[RESOLVED] xim apex k&m not working/ not recognized  (Read 69 times)

Hi, first of all congrats to OBsIV and the XIM Team for development of the new, shiny and tiny xim apex. Its from the long time xim user.

Unfortunately for me, right after having received my xim apex from adz gaming, I stumbled upon mouse and keyboard.

My setup: ps4 pro, standard ps4 controller, mouse: logitech g403 (wired), keyboard: das keyboard 4 ultimate (wired).

As for the problem: mouse and keyboard won't work with ps4, either in menu or in game. Xim apex manager shows only the controller, it won't show mouse and keyboard icon in the main menu. Xim apex manager doesn't indicate any input from mouse and keyboard.

What I have done so far (and what turned out to be ineffective):
- PS4 hard reset
- controller connection set to usb
- exchanged the xim hub with new one
- exchanged usb cables with new ones
- exchanged controller
- loaded battery full in both controller and mouse
- verified that xim hub works correctly and connects the mouse with my laptop
- updated xim apex with the latest firmware (beta version from may)
- downloaded xim apex manager and flashed xim apex with smart translator (bf 1).

Guys, PLEASE HELP! :)

Welcome to the community and thank you for those details. Do you see 4x green lights at the end of APEX's startup light sequence?

Please disconnect APEX, remove the keyboard and try this port order. Don't connect the keyboard.

port 1: mouse
port 2: empty (keyboard's port)
port 3: controller

Please check if the mouse now displays in Manager and works in game.

Hi Mist,

I'm positive on both. I've had green lights from the beginning.

Now, after connecting mouse without keyboard, its icon is shown in the manager, plus it accepts changes into keystrokes! No keyboard connected as you said.

Thanks, your keyboard seems to be interfering with other attached devices. Thanks for confirming you're using the beta firmware.

Does the keyboard have two cables? If so try attaching the other cable to APEX instead. If not you could try using a powered hub between XIM and the keyboard, or using a power adapter with APEX's hub. I'm hesitant to suggest this though as it's not an LED keyboard but it does have a hub built into the keyboard. If power is not an issue it seems like the keyboard is not compatible.

Ok, since the keyboard has two auxilliary usb slots I'll try to connect it separately. Otherwise I will try out another keyboard. Must admit though, that this one worked with xim4 flawlessly.

If the second slot doesn't help, or if you have access to either a powered hub or power adapter and these do not help, would you be interested in helping add support for this device? If so please send in a device log so that it could be looked at for support in the future. Here are instructions on how to capture the log.

The second usb slot does not work whatsoever. The only difference is, that mouse icon is shown in the manager when keyboard is connected via auxiliary. Otherwise, xim does not flash 4xgreen at beginning and manager doesn't recognise both devices.

I've dumped the log following your instructions into ximapexdebugstore.bin - do you also need a second file generated ximapexuserstore.bin?

Let me know about e-mail address I should send it.

Do you think its still possible to enable my type of keyboard, or should I start thinking about replacement?

Thanks, I sent that info. Short term yes, using another keyboard would make sense. I don't know when they will be able to get to this or if support is possible.

Thanks mist, I've just sent it. Thanks for your prompt help.

To finalize this case, once I've switched keyboard, the apex and devices work seamlessly.

So far so good.

On the side note, Das keyboard is really good, smooth and perfectly engineered piece of device, so hopefully it will be supported soon.
