Title: Finally here
Post by: Shaxx on 07:58 AM - 08/24/11
Yeah after little over a month for me to get the xim3 to Denmark
its finally here
i had some problems at the start with paypal, and then i had to order from the start again, just with my card this time
i tho want to say the support from xim3 side, been amazing, quick support, quick handle to send it my way.
so all good there.

now its here, it looks good., even tho
when i plug my mx 518 and my logitech media keyboard 600 to it,. it needs more power. and sadly i dont have a 5v adapter around me atm.
so have to wait. but its here. and cant wait.

had no problem booting it up to my pc and update the firmware.

going to be awesome to try it out

//Happy Dane

yeah i am shock to really
but yea the lightning icon pop ups.
but i also have a hard time sometimes to get power to my complete new xbox 360. controller.
its a official controller.
but yea lets see what happens, when i get my hands on a v5.

on some xbox versions you MUST plug the xim3 usb into the rear usbs
the front ones dont have enough power!

try that first before you buy an power adapter
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: OBsIV on 09:04 AM - 08/24/11
Yes avoid external power. There is no reason why you'd need it.

Plug your peripherals one at a time and tell us when you get the power fault. Also, do you have anything else plugged into the Xbox USB ports?

Does your media keyboard have a lot of lights on it?
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: Shaxx on 10:35 AM - 08/24/11
so i tested a few things out

1:
i did as u guys told me, i plug it in , at the back of my xbox.. runs fine up.
then i plug my mouse to it. ( as the guide pic showed me ) nothing happen. no light and no icon that my mouse is there.  then my keyboard in the middle and still nothing. then the controller. nothing.
then i pulled out the usb and in again,. starts up. everything blinks ( except my xbox controller )
i can see on the display that mouse and keyboard in a split sec, gets their icon ,and then disappear  again.

no lights what so ever. in anything.

2:
i tried to take my controller and plug it in. but no lights gets on it.
funny thing is, that when i wanted to try it for the first time, to let my xbox find it. it got power
but not any more. plus i used it when i wanted to update the firmware. no problem there
u think the controller is broken ?

so no no lighting icon came up. but yea now just the problem the xim3 wont catch anything and my xbox360 wont start.

Title: Re: Finally here

when you look on the back of your xim3, there are 3 usb ports

the one closest to the DC adapter plug belongs to the controller
the middle usb port is for the keyboard
and the left usb port is for the mouse

this does matter when the xim3 doesnt recognize your devices, those above are the prefered usb ports

try this setup with one of the rear usb ports of your xbox

also are you running the latest firmware?
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: Shaxx on 10:57 AM - 08/24/11
yep thats what i did :-)
i am using 20110407 or well i used the manager to update to the newest. so i think its 20110407

but yea still nothing.
quick blink and then icons off again and lights off on the mouse and keyboard and no sign of life on the xbox 360 at all

i told my dad that he should get a v5 power. to it, he did, but i was away when i came back it was plugt in,

so just a really random shoot
could it be that the power supply , been doing something, to the controler and the xim3?

You are running the latest firmware (407 isn't latest)?

Please connect everything into you PC and tell us what happens. Your XIM3 should also work with everything (your mouse, keyboard, and controller) plugged into your PC.

if i plug the mouse to my xim3 and then into my pc. it blinks , and mouse icon gets there for 1 sec, and then gone again.

my controller is complete dead .

my mouse and keyboard works fine tho when plug to my pc

It sounds like a controller issue, which was common in foreign countries before the latest firmware updates that improved compatibility.

You mentioned you're running the 407 firmware, please update to the 815 firmware. Note that you may have to click the reset to factory default button instead of update firmware.

You won't need a controller to enter pc mode, hold down the red button on the left side of your xim3 while you are plugging it into your pc. Make sure your mouse, keyboard, and controller are not attached while doing this.

Post by: Shaxx on 02:27 PM - 08/24/11
i just did, tried that
nothing happens, still just the same.
cant get it to that mode.

Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: OBsIV on 02:29 PM - 08/24/11
You need to hold the red button down (you'll feel it click), and while keeping it held down, plug in your XIM3 into the PC. Keep holding it down until you see the USB icon on XIM3's screen.
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: mist4fun on 02:43 PM - 08/24/11
Also try other usb ports if it's still not working.
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: Shaxx on 02:54 PM - 08/24/11
okay i did that, i got it into pc mode,
i restore factory.
did fine and it tells me that i got the newest firmware installed.

but i just put my mouse and keyboard  in, and still the same
quick blink, and then dead. again

Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: OBsIV on 03:11 PM - 08/24/11
Do you get a quick blink when in PC-Mode?

The screen goes black? Like, the entire thing is losing power? This happens when you run from a PC too?

Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: Shaxx on 04:05 PM - 08/24/11
just tried all that also
still the same
i can try and record it if i can tomorrow.
and try and show u guys.

but my firmware is: 1.00.20110707
thats what the manager updating it with.
if there any higher, i would love to know how to do that . since it wont let me update to anything else.

Title: Re: Finally here

Is your Xbox the slim type or the old one? If it's the old one, do you use a wireless adapter? If so, does it work at all three USB ports? Have you used a wired controller with the console before?

Regarding your firmware, 707 is indeed the most recent one.
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: OBsIV on 05:02 PM - 08/24/11
No, I don't mean is it shutting down your PC, I mean is it shutting down your XIM3?

Can you plug your XIM3 into your PC or Xbox (without anything else plugged into it) without your XIM3 shutting down?

If you can do that, what happens when you plug your mouse in next?

i use the old one, i use a wired adapter.  yes i can plug the xim3 to all 3 ports, works fine its getting power and start-up

my xim3 never been shutting down, its running fine, even when plugt to the pc

and yes i can. i tried that loads of times, it never shuts down. at one point early today, it was restarting a lot, but also told me the power was having problems. now after my controller complet died when it was attach to the xim3 and now cant start at all. even if my controller is plugt into the xbox 360 it wont start.

if i plug my mouse to my xim3 and its ex in my xbox360, nothing happens. nada. just the main screen, IF I then plug the power out and plug in again,. when the main screen gets there. my mouse light up quick and a sec after the icon gonna come on at the top in a split sec, and then its just back to normal main screen with only the xbox icon at the corner. mouse also dead. there no light under the mouse.

Are you using the mini-USB cable that came with the device? Do you another cable you can try that plugs between your XIM3 and Xbox? I've just never heard of a device getting enumerated and then suddenly disappearing.

From that wee clip, it could be that you have plugged the mouse into the controller port.

Win

And, you get the same behavior with the controller?

Win

i plugged it in the left side of it. as the pic in the support side told me, even tried all ports so.

And, you get the same behavior with the controller?

when i tried it yesterday when the controller worked.  if i remember right i think i saw it come up.
but after my dad plugs the adapter to it, without me telling him to do it. i just feel like after that the xim3 started to act strange. and the controller died. ( and i just bought it for the sake of xim3 :p )

so i got no clue.
i am getting a new controller next week. then i will try and see if it can catch it. with out setting any adapter to it again.

Do you happen to have a second mouse you can try?

Also, can you please try another full factory restore of the latest firmware?

I need to talk to others on the team. I'm stumped. Never heard of this one.

Remind me of your controller? You said something is wrong with it and you are getting a new one? Or, does it do the same thing: plug in, icon flash and disappear?

I looked it up and I found "Output: DC 3.6~12V", but I have no idea what the actual output is.

Are you still using the adapter?

oh no no, i removed it back when u guys told me there were no use for me to use it.
plus the xim3 started to act strange,
like rebooting, and like blinking a lot, when the adapter were in it.
Title: Re: Finally here
Post by: OBsIV on 12:16 PM - 08/26/11
Something tells me that adapter may have fried something inside (if the behavior was the device became unstable). We need to figure out of this can be fixed remotely as shipping times are extreme to you.

In the mean time, please open an RMA so we can track this (instructions linked from the Faq in my sig).
