Title: XIM apex - read failure (connection timeout)
Post by: facade on 08:16 PM - 03/08/18
I cant connect to it at all on my phone.

Removed it from the Bluetooth list
Restarted it and phone

Just keeps doing this :/

Worked fine with the initial pairing and won't connect again

Apparently switching to xim4 for a bit then switching back fixed it

It sounds like your phone may have been connected to something else at the time.

I got the issue just before and ive never connected my phone to anything else via bluetooth (i don't have anything else that uses bluetooth that i connect to my phone)
A phone restart fixed the issue but ive never experienced any sort of issue like that before with my old xim 4.
Something for you to look into fixing

Did you happen to disconnect your XIM APEX while Manager was running?

when i opened the app it was connecting for ages and then wouldn't connect (i didn't read the message this time) i then closed the app and reopened it and then it stated the read failure, after this i restarted my phone and it all worked.
the xim flashed i think it was teal color the first two times it tried to connect.

Please power cycle your XIM APEX this happens again and let me know if that makes it work.

Guys I have the same problem. From the beginning it would take a while before xim apex would connect. Additionally it can't pair with any of the two android phones i tried as xim4 would pair (even though with official firmware I could connect in app.). Since i updated to the latest beta firmware i can't connect the app with xim apex anymore (i have the latest manager app that is needed for the beta firmware yes). Any help?
Edit : now it's telling me my firmware is not up to date (which it is). Tried the flash tool again and it says I already have the latest firmware. I tried factory resetting and flashing clean the firmware and I still get from xim manager that I don't have the latest firmware.... Very buggy... How can I fix
Edit: uninstalling the manager apk and reinstalling fixed it

Same thing happened to me. The manager would not connect, not after restarting the apex or console. Reboot of my phone fixed the issue, though I thought it might be because I have a custom rom on my phone, that might not be the case.

Turn off Bluetooth and enable it again, fixed it for me.

I'm also having a connection problem, every time I turn on my Xbox I have to unplug my Apex 2/3 times until it reads the m&k. it also doesn't want to connect to my until I unplug it a 3rd time. Didn't happen until I updated to last firmware, could that be the issue?

No, the latest firmware doesn't change any of the connection logic as compared to the prior. It would be great to know what type of phone you have.

I'm using an ios device- IPhone x if that matters. I tried restarting my phone, restarting the xim, the xbox, everything and it will not connect to the XIM manager on my phone.

What do you get for the error? Also, there are 2 places that require you to turn on Bluetooth, are both on?

I get a cannot read error on the app, also the xim isn't reading the mouse and keyboard right away. I have to unplugged the xim from my xbox 2/3 times in order for it to read them. This didn't happen until I updated to the lastest version on the xim.

Sorry to hear you are running into issues. Can you start a new thread under Support so we can help you better?

Sorry to necropost, but just got my Xim Apex.  Long time Xim user.  Everything on initial setup went great, Apex manager connected first time.

At some point I changed the mouse polling to 1000hz and it said the Apex needed restarted.  I unplugged it from the console (while manager open) and plugged back in.  From that point the Manager would no longer connect.  I tried rebooting the Manager app on my S8 as well as unplugging the Apex and replugging back into the Xbox.  Nothing worked.

As someone suggested disabling bluetooth, I did that but it still wouldn't connect until I closed Manager and replugged the Apex in once more.  Surely this isn't expected behavior?  My Xim4 never did any of this.

At any rate, back up and running, can't wait to test it out.

Side note:  My Xim4 always showed up in my bluetooth list.  I don't see Apex in that list as a paired device.  During my troubleshooting above, at some point it showed up in the bluetooth list as a found device but I couldn't manually pair with it.  Now that I'm connected and working again with Manager, it no longer shows on the paired devices list.  Is this normal behavior with Apex?  Did the connection piece change somewhat?

I have exactly the same problem with my Device.Tried everything but without success.Any ideas would be helpfull.
I tried to test the connection with BLE Scanner and its connecting properly and the signal is strong witch means that the problem is software(most likely Apex Manager or Apex firmware).

You'll need to sure sure not to pair your XIM APEX via the Bluetooth devices list on your phone. If you already have a connection open to your XIM then you cannot connect to it via Manager. The best thing to do is kill Manager and also cycle your Bluetooth radio (which you did) and power cycle your XIM APEX to make sure there are no open existing connections to your XIM APEX.

I've been trying the last couple of days to make it working but without full success.I came across on internet some very good articles why device is not working except from the very first time.
https://blog.classycode.com/a-short-story-about-android-ble-connection-timeouts-and-gatt-internal-errors-fa89e3f6a456 (https://blog.classycode.com/a-short-story-about-android-ble-connection-timeouts-and-gatt-internal-errors-fa89e3f6a456)
Anyway,I can't pair this device on any phone so far(ZTE Axon Elite Pro,Samsung S8).
Furthermore, when I upload some game configuration on the Xim Apex(via PC software),I can connect but as soon as I try to make any configuration change , device is disconnecting.I can partially  use the Xim Apex at this point , but I can't make any changes in real time.
Its a big issue using this BLE technology because I lot of people are having difficulties(except the very first time),pairing the Xim Apex.

I'm still having this issue.. I've just learned to deal with it unfortunately.  For me I have found I don't even have to cycle my Bluetooth.  All I have to do is open Manager, if it doesn't connect, close it from my open apps list and reopen it again.  After a couple of closes/reopens it'll finally start working.  Issue is recurring.

Very annoying.

Note:  I do not have it paired via my Bluetooth.  And I have a new S8 (where my post was a different S8).

Here's a fresh comment. My manager will have the error "Connect Failure (XIM APEX not found). What is interesting is that the mouse and keyboard still work and you can swap to other game profiles with your assigned keys. I believe its an issue with the app itself and not an issue with the Bluetooth connection. Restarting my phone is the only way to restore connection. NOT restarting the xbox/Bluetooth. Not killing the app in the phone and restarting. Turning the phone off and on.

Has XIM team had issues with this before or is this something we can troubleshoot to identify a fix for future patches?

This isn't normally something we hear about. What type of phone is it?

I am now having this issue. Tried everything in this article. Nothing works. I setup my xim for the first time yesterday, which went great. now it just tells me 'read failure (timeout)', (using my phone, as I'm plugging XIM into XBOX). I've turned off bluetooth and turned it back on. I've tried reinstalling the app, I've tried restarting my phone. I do not have another phone that I can try it on. When I plug in the XIM to my Xbox, after pressing the button, it will do the random flashes then go to red, yet the app will still say 'Connecting'.

P.S I use a Samsung Galaxy J3

P.S 2.0 - Just tried it on my pc, It does connect to my PC.

Also I am guessing there is still no solution to this yet.
