Hey ObsIV, have you got your hands on one yet?

Hoping to hear news on shipping date for GRIFTA classic units soon.

With the NAV on the brink of extinction, I'm very interested in this as well. Anyone know where I can purchase one?

I think they are only shipping to half of the their backers right now. I would imagine they would open up their shop once all of their obligated orders are fulfilled. It seems like they will be sold on Amazon eventually.

Is Xim (Obsiv) working with them? Just curious because at the bottom of their page they say "XIM Tech will provide the Grifta with drivers and support on launch! For their amazing XIM4 take a look at www.xim4.com".

Also, what is "antler"? I noticed the trademark down at the bottom of the page for Grifta and Antler.

Yep, only the single units (left hand) are shipping to Kickstarters. The double units (left and right hand) are still on back-order.

Most likely, ObsIV will add support for GRIFTA devices on XIM4. The "Antler" is an attachment designed for motion control with three infra red LEDs, and will be used in conjunction with an IR receiver, such as the Sony PS3 Eye camera.

It should be working already with XIM4. Please let us know if that isn't the case.

We've been talking to the owner of Grfta for awhile to ensure XIM4 supports their device.

It's available to purchase on their site. I emailed them to clarify as I thought there was only enough stock for backers.

I don't think it will suit me but I'm getting desperate for a solution. The stick shouldn't be offset, it'll throw it all out of balance.

Well this is pretty concerning:

Quote
Bit of a concern that the registered company for this, Grifta Limited, has been issued with first notice of being struck off.
https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09770934/filing-history
At which point, if he does not complete his fillings, any money raised by Kickstarter and all property therein will fall to the UK Government rather than be fulfilled.

It now says that the company will be dissolved as on the 28th Feb. Unlucky for the backers unless he has registered under a different company name which it doesn't look like it has.

I ordered one on Wednesday and got DHL tracking info today... so far so good.

And I was told they have already shipped out units to all backers. The stock they are selling through the website is apparently leftover stock after sending out the backer units. It gets shipped straight from the factory in China via DHL.

That's not true. Solos maybe, but not the doubles. I haven't received anything related to my Grifta order on Kickstarter.

I have no doubt the first round of stock will arrive. But it's the longevity that I want. I spend heaps of energy fine tuning my Titan scripts to a very specific setup, I create all sorts of custom made mounts (see sig) and tailor my whole setup around the left and right input devices that I settle on. So I need to know if this thing breaks in 12-24-36 months there will be a replacement available for purchase.

This is why I'm looking for Nav alternatives because I have one broken and three out of batteries and it's almost extinct. I'm hoping the Switch Joycon will be compatible because that should be around for a good 4-8 years (4 years in its prime, 4 years after market). It's also one of the reasons why I chose the Logitech G502...even if there's a better mouse on the market I don't care, I want a big name that will be around for me to buy when mine dies. I'm kind of sick of buying unique exotic devices that I then need to scour the internet for when I need a replacement!

So yeah it's the longevity of the Grifta (among some other concerns) that really makes me hesitate. What I'm seeing so far doesn't fill me with confidence...

You can change the bateries, it isn't a hard fix.

I've already replaced one and have another battery on the way in the mail.

But they are custom fitted batteries designed specifically for Nav, which means they aren't likely making any more, which means the existing stock must be old...which means they are going to lose their charge sooner or later, just like stock Navs. And that's assuming you'll even be able to get them for much longer. Considering the average price on eBay is around 3x what they used to cost, this tells me stocks are dwindling.

Longevity is the key here. Navs are living on borrowed time. Grifta looks like it'll be dead after the first round. I believe Joycons are our only hope.

Have you tried taking the battery out and just playing with it plugged in, or pluggin it into one of those battery banks, the ones they use for cell phones?

I'm sure when I pulled mine appart it was just a C or D size rechargable battery.

It doesn't work without a battery, I thought about that. I was hoping I could just have it permanently wired.

As for other batteries yes I will try that next. I'm going to begin buying up second hand ones from the shops as the few I've bought on eBay so far have been fakes.

I was looking forward to this but sounds like it might be dead in the water. Any update on whether Grifta will officially launch in the retail market? I agree with piiwii, I want a nav controller that will have some longevity. I'll hold off on Grifta till it seems like it'll be a company that will be around for a while. I'm also done considering a Sony Nav since that's a tech on the verge of extinction.

I very much doubt it, it's a niche device so even if it was moderately successful, I think it has a better chance of existing exclusively (or at least starting) online. I can't imagine any big chains wanting to carry this.

That being said I would be thrilled if it happened. I'm not a huge fan of what I'm seeing so far but the more Nav alternatives on the market the better. I just don't see it taking off :(
