[ACTIVE] Xim Apex was working fine yesterday and now it wont work.  (Read 236 times)

I ordered my Xim Apex on Friday and it came in the mail yesterday. I didnt work right away But it turned out to be because i wasnt using the correct cable for my controller but after fiddling around with different cables I finally found one that works and then everything was working great. I played for a few hours on a couples different games to test it and had no problems. But i try to use it again this morning and i can't figure out what is wrong with it. I have tried a few things that I have seen on here but nothing seems to work.

I plug everything in and set it up just as i did yesterday and sometimes the Xim will recognize my mouse and keyboard and it will show up on the manager and sometimes it wont. Other times All of my devices will turn on but my manager cant connect to the Xim. then sometimes my manager will connect and my peripherals wont turn on. But even when my peripherals turn on, they only work for a minute or two and then stop working completely. This is all really frustrating because i havent changed anything from when it was working perfectly and it seems to be a combination of things so its hard to determine what the actual problem is.

I am on xbox and i tried a hard reset and again it worked for about a minute and then stopped. I did a factory reset on my Xim and that didnt work either. Maybe i am just thinking too hard about it and im missing something obvious but any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

hey,

does your xim show a certain light pattern such as yellow/red blinking?
if not could you give us more infos about what kind of mouse, keyboard and controller you are using?

when i plug it in it goes through the red yellow green blue and then stays on pink which is the color i have set for the game im playing.

I am using a razer blackwidow v2 keyboard with the lighting off and a razer lacehead with the lighting dimmed so i dont think its a power issue. and a standard xbox one controller

and for some reason after i posted my trouble it just started working for about an hour no problem not sure why since i didnt do anything differently. then i got back on a little later and started having problems again. and when everything works for a couple minutes everything shows up in the manager and works fine i have the xbox logo and the two razer logos and then after a little they just stop working.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. This could be the hub. Do you happen to have another hub available that you could use to help isolate the problem?

If not, can you please paste the last 30 or so lines of your XIM APEX's Trace Log here? Next time it happens, in Manager press the button right invisible button on the main HUD screen and copy from there. It will help us in understanding what's going wrong.

Also when the controller does turn on I am able to use it normally when itís connected through the hub and the XIM thatís why I did t think it was a hub problem.

I don't see any attached devices in your log. I assume you saw no icons at the top of Manager when the log was taken?

Could you please disconnect APEX, connect only the controller to port 3 of hub then connect APEX to the console?

It would be useful to know if APEX starts with only the controller if it's recognized in Manager and if you see the 4x green lights at the end of APEX's startup light sequence.

There were no icons in the manager at the time of the log.

I tried this a couple times just to make sure and the first time i connected just the controller i got the flashing green lights and it showed up in the manager but then every other time after that it didnt work.


EDIT: Also im not sure if it means anything but i was playing with it perfectly fine again last night. it just started working out of nowhere after trying the same thing over and over again. and then the next time i tried it just stopped working. It seems to just be a sometimes thing when it works but when it does work it works flawlessly.

Thank you for testing multiple times. The controller cannot be hotswapped though, did you start APEX fresh each time? This would be necessary for testing.

Could you run this test without the hub? If you experience the same issue with the controller sometimes not displaying/authenticating then this would point toward a cable or controller issue.

I did unplug the xim with each test

just tried twice without the hub and i got the green lights both times and the icon shows up in the manager. seems to be a hub problem. unfortunately i dont have another hub to test with but it makes sense.

Thanks, if you're seeing that kind of inconsistency with the hub and only the controller and no issues without the hub then unfortunately it does seem like the hub may be at fault. If you would like to request a replacement please open a ticket using the link below. In the meantime any 2.0 hub should work with XIM until the replacement arrives.

Thanks for help i have submitted my ticket and i will try to get a different usb hub soon to try in the meantime. thanks again i will post results with the new hub once i can.

I was having the same issue until I set the polling of the apex back to 125hz. Apparently setting it higher makes usb hubs not work. Tried with two different ones that work with the PC just fine. Problem occurs on both PS4 pro and Xbox one x.

Hey sorry for the late reply i will test this a post my results.


EDIT: it is already set to 125hz in my manager and I am on the original xbox one so i think it really just is a hub problem for me unfortunately. i appreciate the suggestion though.
