Title: My Setup for MWR/BOPS3. *UPDATED 17/11/16*
Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 05:33 AM - 11/11/15
Making a thread of my set up for personal future reference.
And somewhere to direct people asking about my setup.

==========COD4RM SETTINGS==========

==========XIM SETTINGS==========

I'm using this experimental drop from OBsIV:

Quote
2nd Drop -   "New Steady Aim experimental test build is available here: http://cloud.xim4.com/Beta/XIM4Flash-20160624-STEADYAIM1.exe

This modifies how Steady Aim works (still hijacks Boost for 0 to 100 intensity). You prior values for Steady Aim are no longer valid.

Also, this build changes how Ballistics work. Curves now map to 100% of maximum turn speed (as opposed to 125%). 125% was chosen before due to limitations of STv1. STv2 doesn't have this limitation so the curve now has an effective higher resolution with this test build."

- OBsIV

With my curve here:

Curve STv2 ver.:
(To be used on both HIP & ADS)
Code: [Select]
>>> XIM4 [Mouse Ballistics] START PASTE >>>
X4MB:AAAAGgA0AC4AMAAwAC4AMgAwADEANQAwADgAMQA2AA8cKDI8RlBaZG54goyWoKq0vsjI:X4MB
<<< XIM4 END PASTE <<<

Boost set to 50 with 12000Dpi  & steady aim on.

Its still not perfect, but for me its a lot better than using vanilla ST on this game in particular.[/quote]

I only suggest this because the aim assist is so strong in this game, I've finally found a setup that I can play at a somewhat decent level with. I'm struggling with the default COD4:RM Smart Translator.

Bruuh! XD that was "at the time" the cheapest Mech keyboard I could find xD. But I highly recommend Mech keyboards, its night and day. It will change the way you play for sure. You feel a lot more connected to your movement bud.

Hi YEESH_DALE,

Isn't your sensitivity low? Or you feel it's better that way cause of AA?

Im a pc player and i play like 2000 dpi on pc so.. my sensitivity here is 40 or so.. am i doing something wrong or being prejudicated by AA?

Cheers!

His DPI is 6400.  Seems he plays at a little lower sensitivity, but not that far off from yours.

I found the sensitivity a little low as well. I basically doubled the sensitivity he is using (playing on a 5600 DPI mouse) and have been having consistent success.

However, out of all the curves I've tried since I received my Xim4, his has been my favorite and he has been the most helpful!

To be honest I play much much lower than this sensitivity on PC, so this feels really really fast to me xD.

Everyone is different dude. I can recommend my curve, but the rest of this thread is really just for my own personal future reference. (I only included my peripherals, for the inevitability that someone would ask.)

I'm million miles away from being anywhere near as good as some of the players on this website, but this setup has served me well in the last two CODs and feels great on BOPS3.

And I've used XIM since XIM1 and this is by far the best it has ever felt to me.

If you wasnt using that small curve adjustment u would have your sens a little higher to compensate i guess

Exactly, I like as low a sensitivity as possible.
This curve is the perfect balance for my play style.

I can retain a manageable HIP speed and still 180 when I need to.

Yes! 1000% you need a Mech keyboard xD!

I recommend cherry reds. You can pick one up for under 100 these days easily.

Yea I bought that keyboard and the vast majority of my setup before I had responsibilitys xD. But still you can put spare money aside without feeling too bad about it.

Mech keyboards are good tbh, the switches are durable, so 50 is a bargain matey. You should post the link for others.

My question to anyone here.. high sensitivity will give you less control of your xim/AA since xim has a maximum level of recognition?
Will lower sensitivity give you better results and a smoother feeling of a keyboard and mouse vs the AA and deadzones etc?

It's all based on personal preference buddy.
No two gamers could agree on that.

For me it plays perfect, for others it will feel like they're fighting the game if they are used to much higher sensitivities.

I would say find your own sensitivity that you're comfortable with, then lower that by 1 or 2 points and drop this curve on.

It's not for everyone.

Thank you YEESH i think i will consider getting one.  You say its night and day from conventional keyboards,  could you explain that a little bit?  Its like more responsiveness or maybe less input lag using mech keyboard with XIM4?

Yes definitely more responsive, the activation is much sooner, it just makes the whole movement experience much more connected.

Dale,

I'm new to XIM4 and I am starting to get somewhere in terms of what settings I need.  I'm ready for curves :)

However, I want to understand what it is I am changing.  So, if I apply your curve, what should the result be?  You are raising above the line for MOST of the curve, so the 1:1 goes away.  Your aim speed is now slightly above the mouse input speed.  Wouldn't a change in sens do the same thing?  You are getting the aim to react more to less mouse movement, except at the very low and high ends, which might be your goal.  And if it is, then i'm getting somewhere :)

See, I am trying to get a bit more snap when I move fast, which would mean I would need a bit more "curve" at the top end if I am not mistaken.  I don't want more sens because it is killing my aiming.  At lower mouse speed I want that fine aiming.  So basically example 1 on pg 19 of the manual, I think!  I want it to move FAST when I move the mouse fast and move SLOW when I move the mouse slow.  Right now, it just doesn't feel that way.

Thanks Dale!

@Coldman Coolermaster is the same brand as my keyboard, I can't say its quality is superior quality, but its definitely worth what I paid for it. I'd suggest taking the name if that board and googling a few reviews for it before purchase.

I'm not an expert in the finer details of exactly what the ballistics curve is doing to the look mechanic.

But i'm sure there are countless threads knocking about that fully explain everything, right down to the last detail.

I just look at Ballistics Curve's like i'm adding acceleration to my look mechanic. With XIM there is a turn speed cap (where basically you can't go any faster because the game thinks the controller stick is pegged all the way).

So you have to learn to play differently with XIM compared to PC mouse input. You have to ride the edge of the turn speed cap if you're wanting to make long sweeping turns e.G 180 shots.

You can definitely achieve what you're looking for by tweaking your ballistics curve to have a more pronounced curve nearest the top end of it. And that should give you your desired effect.

But then, I'm a massive advocate of 1:1 and I would suggest that whatever you do, you try to keep the line straight. That is my own personal preference though.

But in the end I made this curve for my needs, I had a lot of success with it so I thought I would share. I'm just happy to see others are getting something out of it too.

With it I can put my crosshair where ever I want whenever I want. It feels loose, and snappy. I found the regular ST with no curve left me having to up my sensitivity quite substantially (almost uncontrollably) to be able to flick onto targets as fast as I can with this curve. The difference being, that I can still have a relatively low to medium sensitivity that is controllable but allows me to flick to my targets better.

I suggest making a separate test Config/ST! play around with the curve.. Who knows you may find something that you feel is worth sharing with the community.

Oh I know,  I just always thought CoD moved pretty quick to me even on those settings. I can't even imagine playing as fast as some of you guys do. I think it's from playing so much CS at a crazy low sens.

When I was still using the 2.4x method my hip seemed so crazy fast and it was still nothing compared to how a lot of people play lol

I red light even with my ads at 8 on 3600 dpi if I swipe really fast. Seems like some people would be red lighting all the time, and it really impacts performance when that happens, at least to me.
I guess people just get used to it though.

Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 02:23 PM - 11/11/15
Hmm, well. There is a little more to it than that.

In my experience, there is a middle ground so to speak.

You have to find the balance between black dotting because you move your hand too fast! And black dotting because your sensitivity is too high.

Hence my curve and sensitivity :D

I would prefer my sensitivity to be at least halfed at both HIP and ADS from what it is currently, but then I couldn't move without black dotting..

You have to compromise a little tbh.

Thanks Dale for the reply.  I am going to try your curve out tonight first on it's own config and start from there.

I play with the sens higher than I want to get the snap.  So I do great when it comes to the pre-aim before going to ADS.  But when I try to control recoil there is just too much natural jitter to be super accurate.  I actually had success last night with the 48 Dredge.  The burst fire had very little recoil and the ADS was just a little slower.  Put that together and I was very accurate.

Hopefully I can find a way to mirror that in some ARs via a curve.

Thanks again!

YEESH i tried your ballistic and find it very good just one questions... Are you using the progressive delay fw or the previous one?  Im not sure if its better now using that fw as i read OBsIV is descarting it in the future beta.  Also why dont you use steady aim?

Thanks

Yes I'm on 'progressive delay', I don't feel like there is a need for steady aim on BOPs3, I only felt it was needed for AW.

If OBsIV wants to get rid of Progressive Delay, that's his choice, but a bad one imho. Where did you read he was getting rid of it? Would you mind pulling that up for me please bud?

Of course mate and i think progressive should be keeped too.

Btw i cant find the link for the progressive delay fw for a friend.  Can you find it?

Speaking of Progressive Delay, this is a feature that isn't going to be included in the next Beta. I'm still going back and forth on whether or not to officially support it only because it's unclear to me if it's something that is going to regress aim for a large amount of the community.

See he says things like that, and then doesn't explain himself. What does he mean 'regress aim' how? It works a @#$% site better than regular delay.

No sorry I don't. I know that there is a STv1 curve to STv2 converter. I'm not too sure about the reverse.

Really happy you like it, I tried playing yesterday without the curve, but as good as the standard is, every gun battle was a fight with AA.. I went from laser beaming people with the XR-2 to constantly being push just outside the hit box and missing a lot of shots.

Yes bud, you take the following code and use the paste feature under advanced settings in the XIM App. (The box with the arrow point down into it next to the ballistics curve screen/box).

Code: [Select]
>>> XIM4 [Mouse Ballistics] START PASTE >>>
X4MB:AAAAGgA0AC4AMAAwAC4AMgAwADEANQAwADgAMQA2AA8cKDI8RlBaZG54goyWoKq0vsjI:X4MB
<<< XIM4 END PASTE <<<

The curves work for the XIM4, independently from the Console.

The two boxes overlapping each other icon is (Copy) so if you pressed that first you basically copied the standard ballistics line.

You need to copy the ballistics curve from this topic, then  hit the paste button. (The box with the arrow pointing into it.)

HI

I'm having an issue. Like when i play custom games just to try how my setups or setups from you guys(pros) feels nice and smooth and perfect. But with the same setup when i jump in a online multiplayer game, it feels so horrible. Feels like gravity pull to and close by objects(wall, cars, fence)

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thank you

Your AIM? Or your player character?/movement?

This could be a problem with your controller, your analogue stick/thumb sticks could be slightly worn and tilting?

I can't think of another reason why this would be happening?

My character, Seems like always ran into walls and stuff, especially around the coroners. I have tried you setup, liked it. But there is the same problem works really smooth on custom games(playing with bots) but sucks playing multiplayer. I don't think my controller's analog stick worn out. I just bought this PS4 three months ago, and honestly who uses controller more than few push of button among us? I have tried playing Ghosts, AW works perfectly fine. I have no idea what causing this. Nevertheless call me crazy but this BO3 is way too much overrated. Spawns are horrible, all pretty much spawn looking at enemy or  right in front of an ADS gun. All play like bellllend, camp balls deep, head glitch with Gorgon.Lag is hell, even i have Netduma.

You should setup a topic asking for help with your movement problems. Since it's baffling me.

I was having a hard time of it the first couple days of BOPs3, but it seems the connection side of things has settled down for me and I'm having a blast. The way this game has felt for me over the first few days though, all that could change tomorrow and it could go back to feeling horrible...

It's kinda you're duty as a fellow XIMer to report any problems you're experiencing (even if you don't like the game you're experiencing the problem on xD).

It could (I very much doubt it) be a problem with the XIM, that is specific to your setup. Or more likely it could be a easily fixed problem within your own button bindings and or hardware.

Happy gaming :)

Argh, not sure if serious xD.

Use whatever sensitivity feels right to you bud.
The point in the curve is to give a very slight edge to the regular ST to cut into Aim Assist without giving you unpredictable uncontrollable aim.

Ok yesssh, I was using your old curve. I will be trying out the ones you posted in this thread tonight with BO3 on Xbox. They look very promising. My question is should I update the firmware on my xim4 before I use these? I'm sure I have the old FW. I bought the sim at launch like usual lol. But man I'm having a tough time here. It's like info overload. Seems like the edge was just smoother to me with your old vanilla curve for AW. I will post full stats on the curve and my equip setup tonight, I just want to play the @#$% game haha. Thanks for all you do for the community bro, I don't post much but have been a long time member and the help is GREATLY appreciated.

Good luck.

Post by: trojanhorse on 04:00 PM - 11/16/15
i don't want to make a new thread, so I'll ask a question in this topic.
Is it easyer to break through target assist by using higher DPI? Atm I'm using 3600DPI and my aim is really stable. When I bought xim I started using  12k DPI and my  crosshair was all over the screen :D
I know it's all about your personal preferences but has anyone compared TA impact while playing with low and up to 8k DPI?
Title: Re: My Setup for BOPS3 (thread for personal reference).
Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 04:14 PM - 11/16/15
I assume you lowered your XIM sensitivity drastically going from 3600Dpi to 12k?

As for more DPI cutting into AA better, I really couldn't say.
Newer CODs certainly feel like they have much more Aim Assist than previous titles.

I for one never felt the need to use Curves until I played AW..
And I've tried playing BOPS3 without it, and I do struggle to get my aim dead centred on my targets without it.

The horrible thing that you already know and don't want to hear from me is simply that it does come down to personal preference. There are players on this forum that dominate COD without curves. With all sorts of different mice.

Best advice I can give to anyone, spend a bit of time tweaking (no longer than a week) get it to feel comfortable, once you're there! Stick with it, through good games and bad.

It'll pay off in the end.

Roger that. I was trying to use a old curve from RML or jaBRO I think. Just wasn't cutting it at all. Like I was fighting myself lol. Will get on that as soon as I get off work.  In reference to my setup, I will be using a Logitech g510 and nostromo. I will get dpi and polling setups when I flash the new FW you suggested to the xim-Zala-bim.
Can't wait. Thanks again.

Thank you, I was surprised myself at how nice such a small curve felt for me. I'm just happy others do too.

The cloud system isn't a bad idea, maybe a bit pie in the sky, but how cool would it be to access them through the XIM app itself?

Or maybe a separate community built App built around your idea. (Upvoting / rating). With a tap to copy feature, would make it seamless next to the XIM App.

I guess what I don't understand is why does this need to be done?  Shouldn't the ST run perfect when it's been made?  I feel like stuff like this never needed to be done before ST2.
Title: Re: My Setup for BOPS3 (thread for personal reference).

You're looking at STv2 as the problem, but IMO its the stronger AA in more recent CODs.

Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 06:31 AM - 11/17/15
Game devs have definitely upped the AA as they do every year with COD, they kind of have to with the fast movement of AW and BOPs3, or at least to compensate for the diagonal boost jumps that the jet packs allow.

Also, pad players are generally better at COD than they used to be, and I'm sure with the movement, more have felt the need to buy SCUF type controllers. Out of all my casual pad friends (even ones who don't play for months at a time) I only know of one that doesn't use a SCUF.

@Dale, I like it too, the finer aiming movement is much better. I am surprised that such a "small" curve makes such a big difference. I really wonder why this is not the BO3 standard, instead of shipping it with a standard linear curve. (you can always go back to linear if wanted but I think this would benefit most of the BO3 xim players)

Did you add boost to your ADS settings ?

Yep! Only difference I see is I'm not currently using progressive delay firmware because I'm an iOS beta app user and not sure if that supports that firmware or not, so I've been just using a set value 184ms delay.

Go for a couple TDM or FFA's and it should just click for you.
Aim is precise but snappy, no weird speed boosts..

Don't use the curve xD. This isn't for everyone.
If it doesn't feel right to you, then you should just try to run 1:1 or look for a different curve :)

Yes the curve is implemented inside the XIM4, its indifferent to which console it is being used on.
It may feel slightly different to how it does on PS4, but with the X1 having higher stick resolution, it may even feel better :D

I had no curve set so thought I'd try it for the night. Seems nice to me...will keep it on. I used to have one that looked somewhat similar to do this when I had my XIM Edge on last gen. Can't remember who's it was though.

20 hip
8.5 ads
184 delay
steady aim disabled

Mouse - Corsair M65  8,200dpi
Keyboard - Corsair K70 (red switches)
Pad - Corsair MM200

I use only AR's on this game most of the time.

Yep! I mean, if you're playing fine without a curve then IMO there is no need to try them, if you're looking for a little something extra then there is ballistics.

Like I said I was never a fan of them really, I tried many since they have been around, but this just clicks with me. I've never over shot a target with the added acceleration, and for the most part I just seem to land right ontop of them, which is why I get a bit emotional when they won't go down...

I have the same mouse.  It was quite some time ago that I had it connected to my pc and set it up.  I don't recall. A LOD setting.  Screenshots of your razee config please :)

Edit1:
Ok I looked mine up....
I had 1000hz polling.  I changed to 500 to see what it's like.

My lift off was at 3.  You like yours at 1?  Max is 10.

Edit2:
Holy @#$% that's slow.  I have same mouse, same dpi, same poll
I use 28.5 hip and 27.5 ads!!!!!!!

Title: Re: My Setup for BOPS3 (Personal reference). *UPDATED 19/11/15*
Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 07:47 PM - 11/19/15
You simply set yor DPI polling and whatever else in the drivers on PC unplug and stick it in your XIM4.

It saves the last profile used.

@Prodeje, drop the curve over your own setup :)

Just take note of the curve and boost. Everything else should be your own preference.

Hi Guys, I'm new to the XIM4 and I want you to ask two questions:

1) How does the Curve affect aiming? Is there a video with a good explanation?
2) When you say 'steady aim disabled' - do you mean the attachments for weapons?
3) What's the boost for? Isn't it the same function as setting the sensitivity higher?

Yea, i'm thinking i love the mouse! Its really nice, but has one major flaw that inhibits my play style!
And it's AFAIK it's a problem that can't be solved..

The mouse wheel is horrific! So i can't settle into my game properly.
Aside from that, the shape is (extremely unexpectedly) growing on me.

I will have to send it back reluctantly.
If this mouse was lighter and had a plastic wheel i could fall in love with it.

but those two factors take me well outside my comfort zone and throw my aim.

At first I really hated G502 by its shape. I had a feeling like i'm only holding it with my finger tips (felt too long and narrow somehow), but now I am used to it and very pleased. I was so close to throwing it away and using G500 again :D
Title: Re: My Setup for BOPS3 (Personal reference). *UPDATED 16/12/15*
Post by: Lord Of The Sith on 04:47 AM - 12/18/15
Yea I'm surprised by the shape, I hated the G400/500 they felt horrible. And although this is very different from the Death Adder, it is quite comfortable.

It's downfall is the weight and mouse wheel.
PC World will only allow you to return unopened items, so I'm stuck with it.

Apparently if you have a spare Logitech mice knocking about you can take the mouse wheel out and swap them around. (G500 or whatever).

My problem is that I never liked the mouse wheel on any of the Logitech I've tried. They feel too loose, where as the DA with the lighter wheel just stops the second you flick it / let go.

And yep I'm talking about the wheel being in locked mode not free flow. Even with the notched functionality it can over scroll...

@YEESH_DALE:

Is the curve setting from your begin post still the one everyone is talking about in this topic?
Also I see a lot 'STV2' but I cant really find what that is? :(   Where should I start to get your curve?  You did also had a G502? Or do you use Deathadder 2013? (which you mentoined in your beginpost)

It's wheel isn't indeed the best one. I use scroll down as weapon change and when I want to do it, I have't to do it very slowly. Sometimes it takes 5 secs to change from assault rifle to rocket launcher.

STv2 stands for Smart Translator version 2.
If you're on the latest FW or Release Candidate, you will be running STv2.

The curve in the original post is the curve people are talking about. And I'm trying it with the G502 currently:

12k DPI
500Hz

6HIP
2.5ADS

But please use your own setting in conjunction with the curve.

Hi Yeesh forgive me total noob when it comes to the Xim4 as I am a PC gamer but bought a PS4 as a lot of my friends have them.  I am trying your curve out for Advanced Warfare and notice in your pics in the initial post you have steady aim turned off is this just a personal preference or does your curve work better with it off ?

I don't play IW sorry bud. But if i did, i would probably be using SA5 with 65 ADS boost and 40 HIP Boost no curves @4k DPI and around the 13HIP sensitivity and 12 ADS mark 1000k polling

Always use the latest FW at this point in time. There is some testing going on ATM for a new steady aim feature for advanced users.
When that drops to the community as a whole, I'd recommend that.

The curve i have in the original post was one that i thought worked flawlessly with ghosts imho.

I continue to get a red triangle with a ! when I try to copy any ballistic curve at all.. no idea why. I am copying the whole code and still receiving the error.
