I'm looking to get a Transfer Cable so I can use XimCommander and possibly writing my own apps.
I'm just wondering if it matters which version I get. The F5U258 is labelled as 'for Vista' while the F5U279 is labelledas 'for Win 7'. Will either version work?
Thanks

Either version should work. It would be great if someone could chime in and state specifically which one they are using. I'm pretty sure mine is the "For Vista" one, but, I can't remember and there is no model number on it.

Thanks OBsIV!
From the pictures I've seen the Vista one tapers in to the cable at both ends while the Win7 one is rectangular.

Will let you know tomorrow: F5U279

I am using the F5U279 version without issues.

Apparently the DYNEX brand does NOT work. I cannot get this thing to connect for the life of me with either commander or xemulate, yet it works just fine between my pc and laptop from vista to win7.

I was using F5U279 on win 7 no issues, but now on windows 8 and XIM 3 does not seem to recognize it :(

I'm running Win7 x64 and my Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows 8 (F4U060tt - 8830tt11764 Rev. A00) works perfectly.

Would this one work?

I had a weird problem with my transfer cable. All of a sudden it stopped being recognized by the XIM Edge, and when connected to the PC it showed up as "USB Easy Transfer Cable" instead of the usual "Belkin USB Easy Transfer Cable".
Honestly have no idea why it stopped working out of the blue as it was fine for the past couple months of using it. It was the F5U279 (Windows 7 version).
I went out and bought the F4U060 (Windows 8 version) and it works perfectly fine and is recognized by both the XIM Edge and my PC.
I had a power outage that morning... so maybe it messed up the cable? But don't really see how as it was still being recognized... just not as a "Belkin" cable. I'm just going to return my old non-working one and keep the new one.
