Game controller improvements

1. wireless support for DS3 and DS4
It is painful to use wired connection. And it is easy to disconnect while using micro usb cable with controllers.

2. button remap
Currently, XIM Apex can't do this. It will send both the original button and the new one.

3. rapid fire
  A useful feature.

4. joystick sensitivity adjustment

5. inverted axis

Xim is first and foremost a mouse & keyboard adapter. It excels in this role and outperforms every competitor by a wide margin.

If you want that list of features, pick up a Titan Two. It can be paired with a Xim for the best of both worlds.

Guess I am the only gamdpad+mouse player here.  :( But why limit the market to kb+mouse players? That's just a small market because console  games are made for gamepad in mind.  I am currently playing GTA 5 at this moment. It is doable to drive whith kb+mouse, but it is not a enjoyable experience.

XIM Apex plays as a translator which translate mouse, keyboard, joystick inputs to gamepad inputs. The features I want can be a selling point fo XIM Apex. Please think about it in the future, ok?

No youíre not the only one. I was using a similar setup too until recently.

Itís a great way to play for those of us used to analogue sticks.
Setup: XIM Apex, Titan Two, Switch Joy-Con, Logitech G502, Razer mouse bungee, SteelSeries 4HD mousepad, DXRacer armrest, LucidSound LS30 headphones, Netduma router, Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR wireless access point

My setup (incl. Joy-Con mount): https://bit.ly/2jic7bG

Glad to hear that.  :)

I am wondering why XIM Apex has wireless support for Joy-con, but not DS3, DS4? They all use bluetooth.

The console controller must be wired to the Xim via USB to address the authentication pings. Given Xim is wired, it needs to respond on the same channel as it's essentially masking itself as that wired controller.

From memory, it may be possible to have a wired auth controller for one console (e.g XB1), and another wireless controller for another console (e.g PS4) but only when using the Cross Console Controller ST. It's a vague recollection, the mods would know more.

I don't think that'll help in this case. What you could do is combine a Titan Two with a Xim. One of the configurations I've used is a wired Xim setup inc controller in INPUT-A, with a wireless XB1 Elite in INPUT-B via the XB1 wireless adapter. That pre-dates the Titan Two Bluetooth adapter, so it's likely even simpler now, but would still require two controllers.

antithesis,

Thank you for the explanation. Is it possible to pair DS3 (or DS4) after the authentication? Just like the first time you need to connect DS3 (or DS4) to PS3 (or PS4) wired and press the PS button, then you can pull out the cable and it will pair.

Ok I think I understand what's going on now.

You're trying to use the authenticating controller as your main controller. No this won't work, the button mappings won't give you what you're looking for. This confused me a lot at first too.

You will need to buy a second DS4 or XB1 pad and use that instead.

As for Antithesis' idea to use a Titan Two, this won't work for a lot of games. 99% of people who use an analogue stick prefer to map the ADS button to their left hand, which means Titan Two won't work. This is because T2 sits downstream of the XIM so you won't be able to take advantage of XIM's ADS curve. Only games with an ADS curve that is identical to the hip curve will work fine. I tried playing COD like this and it just doesn't work, but it's ok for Halo, R6 etc.

Itíll work fine if ADS is mapped to the mouse. 99% of m/kb users do that, less so on console.

After thousands of hours on console...unfortunately old habits die hard! I found it impossible to transition unfortunately :(

piiwii,

I just bought a Logitech G402, there are enough buttons for me to map gamepad's right-hand buttons. So the main concern now is wireless support for DS3 (DS4).

BTW, you still need a wired gamepad even though you use Joy-con, right?

antithesis,

There are drivers for PC to connect DS3 (DS4) wirelessly. I guess BT pairing is not an issue. And if Titan Two doesn't need a wired gamepad for the authentication, they must have found a way to fake. Isn't it?

There is no escaping the need for an authenticating controller. Thatís why I have 2 xb1 controllers.

I think this whole thing has become terribly confusing.

1) PC doesn't need it to be wired because you don't have Sony there potentially looking to see if you're using an unauthorised device or not.

2) Titan Two needs to be wired too. There is an option for you to authenticate wirelessly I believe, but it comes with risks. There is a small but possible chance for Sony to detect that it's not a real controller when used wirelessly.

3) To solve your problem, you need a second DS4. There's no way around this. Sorry but there's no "cheap" option - buy a second controller. There is no shortcut when it comes to XIM. It's been designed to be undetectable by Sony, and this is the small price you have to pay.

piiwii,

Thank you for the explanation. If I read you correctly, the second DS4 can be paired with XIM Apex so I can use it wirelessly, right?
