Fragpedals Dual.
« on: 12:30 PM - 04/20/18 »
So I got the email alert that my fragpedals Dual were delivered, I went home on my lunch break giddy with joy, grabbed them off the stoop, went inside, downloaded the software, programmed them, and plugged them into the Xim Apex.

Powered on my PS4 and am having an odd occurrence.

First, I want to say that I programmed my frag paddles to be the numbers 6,7,8,9 since I never use those buttons.

Secondly, the Apex manager recognized the pedals inputting as number 6,7,8,9.
So that is a good sign.

BEFORE I GO FURTHER I WANT TO SAY THAT I WAS PRESSED FOR TIME AND DID NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR AN IN GAME TEST.

Here is the odd occurrence.
Once my PS4 was loaded and the pedals connected, it acted as if the right D pad button was being pressed and would scroll all the way to the end of the PlayStation‘s menu.

I would physically push down on the left D pad button and it would scroll all the way back left but as soon as I let go of the button it scrolls all the way back to the right.

I performed some rudimentary troubleshooting, unplugging the left pedal and I got the same result, unplugging the right pedal and I got the same result.
Going into the manager and deleting the buttons that were assigned to the pedals with the same result.
Unplugging the petals altogether and it went away.

I am thinking that it’s not so much in Apex problem as it is some hardware conflict with the PlayStation itself.
But I don’t have enough technical knowledge to base that on anything.

So when I get home tonight I’m going to try it out in a game to see if it affects the play at all.

If this works, here is a small video of what happens at the PS4 menu screen.

What is special about any pedal?
Other than, if it works out, letting you bind keys to your feet...nothing.

Here is link to product.

Sounds like you need to be in R&D or therapy.  ;)

I for sure went for the wrong job - Therapy.
There are some BT pedals, music players use them to turn pages.

PS: airturn could work with a dongle

Ok, so bad news.

I got home and launched a game, Destiny 2.
With the pedals connected, they make you move, on foot or on the sparrow backwards and left.

So, for science I created a new configuration and UNBOUND every single button in the Xim manager.

It still makes me move back and to the left.

I have no idea why.

I emailed the company and hope someone can figure this out.

Boostgod reported the same problem. I ordered the Quads hoping that his issue was an anomaly given there are older posts on these forum with Fragpedals apparently working. It's a shame to hear that the problem is replicable.

Maybe we'll get lucky and OBs will take a look as Fragpedals seem to be the best footpedal solution on the market. Stinky Board was a complete bust and Scythe is no longer in production, so the pickings are slim.

I should’ve researched better and realized there was an inherent issue.

I’m going to see what their technical support says before I try to get my hundred bucks back LOL.

I really do like how they feel, how you can space the petals out and how you can raise or lower the pedals a bit depending on how high you want them.

I dont understand why you say the Scythe is no longer in production?

The manufacturers site gives a list retailers, the 2 listed for Australia show nothing, but the next one I looked at down under has lots.   https://quietpc.co.nz/usb-footswitch.

and  https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1/143-0791452-0049656?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=scythe+foot+switch

Also no shortage in Europe as far as I can see, certainly not in the UK ... bought mine from quietpc in UK.

You may be right. I read several sources stating they're not being produced (mostly customer reviews), but they are still readily available.

Thanks for the NZ site link, that's the cheapest I've seen them for Aussies.

I should’ve researched better and realized there was an inherent issue.
I knew about it and purchased anyway. As mentioned, it's probably worth OBsIV's while to investigate because the disabled gaming community could use Fragpedals.

I'll also see if I can get them working via a Titan Two. I'm pretty confident about that pathway, at least while connected to PC. Time will tell..

I saw this on Amazon, which is where I ordered mine from.
