Title: CoD4 while aiming
Post by: Redshift on 12:19 PM - 03/14/08
Used nick's config, the controlling felt good while shooting from the hip but felt so slow while aiming, using mx518. Is there anything I can do, to make it as smooth?

Well what I think you may have forgotten about is that you need to set your Secondary Sensitivity "Key Toggle" to Right Click (And or whatever Key you are using to Look Down your Gun's Sites)
That way when ever you aim the XIM program will Turn on the secondary sensitivity and it will be the same as aiming from the hip. . .

A good rule of thumb is to make the Secondary Sensitivity about 1.75-2.0 higher than your primary sensitivity so it feels close if not the same from aiming from the hip.

I think this will fix your issue, and if it doesn't let us know Sir!

There should be a Line called Secondary Sensitivity Toggle in your configuration file, When you find that set it to Whatever key are using to Aim Down your sites and you should be alright. . . There we go that made a little more sense  ha ha . . .

I was wondering about that. I know that on the consoles, down the iron sights isn't designed to just improve the accuracy stat but it's also meant to slow down the movement to help aim and I was thinking about whether you can change it to be like on the PC with the Xim 2.

Only see sensitivity toggle on the analog stick using spectra9. Here's my thing, I've used some of the configs, they all seem so slow, must be doing something wrong. I cranked up the sensitivity, but than i would get slow downs when i shot and tried to aim again. felt like some dead zone issues as well, I'm not sure how to config it. Hopefully someone can tell me you can get it to a PC feel with the XIM or really darn close it. I guess I need to config the x/y deadzone and etc.

If it seems a little slow to you enter a higher TranslationExponent  number.
For instance if its at .46 try  .51 that will speed it up a bit.

The issuee with going higher, is smaller movements start hauling booty when you move it resulting in less accuracy. Could try bumping the primary sens up and adjusting the translation by .01 at a time and see how that fancy's ya.

I'm Using a  Translation exponent of .38 with primary sensitivity at 10.25 and secondary at 13.50 and I like how that feels. . . Maybe it's your mouse DPI that is making it feel slow and clunky?  I run mine on the second setting on my Logitech G5 which I think is 1600 DPI. . . And make sure that when you are in the game you change the "IN-GAME" Sensitivity to INSANE! That could be it too now that I think about it. . . I forgot to do that at first too and everything seemed super slow to me. . . Hope this might help a bit. . . let us know bro!

To answer your question / statement, you can get darn close to being the same from hip to down your iron sites, that it's almost hard to tell. .  .

pri and secondary sens spread of about 1.8 - 2.0 difference feels about right for hip/sights.

Well that's if you want faster sights than hip, I like it pc esque same on everything. Halo 3 makes me mad on diff weps and diff sens dep on dual wield, and wep type makes me mad.

That's one reason I don't play Halo. . . Just can't get into it. . . Just cant! Not that great of a game now that CoD4 is out. . . Personal Opinion of course. . . And sad thing is I've played CS since 1998 and I finally found a alternative =/ Sorry CS
