keypad also connected to the PC, will they function as described?

My ps nav works fine with sandhawc because you can just plug it in the xim not the pc if you want,
So i suppose it will work also with LINK.

Hello, just one question. I've got win 10 can also use a normal USB to USB cable for the connection xim to PC?

For example can I use a normal USB 2.0 cable? Like this one

Hey, can I substitute the XIM Apex for a XIM4? Or is an XIM Apex needed for this to all work? Sorry if this has been asked before, just a simple question that I wasn't able to find the answer to, as I only have a XIM4 and have been out of the loop for almost 2 years.

If your using the Xim 4 you will need to use the SandhawC, there's a whole section for it here http://community.xim.tech/index.php?board=83.0 (http://community.xim.tech/index.php?board=83.0)

I dont think the new Apex link works with the older xim's

I have no error codes, I also have that installed. It only open one time when I first install the software and after that it just stop opening. I re download it and it doesn't want to open anymore. I make sure I have everything updated. It open for my laptop, but not my desktop.

I'm sure this is a weird question, but do you think this will work with both the KB/M and XIM plugged in to PC, and the transfer cable connected from PC to XIM?

Background to the question: I play Fortnite on both XB1 and PC (some of my friends don't like to cross plat). I use the XIM on PC so I don't get confused with pressing different buttons. I currently have an IOGear USB switch connected to the XIM and PC, but my biggest issue is that if I need to do anything in discord and switch back and forth more than a few times using the switch then the XIM will just "die" for a lack of better words. The only way to fix it is to unplug the XIM from my PC and then plug it back in.

I'm thinking some of the issue is due to the Blackwidow X RGB being power hungry. I also have a power adapter for the Apex coming, so hopefully either the link or power adapter will fix it. Thanks for any info in advance!

If i recall correctly someone tried this a few weeks ago and it worked. However i hightly recommend you to not run any scripts through xim link, the pc version of fortnite has a script detection mode that will get you banned within a few games.

Thanks Od1n. Good call on the scripts.

Edit: 07/14/2018: I received the Belkin cable and can confirm that having the Apex plugged in to PC and the M&K plugged in to PC with the Belkin cable from PC to Apex is working in the lobby of Fortnite. The issue that I have now is that Fortnite seems to be recognizing a double input and my character just spins in crazy circles once in the game. Any idea if I can fix this issue?

This is happening because there is an input loop from the controller back to apex through link. Currently there is no way to disable any controller input.

Yeah I figured there was some kind of loop and was hoping there was a way to disable. I know its not top priority as I'm sure only a few people use Xim on PC. I donated $20 because the software is a really great concept and will likely save a lot of people from having to use a USB switch. Hopefully it helps with further development. Thanks again!

I could make it so that joystick input can be disabled with special shortcut. This is something that is fairly easy and fast to implement.

I made a new weekly build where you can disable all joystick input. To do this make a new shortcut to the Link executable and add -noJoystick to the end. For example:
Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files (x86)\W11cE\XIM Link\XIM Link.exe" -noJoystick

I believe this kind of worked. The game fluctuates back and forth extremely fast cycling through PC mode vs Controller mode.I believe it is cycling so fast that I can't open the map because the key is changing between xim / pc. I'll record it in a bit so you can see what I am referring to.

Edit: Example of XIM Link w/ -noJoystick. At one point you see me moving with only the keyboard. This keeps me in controller mode. As soon as I move the mouse it starts flipping back and forth quickly between PC and Controller mode.

This is happening because it is still detecting the mouse movement. There is a way to get around this, but some mouse resolution will be lost. I can make it use hooks instead. This is based on screen coordinates instead, so windows mouse settings affect it. However I can change those on code, so no need to change those manually.

That sounds like a lot of work and I'm probably the only person that will ever even use it. Don't worry about it man there has to be some other things that are higher priority. I appreciate all you have done with it thus far. Really great idea and well implemented.

So this lets us essentially configure the mouse/keyboard settings/macros with the respective brand software on computer before input goes into the xim hub?
For instance G502 mouse cant do advanced repeatable macros when profiles are stored to mouse on board memory, but are available when controlled by logitech pc software

OR, do the macros have to be made inside xim link software?

Most monitors have dual source input, there's usually a button to cycle through the inputs. If your monitor only has one input you might want to look at a DVI switch (see your local Amazon website).

Although I have a 3 screen setup on my PC, my main monitor has my PC connected via the display port and my xbox via the HDMI port. I just cycle through the inputs when I've finished with gaming on xbox.

I saw something about it but wasn't sure if there was a definitive answer.  Is there anyway to get the xim link to work solely through PC.  I use the XIM Apex on PC and I know that not what its intended for but its great for now.  Macros would help a lot though just unclear if that is possible without an xbox or ps4.

Update and Troubleshooting  for Xim Link and Xim 4:

Sorry for my Englich :-).
I use the Belkin F5U258 and Windows 7.
You can buy it on ebay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/333601591615 (https://www.ebay.de/itm/333601591615)

You can use the last Firmware.

Tutorial:
You must know. Bluetooth and Data Cable dont work together.
Disable Bluetooth on your Mobil Phone.

If you use the Bluetooth config, you must disconnect the Data Cable from the PC the Xim 4 from PS4.

1. Installe the XIM4 Manager
1.1. For the first time connect the Data Cable and wait for Driver install
2. Connect the Xim 4 to PS4 and the Data Cable to the PC
3. Start Xim Link (if you have a crash on start look down in this Thread)
4. Press the Cross right of the XIM Apex
5. Add Device and choose Xim 4

If you have errrors
1. Make a Facktory reset with the Firmware Tool
2. Disconnect the Data Cable from the PC the Xim 4 from PS4
3. Connecht the Xim 4 to PS4 and the Data Cable to the PC
4. Crash on Start: go to %appdata% ---> XIM Link ----> delete OutputDeviceList.xml (optional all Config XML)

Quick question, is there a way to remap the Pause/Break button for link activation? I am too used to it for home button and so many times I press it and deactivate the link.

I know I can "add" other buttons for Activation & Deactivations but the issue is that the Pause button will still be active.

Thanks,

Not sure if the right place to ask, but can I use the link as a USB passthrough so I can keep everything plugged into my PC but just use the link as a passthrough to my ps5 for games that use native support for M&K
