Title: Astro Mixamp Alternative
Post by: 1llest on 01:09 PM - 10/16/14
Is there a better alternative to the Astro mixamp on xbox one?

my only gripe is the chat audio quality. my voice sounds muffled and distant when my voice goes through the mixamp, but when I directly plug in my A40 to the stereo adapter, my voice is crystal clear.

And these are a few with the exact same problem;

Toslink cable to PCI E Creative Sound Blaster sound card > Astro "Gaming" Mixamp.

I'll give it a try. How do you route chat from the sound card to xbox one?

sound card out to xbox stereo adapter?

Unfortunately, my current sound card (Titanium HD) doesnt decode Dolby Digital via optical-in (SPDIF).

I have his problem as well and I have a 2011/2012 mixamp. Do a Skype test call to see what it sounds like. Its bad enough that I don't use the mixamp.

I sadly broke my a40's and now use mobile phone headset, seems to also give good audio however, I have never had to dial it so far over to voice before!

Ear buds without mic? The problem I have and I think OP has is the mic quality is degraded. I'd have to check but if I remember right it only picks mids and lows and semi ignores highs. I seem to remember the the mic volume is lowered and maybe distorted. Its been a while since I gave up on it. If you have Skype and your ear buds have a mic do a Skype test call and listen to your voice going through the mixamp vs going into the adapter.

I have the 2012 mixamp pro. This setup works perfectly with the xbox 360, just something about the xbox one that degrades the chat quality while using the mixamp. The october update took out most of the static sound but its still there. I guess I will just have to deal with it.

Toslink cable to PCI E Creative Sound Blaster sound card > Astro "Gaming" Mixamp.

What is your setup like? Does it work with the ps4? Im currently using sony gold wireless headset its kinda ok. If your setup is any better than astro a40+ mix amp I'd gladly get this working.

From what I can see here its your headset > creative sound card > ps4?

for sound quality head over to head-fi website.

There are other alternitives. It seems that ps is more compatible to most of these devices because the Xbox controller . but I'm a ps4 guy so I know nothing so doing use me as an example

about the astro mixamp issues, the problem is the mixamp
if you have a 2013 version you need to upgrade the firmware of the mixamp, see astro homepage
then the odd chat sound is gone

the 2012 mixamp version cannot be patched but overall has less problems than the 2013 version
incase thats not acceptable for you then you might want to look into modding the mono chat adapter that came with the Xbox One, this one doesnt create any odd sound with any mixamp and can me modded to be compatible with any mic and headphone
see eg roads mod in this forum
