[ACTIVE] Xim4 stops responding randomly ..
« on: 04:19 PM - 02/13/18 »
Hey recently my xim4 has been just not responding randomly during cod games.
Sometimes it will look normal and I will lose all control, other times the xim flashes yellow and my character will just keep walking forward, can't shoot or do anything but turn. So I have to unplug the xim from the PS4 and plug it back in which fixes it for a little bit but then will randomly do it again which could take an hour or less..
I have the controller fully charged. This happened all yesterday it's never done this before.
Help would be greatly appreciated :)

That's either a power issue or a connected device issue. The Xim will flash yellow a number of times to correspond with the affected USB port.

Losing control and getting stuck in a movement pattern is typically indicative of power. What's happening is the console can't supply enough juice to your setup and something is tipping it over the edge, most likely your kb lighting.

A very simple solution is to plug your kb and optionally the mouse into a powered USB hub, then plug the hub into the Xim.

Try charging your controller directly with the console for 1 hour. XIM4 should be disconnecting while charging. If you see a yellow light after this note how many flashes there are in each set. When a device has disconnected XIM4 will flash the problem port number in three sets of yellow. Example:

port 1: 1 flash x 3 sets
port 2 : 2 flash x 3 sets
port 3 : 3 flash x 3 sets

I'm not using a keyboard I'm using a nav controller but I will try charging both the nav controller and the PS4 controller separately tonight thanks

Also can you send me a link as in what HUB I would need? Thanks

If you're using a Nav controller, a hub is very unlikely to be needed. A mouse by itself is not likely to cause a power issue, unless you're also using a long USB extension cable in your setup.

Aside from fully charging your Nav and controller, I'd be looking at the USB cables. If you have any spare charge and data compatible cables (most phone sync cables should be ok), replace the cable from the controller to the Xim. Try the same if you have the Nav wired to your setup. The flashing yellow lights will indicate the cable you should be testing.

The nav is prone to a few things that cause stability issues like this such as:

- a faulty cable
- a faulty nav port
- a low or weak charging battery

Let's see if you have this issue with the nav in wireless mode, this will troubleshoot against all of these nav issues. Connect everything as normal, verify the nav is working in game, unplug the nav cable then press the PS button. The nav should now be wirelessly connected to XIM4. Play for a while in this configuration and let us know if you experience a disconnect.

What do you mean by nav? So disconnect the wire running from consol to xim4?

You're boning in on the OP's thread. Read it, he's responding to the OP's enquiry regarding the Sony Navigator controller.

If you're also having problems, please create a new thread.

Hey guys just reporting back and I hate to say this
But I think I might have a faulty USB port on my PS4 😣 I switched the xim4 to the other USB PORT and now the xim4 is working fine again has not played up once in the last 5 hours of switching it...
I wonder if you can get a new USB port ??

I don't think so. You could ask Sony about your warranty but they would likely swap the console for a refurbished console.
